NOTE: Regarding SD cards, you can certainly get slower SD cards, such as 90 MBs, etc. Keep in mind that two major factors here are: 1.) burst rate/buffer size and 2.) UHS-I vs. UHS-II types. I think the 170 MB/s 64GB UHS-1 card is a good overall pick because of speed, cost, burst rate handling, etc. and ability to handle 4K video. Remember, the 300 MB/s UHS-II cards will NOT give you the UHS-II increased performance with the X100VI camera. The UHS-II SD cards will still work, but limited to UHS-I speeds when used with the X100VI. This is because the X100VI utilizes UHS-I.
Just to add, I believe that even though UHS-II won't add in camera performance, that extra performance WILL be useful when offloading photos from your camera to computer. (just in case anyone missed it in the video!)
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 and thank you for this very helpful video, especially for the most important energy theme. BOOST ON! This is essential for the whole camera and I think many new users don‘t know that and wonder that the camera works slowly. But I have some different recommandations to yours: 11:45: AF+MF ON. Sorry, that has a huge negative impact für AF! If you select ON, you have automatically switched from focuspriority to releasepriority, although you have chosen focuspriority in the menue. So the camera makes more unsharp photos! 12:18: Use the Red LOW to have a narrower peaking field. Missing: Change AF - priority for AF-C to focuspriority, because the default is releasepriority.
Great videos! ND filter has a default button shortcut. If you turn and hold the OVF/EVF lever for few seconds it will release the ND filter! Thanks for all your work!
Once again I find myself indebted to you and your channel, Chris. I just picked up my X100VI after waiting for 6 months since pre-ordering. Following this excellent video has made it really easy to get initial settings made so I can get out and about in London to start getting a 'feel' for the camera. Your videos have always been inspirational, and I know I am not alone in recommending you to new Fuji users as often as I can. I am only surprised that more people don't actually subscribe to your channel. But, as I have said many times before, Thank You and if you ever get over here to London, it would be a pleasure and an honour to meet you and your family and to buy you a slap-up meal.
I accidentally dropped my Fujifilm X100VI from the coffee table but I thoroughly explained it and not a mark on it but I wonder if the following is normal regarding the Optical/Electronic Viewfinder Selector Lever, when I look through the viewfinder and flip the lever, it works perfectly but when I hold the camera well away from my face and flip the lever it doesn't always work, can you all try it, point the camera at certain things and plus the ceiling and flip the lever, does the optical/electronic viewfinder Selector only work when you have your eye up to the eye viewfinder and sensor.
Thanks for the video. I’m having issues with my x100VI (already) where the iso/shutter speed dial doesn’t match its actual setting. Or gets locked on BULB shutter speed. Any help? Or tips?
Hi new to the X100Vi camera, I have noticed this thing with my camera where when I am cycling through the different film simulations and move the camera around while the menu is open, the pan is really slow like 10FPS slow(almost laggy), but when I am done selecting the simulation I want, it goes back to normal? is that common behaviour?
I’ve got a question for you. I just got this camera, following you (like with my XT5) on the set up. What do you think bout a lense cover/screw on up filter, for lense protection? Is this something that you worry about or I should? I appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks for video. I originally set up camera for large 3:2 like you have in the video but after playing with it I noticed it’s in medium now and I only have medium and small as options. How do I get large back? Brand new to this, help would be appreciated
I choose HEIF, my phone supports it and it's the default format on all iphones and most androids, my macbook supports it as well. And if there is a website or app that doesn't, I can convert to JPEG when needed. It's just a superior format, there is really no need to avoid it.
Apple makes ugly mistakes with HEIF from this camera in the finder or Photo App: Too high contrast with blacked shadows and false colours. On MacBook and IOS. Compare it with JPG and you will see it.
Hello regarding your video style. I would really recommend to shorten parts where your film yourself but leaving the menu in the video for longer. Its really hard to see what you chose there especially for beginners. Just keep talking with leaving the menu in the video. thanks for the video
Hi, You mentioned in your other video that every time you turn on and off or view photos on your Fuji X100VI the number of shutter counts increases. That is so true. So my question is, assuming that there is a shutter life on this camera, not only does the shutter count increase but the life of the camera is undermined, let alone the resale value, right? Is that a flaw by the company? Is it intentional? What can be done to minimize this damage to the shutter count every time you pick up this camera. It is no fun capturing whatever you are capturing, knowing that your device ages astronomically.
I received a defective one and will have to exchange (probably going to take another few months sadly). The EVF screen on mine is stuck 🥲. The lever does nothing besides vibrate the EVF screen with a clicking noise. Turning my camera on and off does nothing and sometimes the EVF screen only rises half way up. Tried resetting the entire camera, removing the battery for a long amount of time. Nothing. Very bummed.
As always, excellent video!! I’m fairly experienced with Fujifilm Cameras having used Fuji for several years, but I’m always guaranteed to learn new things from your videos. Looking forward to more tips on the X100VI.
