It's 2021 and this rant is still legendary

It’s still amazes me 5 years later, that one bad conference from Microsoft shifted an entire generation in Sony’s favor. To this day, Microsoft is still removing this stain from its legacy.

I'm here today for the 7 year anniversary of this legendary rant!

"Do we really want another Halo? Do we really want another Gears of War?" This question in 2019 is probably even more important

Today, Ps4 has sold 10 million consoles and Xbox One has sold 5 million consoles; a 2:1 ratio. Angry Joe was correct and major Nelson was a lying sob. Update 1: the Xbox One actually only sold 3 million consoles to consumers, while 2 million were to stores. Update 2: the Ps4 has now sold 13.5 million consoles with the Xbox One sitting at around 7 million consoles. Still a 2:1 ratio. Also, the Wii U has sold 7 million consoles, so another way of looking at it is the Ps4 has sold as many consoles as Xbox One and Wii U combined. Update 3: the Ps4 has now sold 18.5 million consoles! News regarding the Xbox One sales is fuck all, probably out of embarrassment. My guess is that the ratio is still 2:1.

lol my own mother, who knows NOTHING about games, when I told her it was called the XBOX One, she asked "But they already have the XBOX 360, why go back to 1? Why not XBOX 1080 or something?"

They changed it before release but the damage was already done. More people got PS4 instead.

Xbox One users should be thankful for the PS4's popularity. If it weren't for all the love Playstation got for providing basic rights as features, Xbox would be forcing consumers to put up with the restrictions they initially came out with at E3 2013. I'm hoping that likewise Playstation learn from Xbox introducing backwards compatability and announcing the beast Scorpio. Competition is indeed good for the consumer

Coming back to this over a year later and being reminded how Microsoft completely screwed us over. It brings my anger back knowing that Microsoft actually had the nerve to try and take our freedom of sharing games with our friends etc. WTF were they thinking, did they brainstorm bullshit when designing it? I actually bought an Xbox One and it had SO many issues, the 'friends list' pretty much involved me having to open the physical hardware to find it (not literally). My controller wouldn't connect to my console if I had my mic plugged in, stupid things like that. I traded my XB1 in for a PS4 and I never looked back.

Fast Forward to Today, I think we can all now officially declare this moment as the day that ultimately killed xbox & began it's eventual downfall. The 360 Era turned out to be the peak of xbox's success because xbox just never ever recovered after hosting this infamous reveal event.

I love returning to this video to remember how evil Microsoft is at its core. I’m convinced this reveal was a large scale social experiment, designed to test how people would react to all the proposed Xbox limitations. The people fought back and Microsoft was forced to backtrack. An almost identical scenario was repeated 4 years later in 2017 with EA’s Battlefront 2 and the borderline criminal micro-gambling system they implemented. Once again, gamers united as one and told EA to fuck off. These poisonous corporate inspired schemes are a recurring pattern I’ve noticed and it’s important that we be mindful. These companies will never stop trying to force new systems and rules which limit your freedom as a gamer. Companies like Microsoft and EA want to shift the industry into a different direction which means less freedom and fun for gamers and more money for them. They want to squeeze you so tight into a corner that you’ll end up paying a fee just to turn on your console. They will keep trying to make such fees and limitations normal, hoping that people give in. I say fuck them. It’s been 5 years since the Xbone released and I haven’t given a cent to Microsoft. I’m so glad Sony’s PlayStation 4 crushed the Xbox One into dust with double the sales and this is coming from a 360 fanboy.

Joe totally called it. 18:38. A generation later and it's still true. Despite it's issues, the 360 was a contender. I loved mine while I had it. While the series X/S has it's fans it's tough to argue against the PS5's numbers.

Phil Spencer really changed the Xbox brand as a whole. If it weren't for him, Xbox definitely wouldn't have survived. Phil is a true gamer and he understands what gamers want. He isn't some kind of executive like Don Mattrick that was only thinking about money and TV.

I still regret buying my Xbox One. I brought the Titan Fall edition and there's NOTHING special about it except that it comes with the actual game. It fucking sucks, most of the games that came out sucks, and have massive issues with the home screen. Btw... Don't fucking release a recording feature if I can't uploaded it on Facebook. I'm actually debating in trading my Xbox One in to get a PS4, but since I paid over 500 bucks. Most likely I'm just going to throw my xbox one in the corner and get the PS4 like everybody else did. I had to give xbox another chance and they fucked that up. I played the PS4 last week and my friend house and fell in love with it. Matter of fact; I wanted to take my Xbox One to gamestop that EXACT day to get my PS4 but they was offering me a low ball price for it and I said fuck it.
