Pin 1? Sorry but the pin you are testing is in fact the gate of a 12Volt Power Mosfet Chip "PIN 4". Pin 1 of most if not all chips are usually marked by a dot or dimple, which BTW can also be located on the PCB so that the chip can be properly re/located to the PCB, other than that, great video..
Great video, if possible consider showing people the meter settings and try to zoom in on or show a diagram as to what pins they should be testing.. Appreciate you taking the time.. ty
My Xbox One S powers on with the FAN plugged in, no drives. After I connect the CD and HDD, it will power off 2 to 3 seconds after I switch it on. I managed to boot once and set the power mode to quick start so that it doesn't go off completely. That kept it working fine until one day i had to unplug the power. Since then i haven't been able to get it to power on without going off a few seconds later again. What could be the problem?
will heat up much quicker if you rig up a reducer tip to your heat gun. can even make one pretty easily. also will be easier for you to test those pins and small parts if you simply solder a small wire to the tip of your multimeter probes. just mentioned cuz I'm sure u have problems with touching other pins or parts sometimes with those fat standard probes. those are more for electrician work than logic boards
Hi. Thanks for the video. Im wondering if the 3 grey wire are +12V and the 3 black are the negative ones bcz i cant find any diagram on the internet. Thanks in advance.
Work in electronics industry myself and I would certainly recommend you purchase a set of trays or something for those boards. They are sensitive to static electricity. Leaving them on a carpet is just asking for more trouble. Good video but please get those poor boards safely stored :)
where is this short on the xbox one OG like where are the test points for that I have a similar issue but i cant verify it from the test because the original doesn't have the power supply built in
I am testing the same thing on a regular xbox one motherboard, all the mosfets are apparently okay, but when I test voltage the mosfets are only receiving/outputting 0.2V! Any clues what the problem might be?
for me to get mine fix might just cost me the same amout to buy a new one, kinda sucks, wish there was people with your skills close by but nope. good vid
Yea bro might as well buy a new one or look for one on the app "Letgo". I bought an Xbox one s for $100 from someone and it was worth it it came with 2 controls and headset
Hey man I changed all three mosfets and it's reading right now. No short on the mother boards power supply plugin. Xbox comes on goes right back off as soon as you turn it on light comes 9n fans turns then goes off before it was doing nothing
Hy, please I need help,I took of first mosfet and I put on continuity and put black probe on first pin from left and red probe on left diode and is being,I change the mosfet and still beep and no reading only the first mosfet, what can I check? PLEASE!!!!
Great video what's the name of the chip or where we can buy it if we don't have a donor board (Also) if you could link where we could buy all the tools used would be awesome one question. When you test the chip is the mother board plugged in when u use the diometer or how did u do that
Was it turning on and instantly turning off before you repaired it? I also have the same issue but it’s intermittent. Sometime it turns on and i could play for hours without issues
My friend gave me his old xbox one s and it doesnt turn on at all....no fans or beeps or noises and no lights...nothing at all happens....what do you think could be problem? I ordered an internal power supply just have to wait for my torx10 screw driver to arrive
Do you do repairs for ppl? Mine does the exact same thing and i dont have the tools to do it, for Microsoft to repair it is like 110$ so im not tryna spend that much
I have a white XBoX 1S, I have the issue where the console might turn on for a second make a beep but omnidirectional turn off. I purchased a new power rick and installed it myself, no change. I stop the Xbox down to the circuit board. I tested the three phases circuits and the capacitors everything is okay. What else could it be?
So I've got a one s, it turns on, the fan goes, then about a minute later it turns off by itself. I have no clue what it could be. Since it turns on and the fan works it's clearly getting power. But after about a minute or so it shuts off. Any suggestions? And I dont get any display
@@shannonharvey8300 that wouldnt have fixed anything. It just turned itself off. What I did is took apart a second xbox one s that I knew was working and tried the working power supply, didnt change anything. Then I tried the working hard drive and sure enough that fixed the problem. So I installed a new hard drive and it was good to go. Apparently these hard drives from the factory are prone to getting bad sectors and when they go bad it wont load anything on the screen.
Mine makes the power on noise, then the off noise and then a short beep, then shuts off, there’s a quiet rumble/rattle noise when plugged in, help please
Josh Chadwick no.. It was a motherboard issue.. Had to change the entire motherboard then sold it off 🤦🏻♂️ Issues like these are prone to happen again..
Mine does the same thing where it turns on then like 30 seconds later it shuts off. Please view my video and let me know if its the same problem you had
Can u fix my console if it has water damage? It’s a Xbox one s and every time I press the button to turn on it beeps for like 2 seconds then shuts off????
