I am an artist, and I find them very useful, as he tests a lot of tablets, laptops, monitors and other art related hardware. He goes over all the practical aspects for this, through a very well ordered video content :) . Also, I believe his reviews do touch as well aspects that are good to know for non artists as well. Like ease of use, weight, general specs, etc :)

@@lonlinessman6621 yes an i3 with 16 GB would do. Just don't use Photoshop (unless you plan on getting a job i n the graphic industry; then you need Photoshop), as it requires a powerful laptop.

One tip for the rubber getting sticky is to use alcohol wipes, you can buy the small square alcohol wipes also used for sanitizing injury at the pharmacy

You can change the pressure sensitivity through the app(drawing app like ibis paint) that you are using. And only the pen button works on Android(If the app supports it) not the tablet buttons.

I need to know one thing and it's important. is the matte texture from the actual material of the board or just a coating material? I bought a deco mini7 few years ago and the the drawing surface turned out to be just a matte coating that peels off after only couple months of usage.
@teohontech7141
@teohontech7141 2 года назад
That I'm not sure. Sometimes they have the coating applied so nicely that it looks like it's the plastic surface itself.

Hey Teoh, do you recommend a tablet like this over a tablet with a screen for artists? It would be interesting to have your take on this.
@3polygons
@3polygons 2 года назад
It is not needed if you already got eye-hand-screen coordination while drawing on a classic tablet, also called pen-tablet (takes its long training, though. It took it for me, but some people adapt very fast, much faster). That is, if you are already _almost_ (imo, "equally" is not possible, not yet) as comfortable drawing with a classic tablet, a pen-tablet, than on regular paper (I'm in this situation, and while even having a display-tablet, I don't use it. But I trained this coordination for many years). Regular classic tablets have huge advantages: price .... a 70 bucks tablet (always Medium size, never Small size (S) like the smallest Wacom's tablet, otherwise is like throwing the money to the trash) already allows anyone making great and wonderful art, while cintiqs cost 2.000 and + bucks, and the competitors, at 22" and above, it's no less than 400 bucks, up to 1k or more), better posture is possible (less cases of back and neck ache, which in some cases becomes severe), if it breaks it is easier to replace (easier to find, and order, and _way_ cheaper, from 70 to 2k, how many times more expensive is that...), so it's more sustainable as an expense of the activity, and much faster to replace (classic pen-tablets are more likely to be in nearby shops. Let alone the disaster that it is (it has been, indeed) when there's electronics shortage problems. Then, the common product has stock, the rare (display tablets), not at all)). With classic tablets you can rely on high end monitors that usually are of much higher quality than most non-crazily priced display-tablet monitors. And having both devices separated (tablet and monitor) you have a ton more flexibility if needed an upgrade of one of the two matters.... You can also do so with display-tablets by not looking at the tablet's screen, and using it as a classic tablet. But what would be the point on buying a much more expensive thing for the same functionality? A Cintiq Pro's monitor is very good (97% Adobe RGB color gammut support, etc), but comes at a cost, of 2k -2.5k USD or euros (the 24 inches model, if I remember well), or more (much more if you use their 500 bucks stand.... sigh. You can also just get an Ergotrom arm, which is cheaper) if you want something not as tiny for painting as it is 16 inches Cintiqs' screens. The Cintiq cheap range (non pro) has screens that only support sRGB color gammut. And Eizo ColorEdge (professional monitors) monitors have been tested to be better in color accuracy and other screen related matters for professional work than the Cinitiq Pro 32" 's screen. There's that. Lol. There has been always built a lot of hype around display tablets. To me, they are great and very fast for most people's workflow, but it has its cons. Beyond what I said, if it is not a Cintiq... you might not notice, but I have purchased cintiqs and alternatives, and even a wacom classic tablet from 2009 gives me better control and less lag than what I tested in a display-tablet of a non wacom alternative. My take is that if you are already used to pen-tablets, you don't have that much to win with a display-tablet. And those are yet a tad more expensive.
@teohontech7141

Which to get really comes down to personal preference. Below are some pros and cons. Nowadays pen display drawing performance are really good, but pen tablets actually have slightly better drawing performance but only noticeable with side by side comparison. Pen tablets are significantly cheaper. They don't take up much space on the table and can be stored away easily. It's more ergonomic to use pen tablets because you can sit straight whereas for pen displays you have to hunch over slightly. It is certainly more intuitive to work on a pen display as the lines appear directly beneath the pen. Drawing with pen tablets by looking at monitors just takes some time to get used to. It's not difficult. I say that because if you can use your mouse to click precisely at where you want, you can also control the pen to be precisely where it should be. If I were to buy something for drawing today, I would probably go with pen displays because nowadays pen displays are so thin you can store them away easily too. I can't say that for the older bulky pen displays and those with attached stands. I don't have much table space so I need to store things away when not using them.

I have never used any tablet in my life. One month ago, a friend of mine gave me his old tablet. I tried it and got used with it for several hours of use and in 1 day it felt super natural to me, even thought the tablet is 12 y old Wacom Bamboo model with 1024 pen sens... Too bad you didn't do any testing in Resolve.. Are the buttons auto-repeat, i.e. if you hold them will they keep performing an action until you release them? I'd like to map them to zoom and rotate canvas, but I'd like to be able to do that fast by holding a button, not like tapping a Morse code.

I think I'd go with the Lw. I believe it is much more modern (and it's better to go for recent tech in the matter of drawing tablets) Those line tests did look great.. And I believe the Lw version is equivalent in active drawing area to Wacom Medium's. Indeed, it's a bit bigger (slightly) in the Deco Lw. And I recommend at least Wacom's Medium size for drawing (even if small sizes are ok for some illustration styles).
