You may think a trillion dollars company should receive more credit from consumers but consumers deserve better than the low quality standard Xbox has been giving them for years.

I feel that he did good things for the brand but also that he never took advantage of the IP potential like gears, a game that remained stagnant and is not at the level of the trilogy, Halo Phil had 10 years to make decisions but he left people who affected the franchise in charge mcc 5 and infinite. and in 10 years it still doesn't bring game of the year type of game

Not sure if you mentioned FPS boost, but that was my favorite feature. They brought to the backwards compatibility enhancements.

Devs don't necessarily optimize anything for the Steam Deck. It's just lowering the settings to low and hope it runs. Valve will than greenlight titles they know will run

I love the channel, Destin…but something about the rate of which you upload conflicting videos (even if by title alone) causes pretty big whiplash and some level of retroactively diminishing the impact or significance of previous videos of yours. I understand you can both criticize and praise the same thing for different reasons. But again, the rate at which you do this can give churning out content for contents sake vibes. I sorta got the same feeling when you were slamming the reaction videos every day or more.

Yesterday was 'Xbox Needs To Start Making Sense' and today is 'Xbox Deserves More Praise For Their Wins: A 10 Year Look'. I don't disagree with anything Destin has said but doesn't this give mixed messages?

As a lifelong Nintendo fanboy, now PC-only guy, I've started developing a soft spot for Xbox over the years. I've found myself getting more & more annoyed when I see console wars comments, especially ones intentionally spinning things to be anti-Xbox. Even the recent Scott the Woz video annoyed me (Gaming on a Budget) when he got to Game Pass. It's like he missed the entire point of the service and went out of his way to make it sound like a ripoff. I have PC Game Pass, and it's the ONLY sub service I keep monthly. Even canceled Netflix after the last price hike, but I keep GP because it's just that valuable to me. The discovery aspect & trying out new games I'd otherwise never spend money on has opened me up to so many great games. And even though he tries to make the point "it would be cheaper to buy the handful of games you want," I completely disagree. Just 2 new games covers the entire year of PC GP, and everything else is extra. And since everything on PC is digital anyway, "owning" games I've beat has no tangible value to me. Out of my 200+ game Steam Library, 90% sits uninstalled. I'm not going back to play these games, and theres even more games I bought that I never even played. At least with GP I'm not worried about wasting extra money on games I install & don't touch. I can't resell these digital games, so what is the benefit for someone like me to buy all these games rather than play the ones I want & not spend extra money? Anyway, even the transparency gets them extra hate. While Xbox got attacked like crazy for being up front about the most games being cross gen for the first couple years of Series S/X, Sony lied and said "we believe in console generations for a reason," ensuring fans their prescious "exclusives" will be PS5-only. Fast forward 3 years, and nearly all 1st party Sony games were cross gen too. My rant is too long already, so I'll stop here 😅

Destin the problem with the series S is the amount of ram, the steam deck has 6gb more! Devs are tired of working around 8gb of ram

Xbox was on a set trajectory to die after the 2013 Mattrick reveal. Regardless of it was Phil or someone else down the line, xbox was always going to end up where it is now. That 2013 decision cascaded harder than the Patriot Act in terms of consequences

Xbox has done SO MUCH since their OG console that now is being taken for granted as a “standard” is ridiculous. From Xbox Live, To Achievements l, To Now Gamepass and Game Preservation. This is why Xbox is my fav gaming brand by far. They push gaming forward.

If it wasn't for ms's billions xbox would've gone the way of the Dreamcast after the xbox one. This gen has been a case of "All the gear and no idea" I think Phil should move on and hand the reigns to someone hungrier if they're gonna reverse being a dying brand.

Phil has gotten his compliments through the years. That doesn’t mean that he deserves to keep getting them specially if the criticisms are for new decisions fans disagree with.

Phil is a boss, and I hasve been a happy customer for a while. But I dont make a console the centre of my identity so I am not as invested in the activities of acompany. But Phil has done a great job, anyone saying otherwise is not being objective.

I find it so odd that this gentleman works for ign with such an astonishing amount of Xbox fanboyism. I would think that employees would need to be somewhat impartial but based on these videos, and even more apparent on twitter (I’ll wait for the comments claiming ign is all about ps bias)

Phil inhereted an Xbox division on a death bed and turned it into a division of MS taking in more money than Windows. Hate the guy all you like for console war BS, but the guy has done the work.

