I'm diving into the WWI-era/late-Edwardian-era of fashion with a dress from 1916 using pre-embroidered border cotton. I based my dress on an example from Patterns of Fashion 2 by Janet Arnold that featured a tiered skirt and several layers of embroidery fabric. I had to draft this dress from scratch, rather than use a pre-made pattern. Will I have enough fabric to make the design work? Will I finish in time before my event? Also - tune in for a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

I love how sewists of modern clothing want only machine stitches showing, and historical costumers want only hand stitches showing. Don't worry about your machine button holes, the dress is gorgeous!

Your drafting skills just astound me. It turned out great! I love the look of lingerie dresses...but I am too much chaos to wear them 😂

My favorite fashion time! My grandmother told funny stories about wearing those hobble skirts! I love 1913-1919. Practical and feminine. Yours is fabulous. Love your videos!!!

Oh! It came out so pretty. The 1910 to 1922 is my favorite era. I have been working to aquire patterns from this era. Not so much the fancy things, but the every day, practical clothing that can be worn when doing every day things. Glad you are doing this era. Thank you.

After seeing the dress in person, you would never know the challenges you had in the construction. It turned out beautiful.

What a lovely dress. I do really do like this time period as well. And you're right. It's not something, you would attract a crazy amount of attention in, when wearing it in public. People would probably give you a 'once over', but it kinda walks that line between obvious historical fashion and a modern garment, inspired by it.

Your outfit turned out so lovely! I love the Nineteen teens (Downton Abby fan) and have started exploring clothing patterns I can make for that era. You have given me such inspiration.

Thanks! Me, too. There aren’t too many companies making patterns for the late 1910s, unfortunately, and the surviving ones are usually only one size.

I was just looking at this dress from patterns of fashion. I photocopied it so I can color it in! I had also been thinking about eyelet border fabric for the tiers. Great minds think alike! ✂️🤍🧡

OMG these boots in the final outfit are THE DREAM !! Where are they from ??
@Me-hm6fv
@Me-hm6fv Год назад
I may be wrong, but these boots appear to be: Everyday working boots, 1915-1920 - Cognac brown - Ruth, from a European (Denmark) based company called Memery that focuses on reproduction of historical and vintage shoes and knitwear.
@DixieDIY
