The brilliance of the writing in this show really cannot be overstated. The dialog is stellar, but as you said, the way disparate stories are being weaved into a single cohesive narrative is unmatched. I'm fully expecting this show to bring home an absolute avalanche of awards.
Cameos aside, this episode is Astonishing! Plus Doom and Zemo telling Bastion that he is going overboard is crazy to me. Love it. Once again, Magneto was right.
i feel like every episode mangeto is in he's missing clothes LOL i'm not complaining because my two x-men crushes are magento and gambit (i guess i have a lot in common with rogue lol)
X-Men '97 is EXCELLENCE. And it's less about adapting whole stories and more about taking the bits of what made each of them good and blending them. If they adapted an entire story arc we'd literally not get to see anything else. Taking bits and pieces of EVERYTHING to make a unique story is genius. They have 60+ years of material to use. Anything is possible!
Those are the best adaptations. The ones that are not carbon copies of the comics, but rather take the best of the stories and use them to create something new, while remaining faithful to the original.
The irony here is that Magneto following Xavier’s example _was working._ Mutant/human relations were improving and Genosha was recognised by the UN. The irony lies with the fact that the humans are largely innocent in this situation and the attack on Genosha. It was the _machines._ There are three parties in this race: Mutants, Humans & Machines. Alongside the visual cameos (my favourite being Rachel and her Phoenix aura) are some clever allusions like teleportation being possible “in the *_blink_* of an eye.” The writers knew exactly what they were doing with their wording! I expect Mystique and Blink to feature soon. Polaris herself is seen here, while being alluded to in episode four. Another thing that surprised me was Doom’s involvement. He and Magneto share a mutual respect, as one was a victim of the holocaust on Jews, and the other on Romani Gypsies. And I like that they seemed to reference this with his acknowledgement of Bastion’s “flagrant war crimes.” And lastly, I’m so proud Jean didn’t faint once. They’re doing my girl justice!
it wasn't working, the fact that cooper was there proved that, that it was all a lie the OZT is funded by the UN and genosha was a trap. cooper did not know the level of the castastrophe that was going to happen, but she knew perfectly well that the UN was making new sentinels.
@@brucesnow7125Bastion is not a human-created sentinel. He’s the confluence of Master Mold and a Nimrod from the future. OZT, the Genosha attack and Prime sentinel sleeper agents are _his_ ideas. The humans in the present day of XM97 had nothing to do with it. Beast even stated in the previous episode that they don’t even have the technology for it, and it’s future technology - advanced way beyond anything capable of being made in their present day. And it’s administered with Sinister’s techno-organic virus. Present-day humans were not responsible at all. Their relations with mutants were slowly but steadily improving.
The thing I'm not sure about and I don't know if they explained it. All we know ,all of those prime sentinels were volunteers worked as sleeper agents. So that leads me to think if it wasn't machines they could have found another way to do this.
The Wolverine/Nightcrawler fighting…the animation…the storyline…holy smokes this finale is gonna be EPIC!! Shout out to the animators for finally showing the effects of Nightcrawler teleporting…that was the best!!! And Nightcrawler fight8ng with three swords…damn that took me back to his late 80s solo comic with the little BAMFS. Man as a comic collector for over 40 years and a huge X-men fan I’m loving this! Especially since this was one of the last Saturday morning cartoons I watched. Special shout-out to the animators for their nod at an old X-men cover, back when they faked their own deaths through the Siege Perilous and were living on the Australian Outback. The Reavers crucified Wolverine on a big X just like Bastion did Magneto in this episode. Damn this show has my comic nerd/enthusiast bursting outta my skin! 😂 Oh and don’t forget…SPIDER MAN showed up!🎉🎉🎉
If Val is Mystique, Mystique deserves an Oscar. She is giving the performance of her lifetime. Also, if Dr Doom is saying that you have gone too far, you probably have gone too far.
When it comes to genocide Doom is not all that diferent from common sense, being romani and all. He actually respects Magneto because he surviver holocaust in the comics, since Doom's people did the same and there is even a recent issue of Venom(#25 I think) that Doom goes back to WW2 and has a blast killing nazis. It was amazing lol
It's pretty clear at this point that Val is not Mystique. Also, do you think Bastion couldn't design Prime Sentinels capable of detecting shapeshifters? Of course he could. He himself must have that ability.
