Just bought one of these to use with Kodi and other things, as this has android and more apps than the Amazon fire stick. Great review. From UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧 Improvements needed are 1. 16GB version 2. a micro SD card slot to expand the storage. 3. More Ram (2GB) would be preferable.

well... on one side ... it's niffty to have certified device - especially with the codec license support and a mic is a plus.... .... ... on the other hand, you can get so much more powerful box for the same money , that can handle 4k as well .. if that's your thing. Also that mic is advantage as much as disadvantage to some.

Nobody's going to make a powerful Android TV box that rivals the shield, no money in it for them, and Nvidia got there first and have built up the Shield TV as an elite brand. Nobody's gonna compete with it, even if we want them to.

I have one and i wouldn't recommend it. It's okay for just streaming and you want a cheap device in the bedroom. I use it for Kodi streaming, IPTV and smartyoutube. CEC really sucks, the remote will disconnected when turning the stick off and you can only connect it when the device is turned on. So you need to unplug the power. Save your money and safe a bit longer for a Nvidia Shield (got one in the living room)

It's more versatile than many smart TV because it comes with an open-source OS, unlike many branded tv OS who does not have access to many apps. You clearly do not understand the advantages.

I have two Xiaomi products. The electric scooter and their 'roomba'. Both are surprisingly great items. The roomba especially, costed me half the original and it's way better (there are comparisons on RU-vid proving that, I'm not fanboying). PRobably the only Chinese company that doesn't make me suspicious when it comes to quality.

I went from a galaxy note 8 to a xiaomi note 8 pro (funny name coincidence lol) and I haven't missed anything, besides the spen. Amazing performance, perfect refrigeration. It NEVER gets hot.

No. If your tv don’t support 4k don’t buy mi box s and just buy the stick. but if you have a 4k tv that sucks because it is still not a smart tv even thoush it is 4k. Then buy the mi box s

For streaming like netflix, youtube, twitch, etc. this stick is more than enough. Even with 1gb ram. I've had it for a month now, & it runs well.

i bought one for my kids tv which is only 1080p anyway (dumb tv) mainly for disney+ and youtube. paid 25 USD for it and for the price its definitely worth it

@@adeebs8072 hi, it works fine if you have a good wifi connection. in our old apartment it lagged from time to time but there we had the TV quite far from the router. in the new apartment its much closer and i have not had any lag. Its not the fastest in the menus but it is by no means slow. for 25 usd i think its a good purchase

@@adeebs8072 no heating issues that im aware of. it draws very little power so its not getting particularly warm. Have not tried instagram, dont even know if its on the playstore for android tv. Ive tried netflix, disney +, spotify, youtube etc and it all works fine

About plex: for miboxS someon said, if you disable new player in advanced settings, it may work fine. If I remember correcty, miboxS already got a fix for that. Maybe the stick has a bit older software currently.

Have you considered trying to run BlissROM on Raspberry Pi 4? It's basically the ARM variant of BlissOS. It can be considered a background competitor to LineageOS, but nobody attempted to run it on a Pi yet. Any takers?

@@Oldskool4Life That's why Odroid is a thing. They build SBCs that specialise in trying to run Android on them. I myself am more curious with the various "alternate variants" of Android that have the potential for better optimisation on an low-end ARM-based device like the Pi. There's of course the new "Android Go Edition" for very low-end devices, but nobody thought of optimising one for the RPi yet. It would be interesting in the long run...

I really don't know why people are complaining about the 1080p resolution and wish it supported 4K content. You buy this for TVs without smart tv functions, but which 4K TVs aren't smart TVs today?

I have mi TV it has the same Amlogic CPU and the GPU is also the same but I have played asphalt and it runs pretty well.3D games runs smoothly without any problem

just save a little bit more and get 32" mi tv 4a. Same spec but with you know.....an lcd. it's just $120, with ethernet, 3 hdmi port, and 2 usb ports. Totally worth it for using it as a cheap general purpose monitor for your pc too.

I doesn't support 4k...but 4k tv user only affected by this option...but in mi box we can't use 4k option for hd or full hd tv...thats also support depending on tv resolution

Does this connect over BT with soundbar? I want to hook it up to a projector which only has really bad monospeaker. I can do it through HDMI audio splitter but I'd much prefer to use a device which can send sound over BT to my soundbar. Anyone tried it?