What's the biggest issue on fujifilm cameras? Video Autofocus. What youtubers dont test on new fujifilm cameras ? New Video Autofocus performance and features
Hi Pal, I've been struggling with an issue for days now. I'd really appreciate it if you could help. I'm using the Mac Mini with the M2 Pro processor. I also have a MacBook Pro with an Intel processor. While the XT-4 X webcam application works on the MacBook Pro, no matter what I do, I can't get it to work on the Mac Mini. The Mac Mini never recognizes the X webcam software. I've searched forums for this issue, and there are others in similar situations like mine, but there doesn't seem to be a solution. Do you have any ideas about this?
Hi Chris, Glad you got your x100vi, still waiting and waiting and waiting for the one I prr-ordered on launch day! Still back ordered. IMO Fuji did a crappy job on this launch. They need to explain when and if any of us on the back ordered list will ever get our camera. They also need to explain to all of us how scalpers were able to procure multiple units. One such ebayer had 45 of each silver and black. Please explain how he was able to do that. Based one what he charged he stands to make a 35 to 50K profit. Yes I know there's a special place in hell for scalpers but it would sure be nice if they were not able to purchase so many at one time. Don't know if that's a fuji issue or a retailer issue? I'm subscriber and have been for quite some time. I always find your videos very informative and insightful. I've been a fuji user since 2016. Currently own an X-pro2 (my first fuji), an X100v and a X-t5.
Great and comprehensive video, thanks for sharing! Quick question I had about Auto1 for ISO. I followed your settings including minimum shutter at 1/125 but notice the camera does not respond to it. The SS will often go much slower depending on the lighting. Any idea why this may be happening?
i just got my X100VI (silver) and your explanations helped SO MUCH. i am happy my wife recommended you to me way before and back then i subscribed which helped me to get this important info 😀🙏🏽
as a Sony shooter (and formerly Canon, Pentax etc etc) this is a new experience - your videos are great info! PLS TELL ME ABOUT THE built in FLASH ... I seem not to be able to figure that one out. It has something to do with the combo of S C M on the side of the camera? or something in the menu?? (ps I have backbutton focusing - and also need to know if the side switches S C M actually mess my backbutton up?)
Thanks for the guide! Can you explain why you recommend the IS mode to be continuous? I watched your review video and I couldn't find where you talk about that.
Hai, could you do a video regarding a detailed Hi, could you create a video providing a detailed review of the video features of the Fuji XS 20? This should include information on the ISO features in video recording, the limitations of auto-focus, the dynamic range performance of the camera, and recommendations for the best compatible SD cards. If possible, could you do a video review? This would greatly assist me in deciding whether to purchase the camera. Thank you! 🙏
Can you help me? My playback is lagging. Not by much, but enough to annoy me. I have clarity set to 0 as well as everything else. I have owned several X100 cameras (including the V) and never had this happen. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
This is great! I’d set shutter to manual + electronic though. Otherwise you can unexpectedly overexpose in bright conditions at f2.0, as mechanical maxes at 1/4000.
Fantastic video. One challenge. If I applied your video settings correctly I can’t change the film simulation as they are greyed out. Thanks. And my movie mode changes from your recommended setting when I turn the camera off and on again. Argh! Found out the camera was set to F Log. Removed and fixed. Camera is too small for my eyes. I’ll return it and keep my X-S20.
Just watched this video and found it very helpful, just having received my X100VI earlier today. It took 10 weeks of waiting, but it’s finally in my hand. As a reference point, I ordered it from Adorama at 1:20 p.m. on Feb 20th. Looking forward to what it can do and trying to decide which of my other cameras to sell to help pay off this new one!
Hello Chris, thank you so much for all your FREE practice videos, it's so valuable :-) With that said, can I ask you something that might be interesting to many of us. As we don't have a scale on the x100 lens, when we try to take pictures in the focus area, is it possible to see the larger scale on the rear screen to determine what is will it focus from the f-stop or is it only seen inside the electronic viewfinder (which is really a pain)? thanks for your help Chris, have a great spring, cheers! Glenn
Chris, not to put any pressure on you - take your time -, but are you thinking of commenting on the new firmware? Any relevant changes to autofocus? Thanks in advance!
Another great video! As always, great practical tips for beginners and new Fuji users, but also great reminders for those who have been in the ecosystem for awhile. I'm going on two years with the X-T3 and one year with the X-S20, and multiple zooms and primes. I don't plan on getting the x100VI, but I still enjoy your content, presentation and entertainment.
Great information for this Fuji newbie. It would’ve been helpful for me if you had left the picture of the screen up longer. I kept getting lost as you would zip ahead! But the information was outstanding, thanks so much!
Just got mine last night. Not sure if it’s snappier or I’ve finally gotten used to using Fuji cameras but it was working for me pretty well. Except figuring out the ND filter with the default switch.
I have watched your videos and found it is very educational. keep up the great work Just a quick comment on switching between photo and video. after pressing the drive/delete button, you don't need to use joystick to go all the way from the top to the bottom. you actually can title up to go backward directly from photo to video. of course, I would like rear command dial to be able to do the quick trick. and I am still missing the D-pad on my x100F a lot.
This was super SUPER helpful. Just found your channel and have watched every video you've recommended in the description/video. I've learnt so much and have changed many settings to match. Not only do you explain what setting to pick you explain *why* you should, which is so helpful and allows me to tailor any setting to something else. Thanks for the informative video! Your energy is awesome.
