I like to think that the role of The Max is to bring the light of Sol to places that really really need it. Xenon sectors better watch out. Expect less spectacular results with the other two planned ships in the class (I don't have a supply of top tier mods for the O'Neill or unnamed further ships). But so far, I'd say worth the horrendously large investment. Never underestimate the military utility of just bringing the biggest possible gun I guess?
@PerunGamingAU Hans Castillo mate. Give him a ship too. He is the guy who found Max's talent. (Kept him on when 'someone' wanted Max replaced.😉) No Hans, no Max.
Is it possible to engineer an 'accident' for Dal Busta? He doesn't really bring anything to the table, so if he were to 'retire early,' his particular set of skills wouldn't go wanting. Send him on a 'vacation to Belize.'
37:33 "an untraceable connection to the Terran military" while trolling around with self-built Terran battleships, that was self-manufactured in mars orbit ...
Maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like maintaining population numbers and expanding a species through the galaxy is going to require cloning technology. I dont see people suddenly choosing to start having kids just because we can let them live on mars.
@@octagonPerfectionist imagine having to pay your slaves uhh I mean unpaid intern marines you throw at the meatgrinder in a boarding operation any wages
And the fact that you can go from station to your fighter and dock on the Asgard and walk to the bridge basically seeming less is just super nice. You can even dock your S ship on an M Frigate and then dock the Frigate on an the Asgard or any other L ship.
yep. I've taken Tharka's Cascade XV with a Syn and an Osaka (and a tonne of laser towers). next sector has a H, an I, and four or five Ks, and I saw a Terran Asgard go in solo and get melted. gonna try getting my own Asgard and seeing how much better I can do
@@RoamingAdhocrat The AI is complete crap at handling that ship, unfortunately. Had a major scuffle between Terran Intervention and the Xenon in Tharka's Cascade. One I, four Ks. I went in, started a boarding operation on the Asgard, and by the time it was mine only a single K had been destroyed. Then I teleported into my shiny new toy and mopped up the rest in a few minutes. In player hands, all you really need to do is point and click. Even an unmodified main gun can take an I down to like 1% hull in a single burst, and you can then finish it off with the other two main batteries. When it comes to Ks, well, you can pop three of them in quick succession before your death ray overheats. The Asgard is hilariously overpowered and I love it lol.
Jack waved away the latest exchange information and looked at the incoming reports from Heretic’s End. He chuckled. “So. The fish have found their fangs.” “It took a small push. Nothing more.” Jack smiled at the young man with a hint of smugness. “And how did you find the modifications to the Pichardo? Were they sufficiently to your liking?” His counterpart was usually the picture of decorum. This time however the return smile was unabashedly feral. “The Max Pichardo is…. Adequate.” Harper lit his cigarette with an almost negligent gesture. “Tell the Kha’ak that Cord Hislop Aerospace sends its regards. In the only language they seem to understand.”
Fun fact: capital shields used to have a recharge delay in X4. It made them useless since fighters would whittle them down regardless of numbers. Glad they changed it.
I like to imagine Perruns character is talking to himself as he walks around like a madman. But everyone is too scared/intimidated/respectful/awed to interrupt this mercenaries captain's flowstate of all flowstates.
Guy is stopped by border control at presumption of spycraft, after evading authoroties due to suspisiously timed pirate attack, the FIRST thing guy does is walk straight into cointel sting op... Guys i think Perun might be working for the terrans, but thats just a hunch
Mission Control watching a cadet steal a frigate, turn the tide against the Xenon, teleport halfway across the galaxy, become the leader of a business venture, and develop a powerful private army in Terran space.
that gate check was even more hillarious for me, because at that point I had a giant empire that was hired by the antigone republic to terraform getsu fune.
Been really enjoying the Let's Play, both in how your explaining how the game works and keeping the play-style in theme with your story-line with your MC.
22:09 And station morale, I presume. The Boron are the only friend-shaped beings in a hate-shaped galaxy. That’s got to do wonders for coworkers. It is for that reason the Great Patriarchy must be destroyed as soon as they are not necessary for defense against the Xenon. None shall strike the Boron and survive to land a second blow.
