This scene is so hauntingly beautiful. The whole movie is. It's the perfect comedic tragedy. This scene in particular was put together so wonderfully. It told a full story in under 3 minutes. The world just moved on while two men sat in prison for a crime they didn't commit. Two whole lives just STOLEN by a LIE.. fuckin' heartbreaking. Their prison mates pass away while they have nothing other to do but to wait their turn. The music playing while the characters fade away always brings me to tears 💔 The way they also paid tribute to some of our Black male historical figures & their contributions to our people through time was awesome. MLK Jr., Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X.. I get chills when they flash across the screen. Especially Malcolm. This will always be one of my favorite movies. It tells such an important & relevant story (even to this very day). And the soundtrack was the best of ALL movies!

This is such a well choreographed scene. The music is beautiful and the fading showing each characters passing just adds to the sadness of the whole scene. The inclusion of historical events from the 20th century defines how time and the world has changed. From the Civil rights movement to sporting events through to music and politics, the whole scene shows us all how time is precious so enjoy it while you can. I watch this scene on a weekly basis and i get teary eyed watching. Brilliant movie.

Man just imagine your last day on earth is spent in prison. Not around your family or loved ones not a proper conclusion of your life that you would hope for.

It's such a powerful statement in this movie that haunts me. While the black community made progress, these unknown/forgotten men simply disappeared.

This is such an underrated film. I don’t know what was wrong with people back in 99 but this should’ve been a box office hit

LIFE will never get the full appreciation that it deserves, it will just continue to be counted as an "Eddie Murphy Movie". The depth, the quality of acting as they age, and the reality of death (as in this scene) will always make this film more than it really is. My heart always breaks when old Goldmouth turns around...

This scene also reminds me of my own life journey, how so many of the people I loved has passed on and how I can relate those passing to events that happen at the same time, my mom passing around 9-11 for example,I always tear up at this part of the movie..

I think seeing their mates fade one by one made them realise how much they need each other in the end, this scene makes you realise that life is temporary. Make the most of it.

I like to believe that Cookie/Anthony Anderson was released rather than dying in prison because he was the only one who was still young and looked genuinely happy as he faded away like “Yes! I’m free”

Did anyone else get a cold chill @ 1:52 when they showed the cemetery just between Michael Bear Taliferro and Bernie Mac fading away, because where do Bernie Mac and Michael Taliferro live now? In a cemetery; that's where. Life imitates art or what? Rest in peace Bernie and Michael.

This scene made you realize how fucked up their story was when you took out the comedy. Like, their homies are dying or getting out and they're still there aging away in prison for some shit they were framed with. Shit that has happened in the past and still happens now.

1:45 -Michael Taliferro (August 23, 1961 - May 4, 2006). Taliferro died on May 4, 2006, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 44. The cause of death was a stroke. He was interred at Spring Hill Cemetery in Brooksville, Florida. / 1:55 - Bernard Jeffrey McCullough (October 5, 1957 - August 9, 2008). In 2008, Mac was admitted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in his hometown of Chicago. After a week of unsuccessful medical treatment, Mac went into cardiac arrest and subsequently died during the early morning hours on August 9, from complications of pneumonia at the age of 50. Mac's public funeral was held a week after his death at the House of Hope Church with nearly 7,000 people in attendance. Notable mourners at Mac's funeral were Chris Rock, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Samuel L. Jackson, Ashton Kutcher, Don Cheadle, the cast members from The Bernie Mac Show, and his Kings of Comedy fellows D. L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, and Steve Harvey.

Cemetery @ 1:52, but even more chilling than that, not only are the people from the archive footage Jimmy Hendrix, Elvis Presley, and Satchmo Louis Armstrong are long dead, but Bernie Mac and Michael Taliferro are both dead too and they are shown in between the cemetery scene. Rest in peace.
