This is the cutscene the introduces the players the TRUE Protagonist and the TRUE Hero of the entire story. Riki is, without a shred of doubt, the Protagonist that saves the entire world. Truly, a hero worthy of note.
Mei: “ Heropon is Volley ball too! Caring and Integrity is best in HeroPon, legendary for a reason! Mei wishes he was single…” Me: “ Mei get back in the fanfiction universe!” [Kicks Mei into portal]
@@nepnep615 Shoulda rephrased it, I hadn't played the Original Version before but I pre ordered the Definitive Edition haven't finished it though but I did get to that scene
Riki in cutscenes throughout the game: Nooo, I mascot, I not good fighter Riki in gameplay: Did Hom Hom call for DPS, Tank, Mage and Healer all rolled into one? No? Now Hom Hom has one
Riki: Riki Act like that to make HomHom friends feel good about themselves! If Riki take all credit no one would play as them! HomHoms mean everything to Riki!
@@notavailable8201 That's right! There's also a scene where Riki tells Dunban that he needs a break and he can't go on. But in reality he said that so that Melia could have a break, because she would never ask it herself.
I like how when the party's getting pelted with mushrooms, everyone is trying to cover their faces, even Reyn, and then there's Dunban just looking at them and not flinching even once.
Melia's flawless volleyball pass being done with so little preparation is just perfect. She's like "yeah, Nopon fall out of the sky and I swat them away all the time, what of it?"
*The virgin tora* Doesn’t have the potential to be a driver So lonely makes sex bot Doesn’t have any heal arts Is limited to 4 actions during combat Needs to play an arcade game for 10 hours to get any good as a party member Has dreams of getting cucked by tasty sausage *The Chad Riki* Doesn’t need a blade Has healing arts Negotiates trade deals with merchants, saving money Is the prophesied legendary nopon hero So good that he can be a tank and the healer Wields magic staff, throws it at enemy
Can I just say it's refreshing to have a cute non human party member not have low defense or hp in an rpg. I was seriously happy when I saw that max hp.
He's the size of a volleyball, looks like a pinecone in heavy armor, and somehow is the best tank in the whole game. All the child making he does must have built that endurance.
When i first played the game, i didn't get why everyone hated riki, because when i played with him i noticed he had a higher level than all my party, i just thaught "this guy's op!"
What's funny about Riki is that he was intended to have the lowest HP out of all the party members but then one guy one the development team changed it so that he would have the highest HP as a joke but everyone ended up loving it so they kept it in.
@@darkstorm2579 Well it's no wonder if he's treated like that by his fellow villagers on a daily basis. Being thrown with mushrooms, getting flinged from what's essentially the 6th floor of a building, and don't forget taking care of his many many kids. He needs a lot of HP to stay alive 😂
Riki's got a wife, kids, debts... Dude's got real world problems in a fantasy land of tree dwelling fuzz balls. Also who hates Riki? I love gearing him towards a mix of stacking damage over time and party support, fits my playstyle like a glove.
I found a weird bug in the HD version... After this scene, Riki got into the first slot in my party and I haven't been able to remove him. Anyone else have this problem?
That's a weird bug... You managed to fix it yet? On a side note if you don't, Riki is the best character you can have to get stuck as the party leader. You can finish the rest of the game with him as leader.
@@loafofbread9400 Eh that's up to you. For me, he's a good tank, he dumps stat debuffs to enemies and can also heal. With that kind of versatility I'd prefer to control him myself. The AI is too dumb to make quick decisions for healing or casting stat debuffs effectively when things really get tough. And I prefer surfing around the game world as a cute fluffy ball than some human teenagers. Too many games do that already.
Riki _seems_ like the kind of "mascot" character I'd normally find annoying, but he surprisingly turned into one of my favorites. His voice is absolutely hilarious, too.
This game may have improved graphics and some new animations but the characters still use the same basic skeletons; the Nopon in the original Xenoblade 1 had texture faces so that wasn't going to change here.
@@MariktheGunslinger The homs seem to have modeled faces though, including eyes and mouths. I do recall them having textures for faces on the Wii version, and boy didn't that age well XD