They’ve gone from being known as Gears, Halo, Forza, to now consolidating and adding more Fallout, ESO, and Starfield (I guess). It’s just more consolidating for the sake of creativity and doubling-down on anchor titles that are just more of the same. Sony definitely does this too - but they at least put out solid titles.

Xbox deserves where they are at. Just like PlayStation did during the PS3 days.

My gripe against Xbox started with the Xbox One. their physical AAA games are basically proof of purchase. I'm not paying $60/$70 for a paper weight. I like to own the games I buy. If Xbox started using 100gb like PlayStation. I'll invest in the console/platform like i did in the 360 era...

This is why I commented on your other video saying that Xbox doesn't NEED to do anything but continue to be committed to their investments in Xbox (team), developers, and customers. Sony doesn't do anything in particular that the media or the community pleads for, they just stay steady fast in their commitment on their vision and quality software. Same with Apple.

As someone that owns both a Series S and X, Xbox is a joke and a laughing stock in the gaming industry. The lack of good consistent exclusives is the biggest thing, always has been since the 360 ended. Hellblade 2 running at 30fps on Series X is laughable. Now everyone is asking if Gears 6 and every other first party game will be 30fps. Gears and Halo ain't been good in a long long time and people are bored of Forza which the last Motorsport one sucked.

It's hilarious whenm Sony Fanboys talk about games. Seriously, take away Sequels, Remakes, and Remasters and name the NEW games Sony has?

I love Xbox, have loved it since I first bought Halo 1. Phil has done some good things, but WHERE are the games? We have soo many first party properties that aren't getting used, and the closest we've gotten to a Sony level first party game, is a damn 6 hour Hellblade 2, which yeah some people are gonna love it, but its definitely not a 20 million sales level hit.

It seems people in the comments want the channel to either bash Xbox or kiss it's ass. Why can't the channel just be unbiased and give praise when it's deserved and shit when they mess up

After this whole Hellblade II debacle I'm convinced that people would rather prefer last generation graphics as long as they get a somewhat stable 60 on their frames. They don't care about True graphical fidelity because that may equate to lower framerates. As long as Hellblade II has a solid 30fps I really dont care (It's not going to be a fast paced game that demands higher frames like Halo or CoD) This is honestly the first gorgeous game that actually shows off just how powerful the Series X/S are, Not included is the Matrix demo. Shout out to the Xbox Coalition for that Beautiful demo BTW✌🏾. I'm sure the game is going to be great and the graphics on it look better then Biowolf the CGI movie.

They have done a lot to shore up their ecosystem, accessibility, and a lot of other things. At the end of the day, it's all about the games, and Xbox does not have system-sellers.

Question for multi-system owners....particularly Xbox and "Namco" Playstation... I bought a Nintendo Switch, when Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 came out, so that kinda...technically...makes me a multi-system owner 🙂? I operate it strictly as a handheld, no dock, it's not taking up extra HDMI ports 🙂. Buying multiple NEXT GEN consoles, I've always found that ridiculous...even IF Sony has a particular third party game held hostage 😂 Just on a games level...Microsoft has the muscle to pull in 90% of third party support that would be mysteriously exclusive to "Square Enix" Playstation had they been Sega or Nintendo. The other 10% that's exclusive to "Naughty Dog" Playstation? I can find a similar game on Series X, whereas it's not worth paying Sony's ransom. FF, there's great RPGs on Series X. Spider-man is in Ulimate Alliance 3, Midnight Suns. Less teraflops, but still 😂. God of War, Gran Turismo, Last of Us...a SIMILAR experience is somewhere across XBOX gamestop shelves, Amazon, Xbox Store or Gamepass. But in a technical sense too...do you have your "A" console hooked up to your "A" man cave home entertainment system, and your "B" console to the "B" setup in the bedroom 🙂? Or do you have everything hooked up to the "A" set up? You got controllers and peripherals on top of each other? I don't need two blu rays, two big screens, two PCs, two phones, two tablets...I only NEED ONE 🙂. Maybe you see it differently... Lastly...where did you find TIME, for every "must have" game, on EVERY system 😂?! Got a JOB 😂?! Other hobbies, like movies?! Streaming?! I barely got time for the one system I DO have 😂! On vacation for the next ten days, more time now! Usually its one session a day on weekdays, and longer sessions on weekends. I only got time for Switch, as a "second system" because it comes WITH me 😂! Gamepass comes with me too, but connection issues with my tablet.

