People are calling this the COD killer - but I don't hear anyone talking about what effect the game will have on the likes of tuna, salmon, mackerel, and other aquatic, gill-bearing vertebrate animals.
It did for me too, until I started seeing everyone fucking bunny hopping while shooting all the fucking time. Do devs not add aiming penalties for fucking bunny hopping?
Absolutely. Literally all I want is cod gameplay and no sbmm. Haven't have so much fun in a long time. I don't care about score either, just enjoy it. It is great to just chill from cs2
So far the game is a gem for me. Just needs a tdm. This game really takes me back to the days of CoD when I was a kid, glad I’m getting that feeling back. And more importantly I’m having fun.
To be fair they've also had to do like a year worth of beta testing to get the servers playable and they messed up the entire hype cycle for this game It was supposed to come out like 8 months ago and just kept getting pushed back not that I don't mind delays but they were way too confident with the initial release announcement
Payday 3 took a week or so. And afaik it's still somewhat broken by design as they only allow you to queue into one single heist out of dozens and one difficulty out of dozens at a time. The playerbase broke down quickly and now you can waste many minutes matchmaking and still not get any players to play with you. They fumbled the release of PD3 so bad, it's never gonna recover. That being said such server issues wouldn't exist anywhere at all if it were normal again for us players to host the servers like it used to be normal back in the day.
Ubisoft is a AAA games company so you should expect that there shouldn't be any server-related issues but alas. Pay Day 3 is an indie game but that sucks due to mismanagement and poor decisions.
@@Ccubed92 who gives a crap, trying to play the new cods is like jumping neck deep into a septic tank full of shit and trying to box other ppl in there. They will add more guns with updates. You probably only use like 3 of the best guns in cod at all times anyway.
I see 3 people that don't understand what a series is. He doesn't literally mean BEFORE YOU BUY a free game, its the name of the series whether or not the game costs money or is free doesnt change that
I'm not kidding, I swear this was on steam like 15 years ago. 6vs6, different maps, shields, f2p.... Then it was pulled from the store. One of the maps even looks the same.
A game doesn't always need to innovate or have some "ground breaking" new game mode. This game went back to the roots, to an era that we were all longing for. No bullshit shenanigans, just pure action
No no it does, this is boring same junk we've had for the last 10 years. . Why the hell would you want to play the same thing again, it's a game to play because you have nothing else to play and don't even care what your playing. Sorry I G2G there's some paint drying and I got to go watch it
@hutzdani87 I'll play this over a $70 dlc with terrible spawns, terrible maps, horrible ranked infested with hackers and $100+ micros any day of the week.
The cleaners are actually really op for damage because of the overtime fire damage, and that drone can one shot or severely damage the whole enemy team if you can aim it properly
Got to agree with you on that. I main echelon but I've died to sooo many cleaners or got backed down due to incendiary ticks. While I can say yea our "uav" normal ability pop is a bit op I think three factions have some sort of great things about em. A good medic ult is severely detrimental on capture while cleaners drone and passives can wreck entire teams if they have a decent gun with range and echelons uav can be spammed if you have 2 or 3 running it and they are communicating when they use it.
this game feels like cod back when cod was good. Please try it out everyone. It seems like actual passion went into it, unlike most games ubisoft release these days
Brother idk where you got that this game was made with passion, it feels like vanilla ice cream bought at Walmart. Really good vanilla ice cream yeah, but not a passion product and definitely not ground breaking
I think the thing about this game is it feels like BO2/Ghost era COD.. and it’s free. Many of us older call of duty fans don’t wanna play these new ones, so this is a perfect opportunity to grab players like myself. I’m all for it.
I was a competitive COD player until ghosts. I loved COD, and played thousands of hours per game. But when advanced warfare came out I completely quit COD and never came back. Tried it again with MW and Cold War, but still just not what I wanted anymore. I think SBMM was my biggest problem with the new ones though.
And honestly this review is how I felt in the first hour , then I changed settings and started realizing the flow of the game and how the abilities mesh with and counter one another. Huge Comp and casual potential here .
yeah this guys half assed videos and quick first impressions are worth as much as a rats fart in a tornado. How the f do ppl take anything he says seriously. Since when are tubers opinions highly valued? especially when they casually try something for 1 hour, completely miss the whole fucking point of the game, suck butt at the game, and only cared to try it for a video to begin with? wow some genuine experience being shared right here!