As a funny side note, when you check the sectors in the encyclopedia you can see how many people life on the planets. Two Grand has a planet with like 44 Billion Teladi on it. So supply of young willing workers should be endless.
Perun, I blame you for getting me into this game. I don't know how many hours you have cost me and will cost me, but it's at least three figures. I decided to build a Consumables Production station in Rolk's Demise (I did the Argon-with-Boron-exploration) but with an Argon crew, because I'm stubborn like that. (And also, I didn't want to have to buy the blueprints for the BoFu Prod chain.) Bought Sturgeon freighters are now on repeat convoy orders, buying at my station and selling to Heretic's End (one for Med Supplies, one for Rations.) The HQ then re-sells the Rations and Med Supplies to the gate network. Though I do use the Boron Medical Supplies prod chain, because it's just... Cleaner, I guess? Anyway, having fun. Recently got Shield Component Production up and running, finally have all the Argon prod buildings.
I'm at over 300 hours at this point. I've wiped out the Xenon, turned the Split into a client state, and am currently turning the Vigor Syndicate into their constituent scrap for their crimes against both humanity and my computer's FPS.
At this point, you can really just hope that X4 has been successful enough that Egosoft can afford to hire a few writers who know what they're doing. :D
You are correct capital ship shields have no delay to regen contrary to S & M ships. On flak and plasma turrets i would definitely add projectile speed mods instead of pure damage.
I mean, it does fit well with the visuals of Max walking up to an enemy agent and double-tapping them in the skull before calmly walking away. No need for any visual frills - he's not there to give you a show, he's there to make a problem no longer be a problem.
That's mostly because when looking at it from the bridge it's too far away. It does look spectacular when you're seeing it up close from a fighter or corvette. Had it happen once when I was busy harassing a K and destroying its surface element. Didn't notice the approaching Asgard until a giant laser of doom went straight through the capital ship beneath me and obliterated it in an instant lol. Now if only the AI wasn't complete crap at aiming that thing....
@@nineflames2863 I'm just like... It's the biggest gun in the game, as far as I recall. It should have some Space Battleship Yamato 2199 level Wave Motion Gun-like effects. 'Do not look directly at beam, even if on ship' kind of vibes.
My 2 odyssey E were named CCP Potkustart (kickstart) and CCP Kalinka. Destroyed both in after pilot error. shortcut through xenon territory to Family Zhin, met 4 xenon H and 5 K's. The 1st one i hope that CCP Kickstart name lives on in some of your fleet
That shortcut is one of the most rage inducing things in x4, the only safe scumming I have done was when my brand new raptor decided to cut through despite the global blacklist and specific orders to go around and ran into 2 ks and an i.
I remember in a previous game, vanilla and no modded ship components. I had a Behemoth E. In Heretic's End. Took me over an hour to take a hive down. Really showcases the difference.
I think the real losers of that opening fight are the Terran recruiters. Now they have to explain to every recruit why they shouldn't just sign on with Terminus.
Damn. Finally caught up. I am actually a little sad that I did because now I have to wait until a new episode drops. It has been a while since a series has made me this excited. Good job.
Ehh... While the Max Pechado is back in the rear, you may want to plug in the old OBD2 reader- I saw a check engine light on your dashboard while engaging the station
I've put around 86 hours into my current game by now, only just did the Covert Operations questline. I finally get it. I think I know what you're planning and I'm _very_ excited to see how different our universes are.
As an aside, could you imagine working in a large company where the CEO had the ability to teleport? It'd be close to a living hell, you'd be sitting around the canteen complaining about your jobs and suddenly the boss man pops into a chair and asks what's going on I think Perun needs to start paying his staff more to compensate for the constant state of anxiety they must all be in 😂
@the_amazing_raisin I randomly dropped into the casino in forge complex mars once just to check it out. I the wondered how real employees would have responded to the boss just turning up at the bar after a shift. I think the teleportation tech is meant to be a secret but I'm not sure there's in universe confirmation of that.
