PINACI news - very true. A lot of these devices seem to be 1 step forward and 1 step backwards in requiring 2.4ghz. It defo states this in the specs before you purchase it, but yep I guess it should indeed be included in this vid that’s otherwise very helpful. 👍🏾😊 (I LOVE this doorbell. It’s awesome & has been a Godsend!)
I REALLY wish manufacturers of devices like these would design them to be able to use 21700 cells OR 18650 cells. With 21700 cells, for just that 3 millimeters increase in length and 5mm increase in diameter, you increase the capacity by nearly 50% !!! They could provide space for the 21700's and with an appropriately sized spring connector (or articulating contact) it could use EITHER 18650 or 21700 cells...offering greater flexibility to the customers and if desired, substantially longer operating time. 21700 Li-Ion cells can be easily found in true 5000mAh capacities.
I cannot confirm it is true for THIS specific unit, but the user manuals I have for several "identical" looking doorbells all stipulate the camera itself is JUST 1MP resolution (1 mega-pixels). That is VERY low resolution. So this is just something to keep in mind. Even though it can DISPLAY in an 720p format, the 1MP image is still low resolution because it is limited by the camera itself. A 1MP image will be fuzzy, especially if you try to "zoom" in or "magnify" the image. So set expectations accordingly. Note that most phones have 5MP cameras or higher these days and a number of them even have 20MP cameras. Surveillance camera vendors often specify "HD" or "720p" or "1080p" to give the impression the image quality is very high...but it's often misleading due to the camera itself having much lower optical resolution. They just artificially "stretch" the 1MP image using computer processing so it FITS the 720p or 1080p or higher DISPLAY format...which they call resolution.
Hello! The tutorial is very good. I have a doubt, if I connect the device with the USB cable it works, but I put the batteries and does not turn on. Do you have any power button? Or turn it on only when installing batteries? Thank you
Asociación Celíaca Argentina Oficial make sure the batteries are the correct ones. I initially bought the wrong ones that’s why it wouldn’t turn on. It has to be the batteries with the button on the end
Hi, I've just watched your doorbell video can you tell me how to set up the PIR please? Oh and is your PIR working ok as mine doesn't seem to be. Thank you regards Karen 😊
ohh that effin Brilliant that it cries out when it is detached. I was curious what that electric plating was for on both plates. Thanks for showing that although it didnt look like you meant to demo that on purpose.
I love mine. It’s brilliant. I was nervous and thought it would look chunky. It Works fantastically. Instead of wiring it, as well as my phone & other devices, I’ve Bluetoothed it to a prehistoric tired old Samsung tablet that remains plugged in, in one area of the house so everyone in the house can hear the doorbell ring (& view) if my phone/devices are switched off. I’ve also popped in a 32gb micro usb card (i can’t believe what I saw my neighbour do on playback! Another story...🤦🏾♀️). With rechargeable batteries, this was a really great buy. 👌🏾👍🏾
5:40 that is for when you hard wire it, its not alarm 😃 . The alarm is sounded when the white small square button is released when someone detached it from the wall unit.
For me I installed the app using batteries then hooked up to my doorbell wires (Please do your research on how to do this and be careful as touching any electrical wires can be dangerous) -- if you're going to hook up to doorbell wires you take out the batteries... the device should still be paired -- but if you delete the device out of the app you'll have to reset it again using batteries, not sure why it wouldn't work with the wires but actually easier. Also buy a high quality doorbell wire, I bought some which was cheap but not very good and wish I would have bought a better quality... Also, for those like me who don't realize for ding dong pairing you have to buy the ding dong that plugs in separately in an indoor outlet which you buy separately. Which you can then pair once you plug that ding dong in. I also used a plastic butter container and cut space to ring the bell and for the camera, then screwed that to the wood on side of door with special star screws - makes it harder for anyone to steal because a robber will steal it and not care if the alarm goes off. Question 1: It's difficult if you're a busy person to check when there's a notifications of motion detection and even on the lowest setting mine picks up cars going by... ug. Do you know if there's an auto record and if so please provide instructions or a link. Question 2: I live in the US, should I use 50 or 60hz? I'm assuming 60hz... and in the UK 50hz...
@@tomharris5777 By "tamper protection", I think you're referring to it will sound an alarm (assuming enabled)...if removed from the mounting plate by a thief. But...it has no way to PHYSICALLY secure it to the mounting plate to prevent theft even when the plate is attached to the wall using screws. I think rabone1963 was pointing out what I also consider a flaw. IF it does have a way to PHYSICALLY secure the unit to the plate (security screw, key lock, etc), I didn't see any. I would find a way to modify it to provide physical anti-theft in addition to the alarm.