Another generic F2P game with a ton of MTX's that are of course highly overpriced. You are just enabling Devs/Pubs to continue pumping out these lackluster F2P titles. Yeah it will get better with time just like every other game. What matters is if a game releaseds broken, incomplete, etc... or completed and good, not how it is in the future.
@@aaronvasseur6559 not unless enough ppl played it then turns out they piked it more than cod give it some time just like any other new gane out there
@@TheGuyWithStuff But that doesn't mean much. CoD 4 is not only one of the best CoD titles ever made, but one of the best FPS games ever as well. CoD 4 is significantly better than any of the CoD titles released in the last 5 years. XDefiant might not be at the level of the greatest CoD releases. But it sure beats the current garbage Activision puts out. Current CoD isn't even a game, it is an algorithm.
@@TheGuyWithStuff MW19 is terrible. The last good CoD was Black Ops 4. After that they went all in with the rigged matchmaking and terrible game design.
@@hhaste yeah man, I agree. I cant stand SBMM. Absolutely hate it. Its ruined modern gaming for me. To be able to come to XDefiant and just play however I want, without SBMM pairing me up against elite players, has totally revived my desire to play.
Idk, it's nice knowing I can jump in not having to sweat my ass off every game. The gunplay feels good and satisfying. The abilities are fun but don't feel overpowered. I haven't had a moment where I'm like "oh that ability is completely broken" or "that's super annoying and op". The maps are great. The biggest thing this game does that many don't do anymore is communication. The devs actually talk and communicate consistently with the community. A game that has no sbmm, f2p, good gameplay, and devs that communicate. It's a recipe for success.
The Cleaners are a bit overtuned right now, faster TTK with incendiary bullets, 2 one shot abilities (Direct Drone hit and Firebomb) and Purifier is literally uncounterable if popped directly on you lol.
The point of no sbmm wasnt to make the game casual. The reason was to make it so your games arent being manipulated. The game is truly random with mm and doesnt feel like ur being forced wins or loses. Once again people dont understand why sbmm is bad and how it manipulates players as its primary function
SBMM is good. Most people are just too stupid to see it. The point isn't to force a 50/50 or "manipulate" the players. It's to keep games balanced and fair. CoD just doesn't know how to implement it and that's where this unnatural hate boner comes from
SBMM is only hated because it makes players who think they're good realise they're not when they get put in lobbies with people of the same skill bracket 🤣
Sbmm does not manipulate players it’s either your bad or your good and then the game matches players similar level to play against it’s a great system always has been it’s just people like to moan because there games are to sweaty oh well get good
@@zoppletee5400 “cod just doesn’t know how to implement it” well yeah they put it in casual game modes instead of just doing ranked like normal people, that’s why people hate it cuz it’s simple shit that’s already been figured out
@@aaronvasseur6559why yes, a lot of people don’t like playing sweaty games, that’s not even a skill issue that’s just “hey, I want to sit back, and enjoy myself” Again this is just shit that should have its own mode
Quick tip. The cleaners passive gives you incendiary ammo at the cost of damage range. Add range increasing attachments to your weapon and you become a force to be reckoned with 🤣
Just a note as someone who played both betas, the cleaners I wouldn’t say are useless. The firebomb ability is good for rushing into like a capture point since you explode and ignite the ground around you think like a suicide bomber. And the drones pretty fun too it’s basically a bomb in a straight line that ignites the ground as it moves
@@Jakesgotcakes I was playing earlier today someone threw a mine down on objective, activated fire bomb he literally suicide bombed a quad feed (5 including himself) respect 😂
The games servers were fixed in hours, games like payday, cod or battlefield took literal DAYS to fix. This game is free, and a very good one at that. The unique abilitys that characters have grant you advantages depending on the situation your in. Camoflague to flank with or healing to support your team. Game is very well made and to say theres nothing 'positive' is an understatement.
the thing i like about it is it is a life service game and if it has an constant player base i can play it for years and not have to buy the same game every year
@akashmalwatkar6609 you might be right but I have NEVER bought cod for warzone.. warzone is trash .. out of my 500 friends list maybe 2 play wz .. not saying your wrong just everyone I know buys for 6v6 and NEVER plays wz .. full of hackers , lag , loading issues, memory issues , ram issues and on and on ..