The pi3 b+ has been my personal favorite sbc, using it as a learning device to mess around on, pi-hole helped with networking skills etc

you can fix plex by going to sitting then to advanced .... go to (enable new video player ) and make it ( off )...its will work fine

I’m getting this TV stick cause I don’t need 4K at all. I’m getting it for the TV in my room which is max 1080p as well. We have a Fire TV stick for our main TV, but I honestly don’t really like it.

@@indomiepanggang4258 Depends on what TV you have, check out if it has got HD (1080p), ultra HD or even 4K. From then, look at the options. Stuff like the Xiaomi TV Stick or TV box, the Fire TV Stick or the NVIDIA Shield box

I'd like to see something tested: is it possible to use the micro USB port to plug an antenna tuner? The Mi Box allows it and works fine.

@@arjunjmenon I mean digital ones, like ATSC in North America, ISDB-T in South America and DVB-T in pretty much the rest. When plugged in compatible devices you can watch over-the-air emissions using the built-in Android TV app Live Channels.

@@dsmania ok. In india surface transmissions were phased out many years ago. Only way is a wired cable or a satellite hD dish subscription ( both really cheap ) ,under 6 USD a month. So you are able to still receive transmission with just an antenna , without any encryption or are all channels encrypted needing a settop box

hello, I have a xiaomi box 4k, but when I connect it to my 4k screen it only lets me put the 1080 resolution, how can I see the content in 4k? I have disney, hbo, netflix, paramount, etc. and I can not see anything in 4k how do I do it?

@@Brahcii soo.. yes! I've bought one today and and yes, I need an extra power socket, and one close to the TV, cause the wire is no more then 1 meter. Also I tryed to power it up from the USB port of the TV but is not working, the voltage is to low

I have the Xiaomi Mi Box TV S 4K (I settled on it because I wanted *real* Android TV, but was not willing to spend a ton for something like the Nvidia Shield), and I got it for only under $60. I really don't see the point of this Mi TV Stick; at $20 more, you can get the 4K box. Even on the 4K box there's a bit of lag when using Spotify TV, but other than that it's pretty okay. Why would one want to go any lower than "pretty okay"?

The privacy concerns I have with anything Xiaomi would be far more off putting than anything else to be honest. I don't particularly like any of these Android Devices when it comes to the lack of privacy but I would be far more worried about this. I really wish channels would investigate more stuff around this.

Some just don't particularly care for it. In my personal opinion, I just stay away from anything that's "too good to be cheap". I mean, that new OnePlus has the same amount of power and features as a Galaxy S20 for half the price. If that's not shady, than I'm the King of Siam. I know America isn't a pioneer of privacy itself, but at least "some" people have a higher standard of liberty over there instead of a nation where dogs are considered a delicacy (boiled alive even). They can have their state-sponsored Huawei's, I'll stick to checking twice for my merchandise.

@@issabeganovic8822 you don't understand smartphone industry that much although the One Plus Nord may seem too good to be true judging by the spec sheetz it's not the entire story they probably cheap out on chipmaking materials, no wireless charging, no water proofing, ufs 2.1 storage, older gen type c and at the end they lower down their profit margin, it's pretty easily done and not shady at all, Xiaomi for example has their profit margins so low on their smartphones that they rely heavily on profiting from services, and sometimes ads shown on devices, but they sell tons of their devices which make up it. I'm seeing tons of tinfoil hat people around this channel, competition moves industry forward wether it's chinese or not and if you think that some American companies are pioneers, which some of them are, their employees are chinese, korean, Indian and mostly foreign... and if you don't believe what I said, watch techtaltar, he's a brilliant tech insider

More like $39 in the Philippines. I got my A95X Air F3 4/64gb with the same price here. Mi TV is just banking on Netflix users.

Actually, if you take a look a samsung galaxy s1's cpu it eerily close spec. Its crazy how you can get this for 50 bucks.

SoC is the Amlogic S805Y. This is similar to the S905 but video output is capped at 1080p.

Hi, I have a problem that remote is not working when Mi Stick is plugged to TV with USB port. It works fine when plugged with charger. Any solution for this issue?

Side question. Noticed u have and also mentioned having prime on your mi device. I own a mi box s and prime is not available on the play store. Sideloading it gives me issues with sound delay. Any notes?

Is there a web browser on the Mi TV Stick? Let's say I want to watch a 720p movie through URL. Only RU-vid and Netflix or Amazon? I couldn't see a web browser??? Am I wrong?
