An interesting comparison. I would like to hear both playing through the same external loudspeaker, because I believe few hams use the internal speaker. Also, with one radio atop the other, one has an unobstructed path from the internal speaker, the other doesn't.
I agree next time I will use similiar external speakers for both transceivers. BTW today I made a video comparing ICOM IC-775DSP with Kenwood TS-950SDX kindly have a look and let me know your thoughts on improvement. The Yaesu has a receiver sensitivity of 0.2 uV at 20M. The Kenwood 0.12uV (I think thats on the 6mil serial numbers and later). The 940 is a fantastic radio. I'd like something newer but I don't want to downgrade.
I totally agree there is no need to downgrade nowadays rigs high-quality use SDR technology which is very different than superheterodyne analog systems. Thanks for the comment and watching 73s from The Hague, Netherlands
Comparing the S-meters is not a secure way to compare the receivers, because only if you calibrate the S-meters you can be sure that -73dbm from a generator is S9 on both, -63 is S9+10 and so on.
Thanks that is absolultly right but with the addition to the audio coming out of the speaker at relatively same volume and referencing with signal strenght meter will give some idea to the viewer about the performamnce differernce. But you are absolutly right. Thanks for supporting the channel

The FT2000 audio sounds a little muddy on SSB in comparison. Menu 92 set to 10 can improve this, as will an NS Filter. Also to some extent the external speaker will affect the audio. de Wb8yqj Don

I agree technology is changing rapidly and similiarly FTDDX3000 can not compete with FTDX-101D or IC-7610 with SDR technology. This generation is lucky to see the shifting technology with our hobby. The Tube Type radios from 60s & 70s are still operations and few highly sought after such as Collins & Drakes and then the era of Hrbrids TS-820 & TS-830 and FT-101 and so on. It is amazing and they all have something which still inspires most of us in the hobby. Thanks Don for watching & supporting the channel. Best 73s