@@PerunGamingAU There'd definitely be a rush to hide all the beers they expensed on the company tab I'd like to think the teleportation is one of those company secrets that everyone knows about. There's definitely a hidden channel on the company chat for tracking the CEOs location
Yeah I'm pretty sure the Corporate P&L can easily take a +200% increase in labor costs... of 0 Cr Hey, it's not slavery if employees are happy to be paid in MREs and packs of bandaids.
That Ravager kill with the Asgard was kinda anti-climatic. You really built it up as a big threat and then you just go right up to it, shoot one beam and *boop* it is dead 🤣 That Asgard is just too much!
Every time I look at the map in X4 it makes me think of how perfect a Star Wars overhaul mod would be. I imagine the cockpit stuff would be a real pain to make, though imagine walking around on the bridge of your very own Star Destroyer within a fleet of them, with crew down in the pit busy at work. A man can dream
just a friendly bit of advise: AI is really bad at properly utilizing the asgard, they fail to properly target high priority targets and stay in the backlines to snipe them with the main gun. it may be a good player ship but don't use them in your fleets if you plan to set them to AI control because destroyers are way better at station and capital ship warfare + they're more efficient in terms of resources per firepower PS, if you want a spreadsheet explanation, captain snuggles made videos on destroyers and asgards taking out stations.
You should pair an Asgard with a Carrier. And name the Carrier “Yggdrasil” (and give the Asgard a nice Norse mythology themed name) This will just be one battle group. Perhaps even a full carrier strike group.
10:00 explosions of a station can cause significant damage to your modules. Leaving you without guns and engines if you aren't careful. That said, not only the main shield needs modding but the engines' shields, too. Actually, especially the engines' shields.
Really enjoying the series so far, actually made me start playing x4 again! Noticed you going to livestream view when trying to show off cinematic battles, not sure if you know that you can control/rotate external cameras with numpad as well!
I've been looking forward to seeing how you handle the covert operations in your playthrough, you've been hinting at the resolution in most episodes. I've never chosen the path you seem to be intending to take so it will be interesting to see how everything plays out. Anyway, here's more completely unsolicited advice that I'm sure nobody is interested in: The Kha'ak in Mists of Artemis permanently respawn if my save is anything to go by. I don't *think* they will move out and attack your ships unless they get too close, but if you use L miners they can't really damage them anyway. ARG L Beam turrets have a much faster rotation speed, idk if that's worth considering or if you'd rather stick to Terran stuff. Terran tech looks cooler and is maybe more in-character anyway. You may need substantially more building drones and crew at your shipyards, potentially hundreds of drones and a few thousand crew over what the stations asks for in order to have more reasonable build times. Unless I've been lied to, more crew means faster build speeds.
@PerunGamingAU - Question about "it's not throughput, it's efficiency" - around 16:55. Would'nt that mean instead of 1 input product = 1.1-1.2 output product (per unit of time or whatever) - it would be something like 0.8 input = 1 output (per same unit of time)?
Love you videos pal, really inspiring some choices in my x4 game. Hope you'll consider doing another themed series after this one... I know you love your mega stations but have you ever tried playing only building small stations like the AI? PITA to get going but definitely slows the power creep
To enhance a complex game like X4, I think Perun needs some strong mechanics for government affairs and factions, potentially enabling takeovers through legitimate (or not-so-legitimate) means.
So I have two name suggestions: 1) Given how you're harvesting old, broken, and otherwise out of service ships in Getsu Fume and elsewhere to rebuild them as functioning ships of dubious quality I think that the shipyard there should be called UralVagonZavod. 2) In order to mend the rift between Emutopia and Kiwiland I feel like you should extend an olive branch to the Kiwilanders and name one of your capital ships the Jonah Lomu
41:42 I don't know too much about spycraft Ms Shiratori, but I figure you'd get better results if you didn't directly contact your agents while they were on-mission
The Argon did indeed blow up Earth's orbital ring, and killed millions in the process. This int the terrans version of history, its the intro cinematic to Terran Conflict.
