@@monkebusiness8779 Vegas was also looking for a Quarterback, and Atlanta taking one of the 6 potential first rounders off the board meant that they'll have to settle for a later-round QB
All your players are young af, EXCEPT YOUR QB, it’s not the end of the world, having the 2nd most nfl ready qb in the draft be your backup for a year or two.
Yeah they did, on a front loaded contract for a 35 year old immobile qb coming off an Achilles tear. Cousins will probably win the division, get bounced first round then struggle year two and penix will get his shot.
Both dumb yall want more ass qb play and waste more of our assets time? Or get a promising player with huge upside and can learn behind and pro bowl quarterback. I would have loved and edge or wr but this draft class is deep with talent
@youngsizzle444 the contracts of both Cousins and Penix (when he signs) are slated to expire at the start of 2028. Three years in how do you expect for the team to know enough about Penix to possibly justify picking up his fifth year option? Or even turning him into decent trade bait if Cousins becomes Aaron Rodgers and wins multiple MVP awards? If Cousins was on a two year deal I’d understand this pick. But this screams complete reset at the position in four years
As a penix fan this is the best worst thing that could happen getting drafted to a team with a bunch of weapons but being 24 in 2 weeks and having to wait behind a vet for 2-4 years depending on decline isnt great he doesnt need to wait behind someone any longer odd but great pick
Everyone saying that like the team owes him an earlier start. He could start for 10+ years if he starts at 28. QBs are retiring at 40 and later these days.
@@cinimatics Not with his injury history. Two acl surgeries on the one knee has already taken years off of his playing career, not forgetting the surgeries to both shoulders as well.
This move honestly threw off the ENTIRE draft. Nobody was expecting and then started panicking for their picks. Most importantly the Vikings with the double trade they did
@@monkebusiness8779 Bro Kirk is 36 and is coming off a season ending injury. There's no way of knowing when Penix will end up starting a game. He could end up starting a game this coming season and it wouldn't surprise me.
@@CRMdrifteryeah I’m trying to stay optimistic it didn’t make sense for the pick I thought we were getting latu or turner but I wanted penix if we were getting a qb.
Kirk was picked later in the draft by the Redskins after they traded up to get RGIII, which turned out to be the right move because RGIII was an injury nightmare. The Falcons are just copying the homework albeit for different reasons.
Was Aaron Rodgers is a HOF QB mentoring a young 21 year old QB. Kirk Cousins is a borderline top 10 QB in the NFL mentoring a soon to be 24 year old QB.
Kirk getting paid 180 million for 4 years only to have his replacement drafted top 10 before he’s even played a down is crazy. Wonder if Kirk regrets leaving MN?
Best part of being in Detroit: this year I was at a bar less than a block away. Broadcast has a delay, but I knew the moment Gooddell showed up cause all you could hear were boos.
So for anyone wondering what Tom is talking about, the falcons will be punished for tampering in free agency to get Kirk cousins. The punishment hasn't been announced, but the falcons seem to believe they will lose their first round pick next year. Add to that the fact that this is a very strong QB class and the Falcons decided to take a QB one year early since they fear they won't be able to take a good one next year.
You lucked out. Penix is a whole mess on film. Long release. Weird arm slots. Wide base. Only makes two throws. He needs at least 2-3 years and by then he'll be eligible for AARP