What happened was simple … not enough AAA highly acclaimed top tier really good must play games.

A. Back compatibility is great but playing old games aren't saving the brand. Higher textures were already in the source code and scaled down for optimization. Xbox had a whole conversation about having a program that can port an x360 game to x86 in like 15 minutes. B. .gears 4 and 4 was nurtured in the violence department, blood is cartoonish and fighting robots that dont bleed, tell you everything you need to know. Gears 5 was just as bad. Also, the coalition helping with other games being developed is no different than delegating more employees to an important work task. Its common place in any company. C. Xbox one had a super fast ram cache chip that held 1MB of data. It couldn't hold 1 frame of 1080p data. Every developer hated it and compared it to PS3 spe's cores which resulted in worse performance overall. Which is why even after freeing up resources gutting the kinect OS layer...it still ran at 900p. D. Xbox blows.

Peter Moore and Don Matrick did better at getting good games on xbox. Most of the exclusives under Spencer were disappointing and released either broken or barebones. Xbox would have never gone multiplatform if they were still competitive with playstation.

I like your channel but your grasping. Xbox's biggest problem is constant promises each generation and not giving players a consistent cadence of top tier games to match those hype cycles. Don't blame the consumer for Microsoft marketing.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind not making any games. We lost the console war so why bother? Just make the games and build your core audience. You know why Nintendo is still around? Because they have a core audience and caters to them. Phil needs to understand this.

Phil has kept Xbox in the same pole position they’ve been in since 2001. What has he exactly done? Xbox isn’t more popular than it was back in 2005 and actually you can see Xbox popularity has decreased. Their major 1st party titles aren’t winning GOTY awards. GamePass has conditioned the fanbase to not buy games so what exactly has Phil done?

This video is pointless and irrelevant; missing the big picture. No one cares about the business side of xbox. People want fun and enticing games like playstation, nintendo and pc have. Xbox has jack squat, except for the occasional 3rd party GOTY's companies allow on their console, now and again.....period.

As much as I love my Series S , playing Alan Wake 2 was a chore. Especially trying to find all the collectibles for 100% . It crashes to the dashboard at least every 30 minutes. Was definitely not powerful enough to handle the game and worries me thinking about playing newer AAA games on it.

The series s argument is whether or not MS will pay to put the game on gamepass. If not then the sales will be worse than the steam deck focused pc sales. As much as I like gamepass MS has set the standard on xbox to not buy games on the platform for normie gamers.

He defintely has not failed but the issue with first party games is annoying, there has not really been anything released by their many studios that is truly amazing, they really have to improve this a lot. Gamepass has been great, the hardware is excellent for the most part and backwards games is great, but like i said the first party games really has to improve.

I'll give them praise for 3 things, backwards compatibility, free upgrade to play on next Gen console, and game pass but it's a double edged sword. There are still limitations to backwards compatibility which are the licensing and having to download it to see if it's playable. Game pass which is a good deal but not all Xbox games are on there plus they keep raising the price of the subscription.

The fact that people still take part in console wars and most of them are adults is beyond me. Need to grow up. I’m looking forward to stellar blade on my PS then 2 weeks later Hellblade 2 on my Xbox. Now imagine claiming to be a gamer then limiting the games you play. I was looking at this podcast, from an Xbox guy that's...a little more supportive and upbeat...of the brand 😂? Series X is gonna really be bringing it later this year! Never mind Hellblade 2, that actually looks like the WEAKEST of what's coming 😂! Clockwork Revolution, Stalker 2...I'm primarily strategy now, but I still get my FPS on 😂! Stalker 2 takes place in the Chernobyl disaster, mutants and that kinda thing. Looks badass. I hate RPGS...RTS and TBS are a faster paced, more exciting and gratifying offshoot of that, and are my top genre, go figure 😂. But Clockwork Revolution looks more like a FPS with RPG elements. If it doesn't have that...slow methodical pace...of most RPGs, I may pick that up, gotta see the reviews. A racing game for the gear heads, not into that...this is like the quiet before the storm!
