I'm using two X2U's and my Mac cannot differentiate the two different USB's. Its reading them as one and cannot record two tracks at once because of this.

Because the Windows operating system adds additional gain (amplification) of the microphone signal, there can be a good deal of noise when plugging in a USB microphone. For this reason, it's appropriate to set a lower Microphone Level. The tech bulletin in the link below suggests setting it to a value of "2," but I've had good results with settings as high as "40." www.shure.com/en-US/support/find-an-answer/x2u-pg27usb-pg42usb-clipping-distorting-in-windows-7-and-vista

I bought KSM137 & X2u to record piano. I followed this tutorial, but the sound has some popping/crackling sound on higher notes. I tried many times by putting the micro in various distances and even covered the micro with my socks (yes you read it right), but no succeeded. I'm very disappointed. Don't know what I do wrong. Do we need to set the recording volume level in the computer (e.g., 90%)? Do we need to set the recording frequency (e.g., 44KHz)?

There is a potential issue on a Windows computer, and you may have to turn down the Microphone level in the Windows sound properties. This tech bulletin talks about the setting: www.shure.com/americas/support/find-an-answer/x2u-pg27usb-pg42usb-clipping-distorting-in-windows-7-and-vista Aside from that, make sure you play close attention to the input meter on the X2U. It’s ok for it to light up yellow once in a while, but if it lights up red at all it’s clipping. The sample rate (44KHz) probably doesn’t have anything to do with this.

This post is so important. I recommend Shure to highlight it for Windows users. Many thanks.

Does anyone know if this work with a broadcast headset, also from Shure? I have the BRH440M headset. Thanks in advance.

One of the pre-terminated cables available for the BRH440M is part number BCASCA-XLR3Qi, which has a male XLR connector for the mic output and a ¼” phone plug for the headphone input. If you add an adapter to convert the ¼” headphone connector to a 3.5mm plug, you should be able to connect the BRH440M to the X2U’s input and output.

I've tried for so long, but no matter what I do, it records a horrible hissing noise. I can't hear it during recording, but oh wow, is it awful

Sorry to hear that the X2U does not seem to be working correctly. We have a few suggestions as to what may resolve this. Which type of computer and operating system are you running? If you select Microphone Properties for the Shure USB device, is the operating system boosting the volume level in any way? The link below describes this scenario in Windows 7: www.shure.com/americas/support/find-an-answer/x2u-pg27usb-pg42usb-clipping-distorting-in-windows-7-and-vista We also wonder if there may be a problem with the sample rate and/or bit depth that your recording software is requesting. The X2U is capable of recording and playback at up to 48 kHz / 16-bit. I would check this in the "preferences" of the recording software. You can also try recording with the X2U using a different USB cable, or even a different PC. If none of that helps, our support team can help. Email them at support@shure.com.

Shure do u still need an interface
@shure
@shure 8 лет назад
+Jason Truong If your plan is to record audio on your computer with a professional microphone, an interface such as the X2u is highly recommended. For a condenser microphone, the computer will not be able to provide phantom power. The X2u will provide phantom power as well as digitize the signal from the microphone.
