Katy Perry is returning to a vastly different pop landscape then what she was in 10 years ago, and she's as out of touch as ever. Thanks for watching, leave a like, comment & subscribe for future content!
First time viewer of the channel. I appreciated the analysis and I think it's spot on. If you've ever heard a RuPaul song, it sounds exactly like a carbon copy of that generic style.
Thanks for watching and the comment. Yes I have listened to it and I agree, that and this song have the same template and it just seems like they are so artificial and factory made.
Well said. Even I who liked Smile and Witness can’t defend this. We were all rooting for her comeback. When I’m Gone in 2021 showed a lot of potential for the next era, but she squandered it all. This is the lowest point she could go.
This is such an embarrassing video man. I'm sorry but since when critic scores and first week album sales are a valid metric for a pop artist? OR ANY FORM OF ART? Katy is quite an odd card in pop music since the beginning (in a good way) she came from nothing, she was signed and dropped many times, no connections in the industry, critics bashing her since her debut single, media trying to demise her and yet she managed to become on the of the greatest popstars ever, managed to have the best selling pop era of all time tying records with Michael Jackson, best selling female song, song with most diamond certifications... and in 2024 people are still trying to take her down with critic scores? This just proves how relevant and true popstar she truly is. She makes people like you mad and its quite fascinating to watch.
Hey there, thought I'd come in and break down your talking points: 1. You mention critic scores and sales not being a valid metric. I use critic and user scores to gauge the general publics reaction to songs and albums and as this new single is showing, the reception is very negative and it warrants discussion because it is a big talking point surrounding this song and the upcoming album. Also you mention she's the biggest selling female artists with the most diamond certifications, why are those valid sales metrics but an acknowledgement of her drop in sales is not? Clearly sales matter to you for you to mention it, so why are we cherry picking certain stats? It can't all be sunshine and rainbows. 2. I talk about more then just the sales and critic/user scores I spend a good amount of time in the second half of my video explaining my personal reasons as to why I don't like the single as a song and the music video, I'm not just gonna hide behind other people's stats and sales metrics because what's the point of making a video at that point? I'm happy that you have taken the time with your comment and have watched the video, but I'm not embarrassed by it, I'm not mad and I clearly don't show that in this video in my personal opinion. Even if she's one of the biggest artists of all time in the pop sphere, that doesn't mean she can't be criticized for her work or her actions especially behind the rollout of this song.
Pretty sure the consensus on woman's world is overwhelmingly negative... not sure how talking about it and analyzing her career moves is 'crapping on katy perry.' So only guys w a 6 pack and 6 figure salary are supposed to talk about music... got it.
