Thanks for the video Wycliffe. Trying this now. What about scenery order, for the Simheaven stuff? Is there any impact? Does this autoortho have an entry in the scenery list?
I thought I had failed totally with it but after a little fiddling I did get it to run and load. It did take XP12 a long time to load it, but no big deal. I started from KSNA (Orange Co., California) and it looked great! Except, the terminal didn't load. Huh? Now, what could I have done wrong to cause that? The jetways are sitting there alone with other planes parked and the ground equipment moving about. I will see when I arrive in KABQ (Albuquerque, New Mexico) if there's a terminal there, ha.
Great video! thanks for the help setting up! For some reason the satellite images for me are at a lower resolution (in the same place aswell) did you do any tweaking to the minimum zoom level by any chance?
Can we delete all of the ortho tiles that we have loaded previously --- does this completely replace all of the previous ortho tiles in other words ? must admit it does look really good and this might bring me back to x plane !
Just tried North America for now. Works great although increased loading time. Which in your opinion is the best choice of map? I tried bing but looked a bit washed out.
Wycliffe I tried that so I could change use with 11 and 12 by changing the config but it ended up screwing the XP12 original install so I’d be a bit nervous 😮
I have no idea why anybody would use this instead of Ortho4XP, other than hard drive capacity - Autoortho results in stutters on approach, and because you are redownloading the data each time you will eventually be blacklisted by the scenery providers (like Arc). Hard drives are cheap. While it's nice to see the XP community attempt to solve XP's often bad graphics, this isn't the answer IMO - Ortho4XP was. People are just too lazy to spend a few minutes learning how to use it or too cheap to spend $200 on a dedicated orthoscenery hard drive.
@@kristoferkristensen9021 I think it's a terrible piece of software that does more harm than good, why wouldn't I try to make others aware of the invariable drawbacks, especially when this is the 'new thing' that every new user will try thinking it's going to solve all their problems. But hey - thanks for your constructive comment man, keep at it :)
@@Avazhi You couldn't have picked a more esoteric and niche thing to have grievances over. The X-plane user base is small, the auto ortho user base even smaller and you can reduce the numbers even further as a lot of peeps don't even make it past the github download :D. As for "getting blacklisted" , this is where you really go full doomsday. You might as well stand on a street corner and sell pencils from a paper cup.
Somehow you dont seem to realise that Ortho4xp is the same imagery data that Autoortho uses. Autoortho just uses a different solution for injecting the imagery into the sim. Also just in case you really are stupid MSFS uses Bing sat imagery. I'm not normally rude to trolls, but please just shut up with your nonscence.
Too bad using this software makes you violate the user license of pretty much any satellite image provider you download from. Same with Ortho4XP. Automated downloads are not allowed.
Hi Peter, I have just looked at the product Specific terms of use, on page 2 of 5 it clearly states in the footnotes Foot Notes 1 May not be used to edit an enterprise geodatabase via Direct Connect 2 Not for use in navigation 3Licensed for personal, non commercial use only. It states further page 3 of 5 section 27 May not be used to generate revenue by providing services to third parties. Xplane users are 3rd parties under this definition and we have access to the programme and the imagery free of charge. I hope this allays any fears you might have of invalidating the end user license.
@@wycliffeb The imagery is available for use, but you may not use download automation. For instance, the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service, 3.2.3 Restrictions Against Misusing The Services. (a) No Scraping. Customer will not export, extract, or otherwise scrape Google Maps Content for use outside the Services. For example, Customer will not: (i) pre-fetch, index, store, reshare, or rehost Google Maps Content outside the services; And this is exactly what this software as well as Ortho4XP does.
