Well done for Martyn, his new Deus II has been broken in quite well. For you it was a shite day. That's what it's like when we're metal detecting. I'm glad you were finally able to get out on a field.

1861 is the second year of the recoinage, when the Pennies were made slightly smaller. By the look of the 1861 that Martin found, it was dropped when it was fairly new.

At least you two were able to get out. Using your gps coordinates to mark future finds is an idea. Now you have an artists brush for your archeological finds.😂 I hope Martin likes his new detector, I just ordered a new Deus II myself. But I’ll hang onto my Equinox 900 to add to my detector collection.

Just to give you a smile. When I collected pennies as a kid in the 50s there were quite a few Victoria coins to be found. All the kids that I knew called them Honolulu pennies because unlike all modern coins at that time the trident that Britainia was holding was not on her knee, it was "On her Lulu" Stupid childish joke that brings back happy memories.

Cold frozen ground is no fun and another day with no water here in Lynnville, Tennessee, at least we finally see snow disappeared! It seems like only yesterday we got a bath in a big washtub,or a water fight shower from the rainbarrel! The good Ole days,to be 12 again having the mule plowing me thru the dirt and rocks,chopping weeds out of grannies garden til noon then off to the bluffhole to swim,lol! Maybe I should just watch another of John's excellent history finds! Thanks for the adventures!

Nice video again John, thanks! So Marty’s machine has 2.0 software installed on it? I don’t really understand that because I don’t see a version 2.0 on XP’s website? Do you (or does anyone) know when it will be released for people that have the XP DEUS II with the old version on it?
@thescottishdetectorist
@thescottishdetectorist 7 месяцев назад
Hello DD. Yes Martyn’s machine just purchased came with the 2.0 installed. The 2.0 is actually the same as 1.1 as far as I’m aware except there is a change to the goldfield programme and to allow you to use the xtreme hoard hunter, otherwise it’s exactly the same as 1.1 as far as I’m aware, so if you’ve got 1.1 you’ll be fine. I’m actually using 0.71 but may upgrade soon. Hope that helps?

The key could be used as a bleed key on Farm equipment or used to wind up a clock The threaded hook is used in electrical installations to hang lights via chains in building with high ceilings.

That key looks like one used for winding my parent's old hanging clock with a pendulum about 100+ years old. It uses the exact same square shaped hole that fits over the strong metal winders in the face of the clock dial (one winds the clock and the other winds the bell). Surely it has some use for someone.

using the tones and numbers as id is all good. but i dont see you use the drag off target method ? i get the best info about whats in the ground by swinging over the target and pinpointing the target , then while doing short swings i drag the coil off the target , and you more or less always get a very good id just before the signal runs of the coil .

We ate fried blackbirds for dinner as people in the farming fields around where we live ate them at the dinner table a platter of fried blackbirds, quails were better or duck of course wanted. Two sparrows to eat? Not knowing. Sorry you did explain afterwards on the 1861. Sparrows were in bunches or in bushes shrubs and shoot into them a bite to eat if hungry
