I love that this is at it’s core the koi challenging the dragon to become one himself like in the first yakuza but this time the koi makes it through the gate
The dragons through out the series (in the series chronological order): Keiji Shibusawa: The Ao Dragon of Dojima. Kiryu Kazuma: The Dragon of Dojima and Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan Ryuji Goda: The Golden Dragon of Kansai Omi Yosuke Tendo: The new Dragon of the Omi Alliance vs and finally Ichiban Kusaga: The Koi becoming a dragon.
Man I love the symbolism this fight has. 1st one is Tendo's blue dragon tattoo is a homage to the 1st dragon quest game, were the final boss is a blue dragon, and is Ichiban's favorite game. 2nd one is the coi mythology story. In order for the coi to become a dragon, they must first get past the gate guarded by the dragon. Ichiban's tattoo is a great personification of that. A coi on the verge of becoming a full dragon. His fight with Tendo is his final test to becoming a true dragon. God I love this series!
in Japanese mythology, and in mafia superstition itself, the dragon is the top of the food chain, tattoos rival each other as a superstition... The tiger doesn't get along with the dragon just as the koi is the closest to surpassing the dragon with its effort
You make it sound like that's a lot. Just 4? I hit him with it (counted, yes) over 15 times. And even then, Zhao, Adachi, Joon Gi-Han, and Idol Eri had to deal so much damage too.
Yeah, Tendo is a long-distance race. You should focus on not getting killed while constantly pressuring him, instead of trying to take him down as fast as possible, since he'll shrug off anything you throw at him.
Wanna know how good this game was? I beat this tower, this boss and was watching the ending, my game crashed just as the surprise kicked in and I found out there was no saves at all in the tower (I believe the autosave only works in fights themselves here) I did the fucking tower and this fight again, hours of ascending and fighting tooth and claw, and I wouldn't of undone it. 10/10 Game
I was in the first fight with Aoki and someone came in for their charger which me and my mom borrowed and accidentally pulled out the Xbox and quick resume didn't work soooo yeah gotta do it all again since this happened just now
@@deathlance123 i feel so sorry for everyone who actually died to it. I thought it was completely unable to one shot ichiban, it did kill other party members in one hit
@@mydadspulloutgametrash no a fight like with Masato but it’s actually challenging instead of being easy because of story reasons, I understand why they did it because it was tied closely to Ichi and his life so it’s more climactic also the “real final challenge” was Tendo.
i thought i was "prepared" for this battle. LOL NOPE. he just smacked my ass so hard, it took me 45min to win this fight against him.i was streaming it on discord for a friend when he said "gz on beating him, took you 45min" i was so confused because it didnt feel this long, i think part of that was because i loved his OST so much. haha. ♥♥♥
@RU-vid User. If I remember the fight right the biggest issue in it is his 1 hit KO move that he always seems to target Ichiban with, so having the item that prevents 1 shots stops the fight from just suddenly ending.
@@Spootnik yeah. He got me with that my first attempt. I basically got lucky on my second attempt that Ichi wasn’t targetted with it a lot, and when he did, I had Hyper Swagger on so Ichi dodged.
I spent a long time grinding in the Kamurocho Underground, and ended up beating him first try. The fight itself was relatively easy, but it was long because he has a shit ton of HP.
Well Ichiban is also kinda a healing option because he can learn a move that heals everyone to full health. NOT HERO'S COMPASSION IT DOESN'T HEAL Fully. Also he has to be hero class I think for it to be learnt.
Also you can use peerless resolve on ichiban hero and adachi detective has true grit which does the same thing as peerless resolve. It let's you survive a hit that would kill you
Random NPC says to Tendo : you should have a weapons permit just for your fists’ Me: ‘Why just for his fists’ Me during Tendo’s boss fight: ‘That NPC wasn’t kidding’
I think Kiryu and Tendo would be equal, due to the fact that they've both developed different kinds of abilities and skills based on their fighting record and experiences.