I think at this point they've given Val Cooper too much of a human character arc for her to secretly be a mutant. I wouldn't have said that last week, but this week? I'd hate for them to undermine her incredible "Magneto was right" speech. And there should be at least one non-mutant ally in this series who isn't a complete fucking disappointment.
Dang, more cameos than ever. Loving their take on Bastion's origin (nice to see consequences from OG's "One Man's Worth" two-parter) Wolverine/ Nightcrawler teamup was FANTASTIC AND YES, MAGNETO WAS RIGHT!!!!
I think the implication (from Cable) is that, upon death, Nimrod sent a piece of itself-a “backup”-backward in time as a fail safe. The question remains whether Bastion’s father was specifically targeted for infection, or if it was just an unhappy accident that the Nimrod goo encountered him first.
Nope, it's the chunk of Nimrod that was left over in the 1960s after the events of "One Man's Worth". Bastion's father and mother were background characters in that episode =)
When I saw Magneto go to the Arctic, I thought he was going to get a spare outfit from his secret fortress (from X-Men TAS The Phalanx Covenant episode) but nope he just decided to save the world's mutants in his underwear instead lmao.
You must of been really inpatient never seen you post that fast for the x men episode, man your logic and enthusiasm is so remarkable since you read the comics seeing you appreciating a good adaptation must be their doing their job right
After the cameos this episode and how insanely amazing this season has been overall, I can not but hope we could get that last spider-man season and reunite with actual MJ
Apparently the creator said this is happening at the same time storm is just getting her powers back, and later in this episode you can see a thunderstorm happening. It's probably her when she caused that massive storm in episode 6
He probably specifically wanted to unnerve her to trigger her to do something like release Magneto. Sinister always has his own machinations and constantly plants seeds in people’s minds to achieve them.
Because he is. But he's not the power behind all of this. All roads lead to En Sabah Nur.... also known as Apocalypse. He initiated all the pieces to come into place to have all of this play out. Because survival of the fittest. Apocalypse wants to know who is worthy to live in the harsh world of his intended future.
In the MCU, they should have Wanda be the one to activate the X-gene in people and bring mutants en masses to the MCU. After being told that mutants are rare but dangerous, and that the fewer mutants, the better - she should reply; “No. _More_ mutants.” That’d be a great twist on her most iconic moment and most iconic line.
I see it as Wanda’s “no more” is an homage to the concept of “Wieder Nicht“ (Never Again) that was a theme in the aftermath of the Holocaust and basis for Magneto’s struggle.
Great reaction video, guys! I knew it! From Mutant Massacre/E For Extinction to Operation Zero Tolerance to Fatal Attractions to Onslaught. And it works so damn well. Seemless. Two more episodes to go. It's staying at 11. Buckle up!
Was tracking for business and was on lunch in car watching this and I hope nobody got me on camera because I was screaming and going crazy on this episode
Wednesday is both worst and the best day. I have to dodge spoilers for 7 hrs. Then I get to reward myself with finally watching Xmen at supper time. Roller coaster of emotions and stress. Til next Wednesday.
Magnetos global emp you see Spider-Man swinging when his web shooter stops mid swing, omega red was in stasis and the emp allowed him to wake up, plus add planes and helicopters in sky, hospitals and other life saving equipment. Thousands if not millions of humans died
Because this show is a continuation of the original, I think that the Techno-Organic virus that infected Bastion's father was kinda an accident. When Nimrod showed up in the original show, Cable defeated him by destroying most of his body and then destroying his temporal device stored in his neck/head. I think that instead of returning to his original time, the nanobots of Nimrod bounced around time before coming to a stop in the 60s/70s and infected a janitor as a last ditch effort to survive!
That global EMP wiped out hospitals include millions of people connected to life-saving medical equipment. Also, all the planes in the sky, the ships stuck out in the ocean, underground trains, etc.
Damn, I fear next ep if Wolverine says "previously in X-Men", we would see Magneto ripping the adamantium from Wolverine. I love how this series gives so much love to the non-Claremont X-Men. Morrison's E is for Extinction, Lobdell's OZT, and now Nicieza's Fatal Attractions.