I mean yea... it's fine if they keep the current model... this is a good set up for a live service game. No cover charge, interesting cosmetics to keep a steady income coming. Plenty of properties to pull new content from (the guns he went on about, the factions, etc). The core concept has a fantastic setup for Live Service so long as Ubisoft doesn't ruin this one with greed.
Im SO GLAD you said that your shots didnt register day one i was saying this too and then when they released the shooting range i went and tested it and sure enough it doesnt register all the time
Call of Duty has ignored many of the things fans have been asking for and this feels like an answer to all that. It doesn't do anything revolutionary, it just gives fans what they want in an acceptable format that could easily be built upon in the future. The 'bones' of this game are super solid and I'm excited o see how they add onto it over time with new guns, modes, maps, etc.
I think Xdefiant, at least on pc, will have his glory days until the hackers swarm it. Ubisoft cant handle the hackers on R6 PC, so play it while you can peacefully.
This was pretty overly harsh imo. I quite like the game as someone who's just burnt out on COD for the past several years. The abilities make it a bit more strategic. Bringing in a bit of that Overwatch team play and synergy is a good concept. I expect the ranked modes will be a blast a few months down the line.
@@syfodiaz4936 It's almost like people can have different opinions.... someone doesn't have to say 'in my opinion he was super harsh'. OP liked the game more than Falcon did. Simple as that... they disagree with his takes (as do I) it's not much deeper than that. You and Falcon can have your opinions but I and OP will disagree... thus is the nature of humanity. Deal with it.
Expectations are always high for FPS games and it’s a crowded market, but I find this game far less sweaty than its competitors and has a simplicity that’s refreshing. I think it’ll find an audience.
True man FPS is the most main stream genre of games so anytime a new one comes out the entire gaming industry at least glances at it regardless of who made it.
I'm happy to hand over the Euros. I've been playing it daily, but I have refused to play CoD since season 2 of Al Mazrah. Activision/Blizzard can't get a cent out of me... but I can see myself buying credits on a regular basis just to show my appreciation. I had trouble matchmakiing on day 1 but things are cooking now. I'm glad to be grinding their battle pass. That's the very least that any of us can do because in life, we pay for services rendered.
Still having trouble getting into a match. When I do I get like one or two kills and the kicks me out every time. Then I’ll sit and wait for awhile for people to join its annoying
A free game made by a fraction of the devs, and yet it still beats COD into the ground in terms of being genuine fun. It obviously has its own problems, but that fun factor actually existing is nice to have again like how COD used to. And I completely disagree, the hook for the game isn't just no SBMM, but that it's a return to the golden age of arcade COD, which hasn't exist for a very very long time. It has precisely accomplished its goals of what it wants to be, even after the whole Tom Clancy debacle.
Agreed, it brings it back to the old arcade style while bringing new elements. Sure the Black ops 1 and 2 are fun, but they aren't modern and most of them you can't slide and have advanced movement
@TreyBeam Except you can literally be point blank and land a direct hit with a shotgun just to get a hitmarker... yeah the shotguns need to be buffed tremendously.
Mark rubin from cod4 codmw2 and ghost game. It's the golden days of cod. He is responsible for mp cod what we used to know. Good to see that it has similar feel.
It's a stutter fest on my PC. I don't know if XDefiant is inherently stuttery or if the game just isn't optimized well for Radeon GPUs. Or maybe, I just need to update my GPU drivers.
The game has been a fun time. It really reminds me of COD MW3 and BO1 with its gun play. I'm glad this is here as im tried of the way faster paced games of modern COD and some of the BRs we have.
it's Ubisoft, Consistent and quality never reflect their works and standards. While the right hand is making great games, the left hand is fucking up something in the background.
So true, I played Siege for a long time, and it always seemed like something was wrong with the game. I expect the same from XDefiant. I'm not sure if I want to play the game right now.
@@TheShapeshifter yeah I love Ghost Recon Wildlands as I love the map and South America. other than that, I haven't bought any recent AC games as AC black Flag is the last one I ever bought,
Like it or not cod is the benchmark for arcade shooters. And he is right its not as well animated or weighted as cod but its still a decent game.@@sharpshoota8274
ADS walking with attachments that increase ADS movement speed. ADS around corners, through chokes, or high traffic areas. Record your gameplay and review. If you are missing shots, the firing range can help to warm up. If it’s game sense, you’ll need experience. Stay on map periphery, lessening enemy line of sights in you. Be aware of your minimap radar. Holding high ground map periphery until you improve a little more. Slow down instead of running and gunning. Not camping but just keep that ADS tip to slow it up and give your self that extra 0.1 seconds on enemies. It makes a big difference.