Thank you for the video, I'm just wondering does the door bell ring by it self or does it need a phone/app to hear it. What if I'm not home and my kids are? will they know someone rang the bell?
A USB charger only supplies 5 vdc. Charging these batteries would take a door bell or other 14 to 25 volt transformer. And yes, you can use either ac or dc as the circuit has a full wave rectifier and voltage control.
Thanks for the video. If the back is not drilled in, can't someone just take the whole thing without setting alarm off? (I dont want to drill holes either).
Am I understanding this right? That this model let you view the images from the doorbell on your smartphone, and talk with the person at the door WITHOUT having to first send the audio/video data to the "cloud"? e.g. the app provides a direct WiFi link to your phone from your home WiFi network?
@@timothyrichardson3238 I think I didn't word that quire right. Will it work WITHOUT access to the 'cloud'? Will it work WITHOUT access to a cellphone provider? Example: I have a place that is "off the grid". However, it has an internal/personal WiFi network that extends over a large area which I can communicate between devices on MY network. But, again...it has ZERO connection to any external phone or external wifi support.
Hi. Can the ringer volume be adjusted please? It doesn't look a bad picture if I'm honest. Been looking at RING but more than twice the price. Thanks for showing
Hey, dude! Do you know if its possible to disable the sounds coming from the doorbell it self? You know ,the part that's outside? Kind of stupid it makes the ding-dong-sound when people are pressing the doorbell-button, like they dont know they're ringing the bell.
@@jaredporras I looked all over the app but couldnt find anything. Ended up with a disconnection of the speaker on the unit. Now people cant hear me, but hey, our house isnt that big.
I have just got one of these doorbell, please can you advise where else I can buy the batteries for it ? It needs 2600mAh batteries im confused if it should be AA or AAA Thank you
my i fone 6 doesnt get notified when i ring the bell, no notification and its turned on for notifications, cant use it as i dont have another ringer, need to know when someone is at my door if am not in
I can’t get my iPhone to pick up notifications that someone’s at my door. Please can you help? I’ve checked everything I’m supposed to but still not happening. Thanks in advance.
Hi. When I thought the batteries would turn on the alarm and it always works, I don't know how to turn it off? I put that back cover on, but the alarm still works.
Hello my friend wonder if you can help me. have you ever experienced a upside-down image while using this product or if anyone from the community has? Thanks in advance
@@black4life hi yesterday I bought battery and recharge with this device through using USB cable so. you can charged battery with this device itself when it's finished the battery but you have to use a USB port
@@neodrumz hi Top of the device. There is USB port But before that u have to remove the small plastic cover plate. Just slide down..the cover plate. Thanks
I bought this smart doorbell everything was working fine until it started to rain and it went kaput and then it worked after it got dried. Did I do something wrong?
Can you download the XSH "app" as an .apk so you can save it in case this company goes out of business and their "app" is removed or no longer available for whatever reason? The problem I have with "apps" that are REQUIRED to use a product, is that companies DO remove them from the internet when they change models, and/or go out of business and they get removed, and so on...making the product useless when you change phones or have to reload the app for any reason (e.g. recovering after a phone problem requiring a reset). Companies removing their "app" from the internet has happened to me twice now...leaving unusable over $100 of products I have. Note: I'm assuming an *unrooted* smartphone, but the phone does allow you to sideload .apk app files. (I know rooted smartphones will generally allow one to save apps as .apk files even if an app isn't designed to be saved like that, but rooting is such a hassle sometimes)
The problem with this bell is when someone is ringing the bell or moving at the camera, the position, one brings you a message. It is necessary that when the bell rings, the sound comes to you and you know that someone and the door you talk to him
i have mine plugged in to charge but how do i know it is charging? i didnt get a xharger with it. im trying to use a phone charger and a usb cable plugged into a ps4 which is then plugged into door bell unit but there is no visual sign or light from the doorbell to say its charging? any ideas? cheers
I would have just added a "Velcro" strip to the back of this new doorbell and stuck it to the already extant Velcro discs he had been using with his old doorbell. These Velcro discs had a history of providing a durable mount on the brick surface, and it would have been super easy to do it that way (at least, for people like me who have lots of hook & look Velcro strips left over from all sorts of other products and in my "parts" drawer). Of course, any kind of detachable mount makes it easy for someone to just pull the unit off and steal it. For these kinds of outside mounted devices (like this and security cameras), I usually use a (hidden) screw mounting plate AND at least one security screw attaching the unit to the mounting plate. In the case of these doorbells, one would have to find a way to add a security screw (e.g. drilling through the unit or modifying it in some other way.)