I notice a lot of people watching this episode missing the point that Magneto just cold bloodily murdered people with that pulse, every airplane that was in the air crashed, every person on life support in hospitals across the planet just got their plug pulled, traffic signals, power plants, food refrigeration, he wrecked it all and he did it with zero effort. Bastion infected his own father, I believe he created himself from the future he insured his own creation. I thought Val was Mystique but if she is, Bastion knows. Sentinels can sense mutants, Nimrod can sense humans, Bastion would definitely sense mutants. Bastion is playing three dimensional chess so it’s hard to know what he knows, what his plans are and what he’s done to bring them to fruition because he has Nimrod’s knowledge from the future so he’s always ahead of the game. These next two episodes will be earth shattering.
Was Mystique the one who freed Magneto?... when the woman from the United Nations was talking to Erick to apologize, she was injured in one arm, when she freed him she did it, her arm was already fine and the speech towards Bastion what she says is something that Mystique would say
Now, as for the talk about Apocalypse, I know Wolverine could become Death after what was mentioned, but I really hope it is Gambit just so that he has an opportunity to come back, as well as add to the conflict and story plot. Yes, death needs to mean something, but it has meant something. It has driven these characters to tears, to rage, and on the brink of destruction, and bringing Gambit back as Death would not take away from that. At least, in my perspective it wouldn't.
I kinda feel like Val's speech would be a lot more powerful and impactful if she turned out to not be Mystique. As it shows maybe she was a human who was prejudice against Mutants but through what she has witnessed and experienced this season she has changed and that just makes her speech more impactful to me.
With Magneto's EMP blast and Charles arriving back on Earth, this could definitely shape up for Fatal Attraction. If all goes accordingly, then yeah, it's most likely heading towards Onslaught. If they're doing Fatal Attraction, then Magneto must do the...thing. OH GOD, WHAT IF HE DOES IT?!
It’s a possibility, but I don’t think the show will tackle _the thing._ After Genosha, leading the X-Men and the destruction of his species, I don’t see this version of Magneto wanting to harm any mutant, regardless if they oppose him.
@arc7375 I think they might. I think all of his goodwill and redemption tour was built up to validate his villain turn. All he's said since Genosha was "enough" I think Magneto is broken right now. After witnessing a 2nd genocide, I think he's beyond reason. Which would make him capable of doing "that thing." Cause remember when he did that, he was almost fatally slashed and was just fed up. Completely done sparing him with what he could've done to him with ease. And that feels like Mags right now. Which is a great setup to why he's gotta square up with Charles foreal. And that would be great conflict with how the series has highlighted their friendship. And if they do go there with each other, you know what comes after that... ONSLAUGHT. We'll see tho...
@arc7375 one thing I will say tho, to your point, they might not because where would that leave Wolverine? And I doubt they wanna go down that road. Unless they want to throw that in with Apocalypse fixing it, on top of Gambit as the horseman of death.
I like the fact they threw a lady Gaga reference in there when she calls him a monster it’s what her fans are called and he says I was born this way reference one of her hit songs
Anyone else see the parallel between this episode and Bastion’s origin and Season 3 of Picard? The dormant Borg nanoprobes inside Picard (I almost wrote “Xavier” due to both being played by Patrick Stewart) were passed onto his unborn son, resulting in a human life that was naturally infused with both technology, resulting in an “organic Borg” whereas they are usually created with technology augmentation forcibly assimilated into them. Also, the plan of the Borg Queen is to create “sleeper cell” organic Borg drones. Capable of spreading and activating covertly. We have two individuals, Bastion and Jack, that were born as organic machines due to a dormant “infection” that their fathers possessed. Both want their “machine” order to rule over everyone else, and they both try to achieve this through creating sleeper cell agents by infecting the general population with a techno-organic virus.
@Fandom Zone, two time-traveling shows- " Legend of Tomorrow& The Flash(involving Eobard Thawne) had touch on this particular problem Cable happens to come across, which accurate called "Fixed Point", if you two gotten the chance to watch either shows on CW?.
@@FandomZone Dang it! I was afraid of that. I've seen the one for Rogue and Gambit! It just opened up for pre-order last week. It's beautiful, but oh, the price. Haha!
