To be fair, he was looking to take him by surprise with a single depowering sniper shot. If it had worked then Mag's powers wouldn't be an issue. And the armor worked great against the other X-Men he fought. Still, the fact that he didn't seem to have any sort of contingency for the event that the shot doesn't connect.... not the best look.

Another great episode, Magneto has been captivating. His speech in this episode was awesome. Also seeing Storm startled by the lightning after losing her abilities hit hard.
I really felt the emotion from Storm after losing her powers. Also the pain of Magneto for holding back his anger. I had no idea Magneto had telekinesis powers. 🤯 So did Cyclops get the clone Jean pregnant?
Magneto has no business being this sexy. I legit gulped when I saw him. I thought he was just some middle aged man back in the original show. But with this suit? Daamn, I like. And now I'm totally sold on him after his speech. Here is hoping that he doesn't revert so soon to his villain ways.
His speech at the end. Even though Charles is gone, you could feel he was there at the last second before Magneto did something he would regret. The UN council and Executioner weren't spared by Magneto, they were saved by Charles' love.

As a character in the comics, Magneto has been seriously hampered by the constraints of comics; his evolution into a true believer of Charles Xavier’s vision and joining the X-Men (albeit still himself) feels like the natural ending for him. Or letting him retire on Genosha, Krakoa, somewhere he can build a thriving society for mutantkind… But the constant shifting in allegiances between writers, the status quo of persecution, the use of increasingly dangerous newer or alternative villains, it tends to make him stagnant if not obsolete. So, it’s really nice to have a scenario where Charles is gone for good (officially dead but technically he went with Lilandra to live out what he can…) and Magneto decides to honour him by trying to be better… When d’you guys think Jean was (presumably) replaced by Madelyn Pryor? My assumption is that rather than being resurrected after her Dark Phoenix Saga sacrifice, it was then that Sinister put her clone in her place… Only now, the real Jean is back. And her clone may not have known she was a clone, but could have an existential crisis upon learning it. Which would make more sense than the comics where Madelyn was an inexplicable doppelgänger who was later revealed to be a clone, went crazy that her life was a fabrication and turned evil; this has potential here. And it lets them keep Nathan Summers/Cable as their kid; I wouldn’t mind Rachel being conceived later if this show goes long enough. The one character I really hope gets to be a bigger part, if not a regular, would be Nightcrawler; they have a lot of mileage in his relationship with Mystique and Rogue, and he’s always been beloved by fans. Wouldn’t mind some like Colossus, Psylocke, and others get to appear for real in some capacity. Oh, and Kitty Pryde; always loved her, and her absence in this show always hurts.
That scene with magneto when he was up in the sky and saying he’s trying to be better was soooo amazing. Hope he sticks with it and honours Charles I am hoping Jean doesn’t know she’s a clone and it’s not that she is a mole. Heard sinister is the main villain so would guess he’s created her.
This is my favorite version of Magneto ever put onscreen, and THAT is saying something. And the story beats set up here for Inferno (iykyk) and Lifedeath are absolutely CHOICE. I can’t BELIEVE how faithful to the source material and beautifully written this is so far.
I was waiting for your reaction to the new Jean Gray scene at the end, and you did not disappoint. My mind was blown as well. Disney is coming out with a Madelyn Pryor action figure, so this makes sense. Can't wait to see how this plays out in future episodes. P.S. Rob rocks.
I'm watching this a bit late, but I'm pretty sure that by "physical abilities" they mean that Morph can use stuff like enhanced strength or speed (he uses Quicksilver's speed in a later episode), flying with wings, and any retractable claws or weapons. Abilities that are purely physical and are a natural ability of the body itself. But other abilities, like Wolverine's healing factor, Cyclops' laser blasts, Rogue's energy and power absorbtion, any psychic abilities, etc. he can't do. So he can't teleport like Nightcrawler, absorb energy like Bishop, discharge energy like Gambit, manipulate the weather like Storm, or anything like that. They could change that in the future by having him do that, but I think some of those other things would make him a bit overpowered. I mean I could maybe see him being able to self heal since he CAN change his shape at will, but I think it would be restricted to just physical injuries. And that wouldn't really be a healing factor, it would just be a result of his own shape shifting abilities. Edit: Honestly, I'm more interested in whether or not the clothing he shifts into is part of him or not. Like he shape shifts into someone wearing a hat, and he removes the gat and then shape shifts again, did he lose a part of him, or is he perfectly fine? And what about weapons? He had Psylocke's swords when he turned into her, but are those also a part of him, or... It's confusing.
Storm got blasted in the comics and lost her powers and even beat cyclops for leadership while powerless, i think they are taking inspiration from when she was accidently blasted with the neutrilizer
23:40 yes, I'm going to bet that he did get genes DNA but didn't get any from Scott. So it would make sense for him to clone Jean Grey from the DNA that he had acquired and use her as a template for his dream of a new species by abducting the real Jean and supplanting the clone in her place.
@@LegendsofPodcasting I think that sinister is cruel enough to send the clone out into the world, without even knowing that she is a copy of the real Jean gray. He wanted an exact duplicate and, like any scientist, ensure that the parameters and circumstances would proceed as if he had done nothing in order to ensure Scott and Jean would procreate on their own. The man is obsessed and he cares little about humanity in terms of decency and morality. People are puppets or guinea pigs for him to play with for what he sees as "the greater good."
I think that reference to the battle on the moon might be where the second Jean came from. Jean's life was restored by the Phoenix Force taking a portion of everyone else's, maybe Sinister had created a clone but couldn't wake it up? Then the phoenix split the donations between the two and Sinister has been experimenting with the second one ever since. Can't wait until the next episode to find I'm absolutely wrong on everything I've just said :)
That is what we are asking as well. With the baby being cable comic books would hint to clone. But they did purposely bring up bishops time travel device in episode 1. In 1 day we will find out