Fixed a couple with this issue once. Purchased two new power eject PCBs and worked fine after water damage. Many use hairdryers to warm them up. Some get lucky some dont. Hope this helps
Get a new power brick, if it turns off it means the power brick isint producing enough power, either it's completely dead or is just badly damaged, I had the same problem, I thought it was an HDMI problem when nothing would be on my screen when I would turn it on, but I got a new power brick and everything is fine now, been 8 months and still good ,
Hey there, Thanks for your informative video on how to fix the Xbox One S. I am having the issue where my Xbox One S Starts with a Chime and within a second Goes off with chime. I tried to investigate the problem and check for faulty devices such as Hard drive, Fan, Disc Drive, or even the Thermal Paste. Nothing was wrong, I even changed the thermal paste on the CPU. Funny thing is that, my Xbox One S will start and work as if nothing is wrong after every 4 days. I know it's the MOSFETs which causing this issue, not checked the readings yet. But want to know, why after 4 days my Xbox will start and i can play games upto how many hours I want, I played for straight 12 hrs, switched it off. Tried to swtich if on immediately, stuck in the on / off loop again . Please advice.
It depends on where you live but here in the UK I would look at companies like mouser and farnell? You would need the component number. Find the datasheet for the MOSFET and have a look through that in case there have been changes to the model number. Need any more help PM me :)
i am having a similar issue with 2 xbx1s's. similar in the sense they start up, and then shut down a sewcond or two later. no short on the main rail, all my "always on" rails (12v,5v,3.3v) are all present. i have 1v on my gpu/cpu/NB and 1.5v on mem. i am stumped thus far and am hoping to find out more when i bring them to work and take a look at the back side of the board under a microscope. its just hard to find a list of known good voltages as well as boardview files. anyone know where i can get them?
@@RepairLegion oh and just FYI those were not caps, they are resistors haha thats why they are labeled on the board with an "R" and not a "C" i also find it hard to believe there are NO boardviews, we even have them for apple products and they HATE right to repair lmao
@@RepairLegion if i get one of the two boards i am currently working on to work, i guess i will take one for the team and spend the 6 hours with a microscope and DMM, maybe even an LA, and make a boardview file for everyone.
Are you talking model number? If so search for the data sheet of the original MOSFET and the date sheet for the one you are considering and compare the two. I have purchased an Xbox one that's got this fault and will work on making a schematic and board view to help people out. Will subscribe and return here once done :) PM for more info
@@grimzy9522 i mean about the read in the multimetter, i use another multimetter and i get 0.627 in diodo metrics, but the 3 mosfet give me the same value, then maybe is another component that don't work and cause the xbox don't turn on
Did this Xbox in question ever get wet? I have seen in the past that moisture or liquid of any form can cause damage to the eject/power PCB which in turn causes the console to turn on and off instantly. If not liquid there may be an underlying fault with another component within that track. For example pin 4 of the MOSFET is the 12V gate. It goes through the capacitor. A leaking capacitor for example could cause issues. Follow the trace back from the MOSFET through the capacitor and see where it leads. I have a faulty Xbox one on route with this issue. Purchased for myself as a project to fix and build up diagrams of each section of the board. I will post them over to you via PM if you would like?
@@grimzy9522 i purchased my xbox with this fault, the old owner told me that the xbox get damage after a energy problems on his house, i don't see any zone with corrotion by watter o another liquid
@@slagdemon thanks bro just ordered one and a power supply unit just incase. I got sold a broken xbox (scammed) since it's pretty much a brick I wanna have fun and try and fix it
@@fbgzay9148 yeah get in there wd-40 on your toothbrush start scrubbing gently front and back of the motherboard removing residue and rust worked for me all the best good luck
I do, i got mi xbox back in Mexico, now after a year in Argetina after a very short blackout turn on after 7 or 9 second turn off, not even the fan start to work or any image on the screen, there is no spare parts here!, this making me crazy....
@@Mexicano_en_Argentina the same happened to me, a short blackout, and my xbox turns off after 5 seconds of turning on, i live in mexico and can't find any place where they can fix it, have you fixed it?
I have the same problem but all the mosfets are fine what else can I check ? How do i check the power point of a normal xbox one to see if it has short to ground ? Anyone help
@Paul Bedson, get the DVM and set to low Ohm Scale. * Place Black Prob Lead to Ground on circuit board (that the only large PCB) *.Place Red Prob on chip (look up part number in the internet for diagram) * A low reading is a short. If you had a short, then you will then get a open circuit. Think of it as a fuse. If you got a short, the fuse will be blown. Troubleshoot the short before replacing the fuse.