This is the just the game I've been looking for because I have been wanting to get back into call of duty but I didn't want to play the newer ones because people have not had much good things to say about them and I didn't want to get back into the cycle of buying the new call of duty every year. And the older call of dutys don't have much players and have a terrible hacking situations on PC. I'm really hoping people will still be playing this game years down the line.
Don't. This is just Ubisoft being Ubisoft. Releasing trash f2p games to catch up on trends but it always fails. This won't be different. They will shut the game down in one or two years.
This is a long post, I’m aware lol I think the reason no sbmm is compelling to a lot of people (not all, but definitely me included) is because with sbmm-only all players have their lobbies artificially influenced to lean a certain way. If you start doing consistently well, the game literally puts you in a lobby it thinks you will lose. In my experience with Cod, you don’t experience the same sense of growth in skill because as you get better your lobbies get consistently more difficult. Having no sbmm doesn’t remove sweaty players, sure, but it doesn’t limit you to only playing with sweaty players. Inversely, a lower skilled player has a better time with sbmm because the game is giving them lower skilled lobbies, so I get why people argue for it, that makes sense for a casual player. But that’s why the decision to have an sbmm mode (ranked, etc) as well as a non-sbmm mode makes perfect sense. Both types of players (higher or lower skill) have the OPTION of how they want to play - either luck of the draw or a tailored experience based on skill. It’s less about only having no sbmm, and more about having both options. Everything being sbmm only gives you the tailored experience and players don’t always want that. There are absolutely difficult matches in XDefiant, even being an above average player, but also having the little breaths of fun lobbies where you can casually pop off adds a dynamic to the game and increases tolerance. People lose tolerance with Cod because you rarely get that “breath”. It feels punishing and you miss the reward you feel from improving or doing well. Put simply, you have fun more often when you have the option to choose skill-based vs non skill-based. Hopefully that’s not a super contentious opinion 😅
I'm level 80 in Modern Warfare 3 and I'm consistently thrown into full lobbies of 650's with like one other guy who's less than 100 on the other team maybe. It's something I pop into every now and again and I genuinely just don't have fun like I used to. A big part of it imo is the fact that everyone is running around like Fortnite characters and it takes that additional split second to tell if they're an enemy or not. Back in Modern Warfare 2 the entire team was mil-spec and the other was just jeans, tshirts and du-rags. Easily identifiable silhouettes. Now I gotta find out if the Nicki Minaj is on my team or not. Long story short, SBMM definitely does NOT work. Verifiably doesn't.
@@Hyrule409 yup - even when I stopped playing cod for months and came back after 1 or 2 games when SBMM sees I still have my skill, it shoots me up to the sweaty lobbies and the enjoyment usually goes out the window.
Really fun game! I died a lot but it felt amazing when I got killed. Wish that the dedsec faction was available off the but whatever. Also, I was on console I didn't have that problem with the matchmaking issue, but ig I was playing later in the day so I got on after it was taken care of?
Yeah same. I like free games because if it's something that I actually eventually like I feel like spending money is fully my choice vs spending money up front for a game that turns out to be trash and not being able to get a refund later.
Lmao your standards must be low then, no wonder games like Overwatch 2 & Halo Infinite got fans who ignore the greedy, terrible, dev decisions. It’s fine to have that mindset but that’s why these games are rushed and mediocre. Y’all people accept this “free” slop 😂
I get where this is coming from, but this is also the reason we get lower quality games that likely would’ve otherwise been made better. Obviously there are some pretty good ftp games but there has very clearly been a trend of low effort games that have aggressive monetization. Hell, OW2 is literally (not figuratively it literally is) OW1 but with an expiring battle pass and skins that are now $20 when they were free to earn when you only paid $40 dollars for the game. And that was at non-sale price!
stop watching extremely misinformed yt channels like this one then. This game was made by ex pros to avoid the modern goyslop stink, and bring back the 2012 stink.