Those two holes on the back that u pointed too @ 6.01 into the video on my instructions it says that's for a transformer?? This is why I'm watching through vids the same as the one I've gotten like yours too see what that's about, I think if im right a transformer is some kind of wiring that transforms the voltage or wattage or something? am I right and do i need it??
What size sim card does this take, is it micro, full size with a baggy edge on 1 side or a memory card like they used in ps2 type, thanks for any answers
I would speculate that the "240V" was a typo in the user manual and or the product box...they are often full of such typos/mistranslations. They almost certainly meant "24.0V". Example of major typo: I've seen a user manual for this type of doorbell that specifies it uses 2x 18650 cells, only to state in the next paragraph that is requires 3x 18650 cells. I don't know about THIS specific brand, but a number of identical looking brands accept 12-24vAC from a "standard" hardwired doorbell transformer...that's AC volts...not DC volts... although 12-24VDC input MIGHT still work but it would depend on the specific electrical design of a given brand AND it would be polarity sensitive...you would have to match the (+) to the correct input connection. With an AC input it wouldn't matter which of the two wires went in which of the two connections.
Does anyone know if I can connect my doorbell to ring inside my home. We installed the camera but we only get the phone calls which is great. However if we're home and do not have our cell phones on us how do we know someone is ringing the doorbell. Thank you.
If you see someone selling this door bell camera...Run. By the time you get notified by it, someone could seal your car loaded with the Amazon packages from your front porch. Also it doesn't record.
How do I get my existing hard wire door bell to work? With the battery's in the door bell, the interior mechanical door bell does not ding dong., and there is a 60 cycle buzzing sound from the mechanical door bell. I take the battery's out of the exterior door bell and the buzzing stops inside. The outside door bell still works from the power from the hard wiring. What is the secret Sause to get my mechanical door bell to ring. Thanks for your help.
In the states our internal wiring for doorbells runs around 24VAC. This looks like unit I bought but has better features than the XSH Cam unit I bought and will not work. So I see they make different models, mine you have to wire to doorbell direct, not to mounting bracket so cheap chinese knockoff of this device which never connects.
My doorbell has just arrived and it takes 3x 18650 batteries instead of 2. Do these batteries have to be rechargeable or can you buy normal batteries for it? Thank you
Well...the easiest way would be to use an adapter like this CR123 to 18650 adapter: www.thingiverse.com/thing:2492956 However, remember that the smaller capacity cells won't last nearly as long as a good quality high capacity 18650 cell (see note about SCAMS below). Also check out the author's recommendation in his/her "Summary" about using an *RCR123A* battery. You could also make your own adapters to use other batteries, like 9V or other...but it gets more complicated and you have to do your own wiring and connecting, etc. and again, you're probably looking at something with a lot lower than 1000mAh of capacity compared to the 2000+ mAh capacity of 18650 cells. You can find quality 18650 Li-Ion cells as high as 3500mAh. Any higher capacity claim and they are USUALLY scams. I THINK there is also a 12VDC input port that...again...you could wire something up to use an external 12V battery of whatever Ah you want. edit to add: Also, if you're going to use primary (non-rechargeable) cells in the unit, then NEVER try to charge them. To make it safer, I would put tape or something more difficult to remove over the charging port if I were to put non-rechargeable cells in the unit.
I’ve set up this XSH doorbell and all is working ok BUT I installed the correct SD card.... My question is: How do I view recordings off the SD card..... anyone please????
Hello, i bought this doorbell. its making false alarm sounds in middle of night whic are very loud and disturbing for neighbours. message comes device moved but device is still in place. i have made PIR function compltely off still its making false loud alarms. How to fix it?
I am usinh same brand doorbell and it has ghost ribg issues.. whenever we any switch is turned on or off the door bell rings.. also battery drains like hell
I just set this up a few days ago. It works fine for a day or so and then it stops. I have to reset it, pair it again and set back up again. Never says more than a day. Any thoughts?
Not sure if the video shows the actual picture displayed when someone rings the doorbell but it appears to have a little silhouette effect and exposing for the background rather than the person ringing the bell. Is this correct?
Hi! Have just got this doorbell fitted at my front door today, but since is been fitted It keeps ringing on my phone when there is no one outside my door. My guess is that is to do with the senor where is just picking up any movement as cars or anyone walking pass. Please can you explain in a similar form on how to solve the problem please. kind regards kenny
Mine didn't come wit batteries, but in the instructions it says optional lol dont you need batteries for this? And where do you buy these type of specific batteries?
Hi, can anyone tell me do I need to wire this up to my own existing doorbell? Otherwise How can I hear this doorbell ringing if the doorbell is on the outside of my front door? The instructions say that I need a buzzer matching device that comes separately, so do I need the buzzer matching device if I haven’t got an existing doorbell to wire it to and how do I wire this to my existing doorbell please?
