I show you how to unpair (unsync or disconnect) the controller from an Xbox Series X or Series S. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am used to playing on consoles and recently got a PC version of a game and the keyboard controls are inefficient for my playing style and I couldn't figure out how to disconnect my 360 controller from the console to connect it to my laptop. Thanks for this. I was having an issue because I'd use my Series X controller via USB cable on my PC and whenever I'd finish gaming on PC and unplug the cable it would then pair and turn on my Series X. With the previous gen Xbox One controllers it would unsync from the console as soon as you'd plug it in to PC via USB.

Bro you don't know how much googling I had to do to find this. Thanks. I kept trying to play wired on my pc and it would disconnect all the time because it was connected to both pc and xbox at the same time and kept swapping off my PC. So annoying. this fixed the problem and I'm no longer disconnecting

On the Microsoft website people keep asking why would you want to unsync a controller. A good reason may be that someone else (who was previously synched) is using their controller to interrupt your game.

Did you ever find a solution for the Elite Series 2 controller? Tried the one in the vid and can also confirm that holding down the 'sync' button does not work.