@@123SLM123 this guy "before you buy" is an extremely bad source of information. This is a very insencere review of an hour of casual play. He doesnt even understand the point of this game. Comparing it to other games, when its supposed to be a slight outlier, is moronic
The thing about no SBMM is, after a month(ish) when the game inevitably starts to lose players, the cod refugees running from SBMM will be the majority of the player base thus they end up playing each other and creating its own SBMM system. It’s kinda fun but it’s black ops 4 from temu.
@@sandr921 what worked for the cods of the past was innovation. It’s sad to say but, the team based respawn multiplayer game model is dead. It’s been done to the best of it’s capabilities many years ago in early cod and we’ve just been chasing the dragon. If you’re young and 2019 was your first cod ever, you’ll never know but for people who’ve been playing since the beginning the franchise has been on autopilot for a while now and the lack of passion is obvious. Xdefiant will not be the savior of the arena shooter.
@@CrookedPhalange Yeah but it will be a much better alternative to shelling out money for a full priced yearly cod game that's hardly worth that price. If the genre is dead and this game ends up doing well enough it's an easy barrier of entry to download a free game for a fill of that kind of gameplay whenever you feel like it.
@@ARottenMuffin that’s true but, free brings a ton of opportunities for cheaters and I feel like everybody is forgetting this is Ubisoft. At some point they’re gonna want to make their money back and there’s already more things to buy than content in the game.
I can’t see anyone in this comment section talking about the garbage netcode in this game, probably the worst I’ve ever experienced in any shooter. It feels like I’m playing on an Xbox 360 COD built on an engine from the 90’s. Non existent hit registration, getting shot around corners and while in cover, phantom bullets, dying in under half a second while the enemies are all bullet sponges. While I’m not amazing at this game, it’s happening far too consistently for it to only be a skill issue, and this doesn’t happen to me rarely ever in other shooters. It’s a shame too because the core gameplay is really fun but the poor netcode completely ruins it for me.
Played this game for the last 2/3 days, I stopped playing call of duty for a long time, I found fun in other games, but this game has made me fall back in love with FPS
Thanks for the info! Didn’t know anything about this until a coworker had me watch someone play it. I was wondering why the level he was playing looked like a division level. Too bad there’s no TDM. I would’ve loved to play it. Hopefully they add it in the future. Will be trying this with an open mind for sure. Kinda tired playing mw3’s seasons
I used to like call of duty, the Devs ruined it, but I'm in love with x defiant at the moment I can't believe the Devs actually care about their community and their opinions
idk, in my humble opinion, I am loving the casual feel, randomness, something new, COD has done nothing to brain rot everyone thinking that is the top tier shooter, when they've been literally exploiting the market, cough cough** MW3... BUT I started playing this game with the same mindset I had when I played BO2, just trying to enjoy it instead of the regular overly critical, I feel like as long as everyone puts their 2 cents they can push this game to its potential and polish it right with its time, I don't think is a bad thing with it being a littleee more laid back imo.
So far the game is enjoyable for me, it's free, not a lot of sweats (yet). the art style reminds me a lot of the early Xbox One and PS4 CoD games, but also something about the weapon textures reminds me of the first Homefront game on PS3 and Xbox 360. Also pretty bold to not have the option to prone or ping enemies. I mean it delivered what it said it would and that's a F2P casual shooter. Just hope it isn't abandoned due to low battle pass revenue.
Tbh, I’d rather just play cod, the lack of pings, the lack of score streaks and the limited abilities makes me feel like I am running out of ammo every life, using my secondary and only having one nade per life is super frustrating cause I gotta pick up other peoples guns to keep killing
Lol jokes aside it does seem like that Apex, brawlhalla, cod. People have no lives and dedicate every minute to these games where it's not fun for casual gamers who barely have 7 hours a week to play games .
@@prollysage Growing up I had all the call of duty games but no internet, but when I finally moved out and got internet, that was the game that released, so its kind of nostalgic to me because it was the first cod I got to play online
Started playing it yesterday and been having fun ever since reminds me of the old cod days and i will continue playing it and the servers are fixed within hours
since the classes are based on other ubisoft games, it would be really cool if they revived Hyperscape as a playable class in this game. I would just love a little nod to that game from ubisoft man, it was so fun and didnt deserve to die
This game has so much potential and is very good off the rip in terms of baseline content. Imagine the amount of themed guns and characters they can add. Zach from FC3, Marcus or wrench from watchdogs, Sam fisher, R6 siege characters.
