Looking good i have 96 model green in coulor no workshop but have managed to work on it outside back on road now think its a keeper even though a bit heavy ! Have my 60th coming up 2019.Keep up the great work. Eian.
EIAN PIXLEY thanks Eian 58 In Sept congrats on getting it back on the road. I've had quite a few comments on how good the xj900s is the CBR is heavy but I am on my tip toes so I'm hoping the XJ is a bit lower.
Very good video, thanks. I had blue thread lock on mine, too. Saves movement but a fight to get off. Replacing the shaft was helped by using a wire around the shaft rather than the Universal coupling, and feeding both ends up through the inspection hole in the arm. Made maneuvering a bit more accurate, in my experience, but everybody has their technique. Easy to remove, too. Good rebuild. All the best.
Come on.....hurry up and get er dun...... I'm getting exasperated with all this waiting and building crap. Other than that, it's awesome. lol Great video man. 😎👍👍👍
I went through the same frustration fitting the drive shaft. The problem is that the universal joint (UJ ) lays in such a way you cannot engage the swing arm fully or use the drive shaft to lift the UJ when trying to fit the s/a (see timeline 17:42). The way I did it was to use a pole that fitted into the universal joint and was longer than the the swing arm. I slide the swing arm on over the pole and used the pole to position the universal joint to allow me the fit the arm and install the pivot bolts. I then used a magnetic probe through the inspection hole (see timeline 12:02) to hold the UJ joint in the centre then slide in the drive shaft without the final drive housing, the drive shaft will just pull out of the final drive you don't need to remove the circlip (timeline 06:40). I have to say the swing arm rebuild was one of the most frustrating jobs I have ever done it took quite some time to figure out what the problem was and how to solve it.
Hello, I have a problem with the upperbolt of the shock absorber and both bolts of the swinging arm. They won't com off, can you help? Pictures av aiable.
@@jonyr1TT can you remember what grease you used as I'm currently rebuilding the rear end on mine and Im not sure if you're supposed to use moly or white grease 😕