Not to talk smack about the turn based combat but I really want to fight Tendo og style. Especially as Kiryu. Dragon against Dragon. He already brought down the one soaring towards the earth and the one from the far east. Facing the one in the sky is just a given.
Late but there is a mod for like a dragon that turns the entire game into a beat them up and it's look amazing it's still in development but from the creator he said that it will be available this year check out his channel Jhrino
Just going through first playthrough, Tendo and Kiryu were kinda easy imho but only because I was super well prepared i guess. I went in relatively blind, but Majima and Saejima were by far the most cripplingly huge difficulty spike. Possibly in any game I've played since I thought the sotenbori battle arena was optional. I guess they kinda gave me PTSD and forced me to prepare better for the bosses after them. Still, ig it says a lot that Ishioda was basically nothing while Kiryu and Tendo still took time despite prep.
@@maxjohnson65 Majima/Saejima duo was easy for me, but I had seen comments that they were difficult and I saw a gameplay playing against them which made me prepare well before i got the chance to play the game, otherwise I would probably go with a much lower level and it could be very difficult, I decided to do a lot of other things including the arena first. Actually, I didn't find the Tendo fight to be so difficult, but the fight was very long, even with a much higher level than when I faced Majima and Saejima and it was the only boss that killed me once, he took me by surprise with that blow that can kill you with a punch, after that as a precaution i started to use that skill of Kasuga that makes him resist a killing blow and things went smooth. I didn't get a chance to play on legend difficulty though, it should be much harder.
I went in well prepared for this fight, I'd still say Kiryu was harder than Tendo but i actually lost to Tendo once, even after grinding to level 67, all because of God's Right Hand (i think was the name), didn't expect it and i could've avoided it with a peerless resolve, but i was too over confident i guess
@@dinoblade8167 I hate to say it but yeah- When that one part of "With Vengeance" kicked in I assume the fight was easy on purpose- but sadly no- it was just easy-
I mean Kiryu trounced a boxer of that legendary caliber multiple times and also made a guy who punched a bigger hole on a stronger surface than glass (unless it was some special missile proof glass) shit himself though he was presumably holding an advantage, and all of this when Kiryu was like 21 and dabbing to disco..
kiryus poundmate has the same gimmick as tendo of being able to instant kill people with a punch, so at his absolute weakest Kiryus on par with Tendos strength while being more flexible in fighting style
This guy is the literal TANK class from rpgs and hits like a TRUCK, sending Ichiban flying with a punch, one-shooting party members, what a menace. He kinda remind me of MGRR Senator Armstrong, the og tank lol.
Idk why but I wanna see a fight between Tendo and Ryuji, the two dragon of the Omi. I know kiryu would wipe the floor with tendo so wouldn’t even be that fun
admittedly that balancing does not make sense. Because if Tendo could push Ryuji to the limit then he could potentially do that to Kiryu, because Kiryu barely won his fight against Ryuji at the end of K2.
I went in too underprepped, Level 55 Kasuga, with barely any first aids or Staminans, try whittling him down to 1 hit left to kill him, and then dying to Gods Right hand because you didnt have enough MP to use Peerless Resolve for the 5th time... 50 mins down the toilet
I have a funny one too. I got into this mess of a fight with level 55 as well. But I leveled up the B-Boy class with Ichiban through all the game, basically no Peerless Resolve. I got blasted by God's Right Hand a total of 4 times being so close to beat him. I probably wasted 2 or more hours in it. Later I discovered that you needed Peerless Resolve to not instantly die with that move. So I trained the Hero class for about 3 hours in Kamurocho's sewer. Then after being level 60 and getting the Peerless Resolve move I did this fight again. For my surprise the the first God's Right Hand he throw at me only dealed 5 damage while having Peerless Resolve prepared. The second and last God's Right Hand got dodged by Ichiban. So I wasted 3 hours leveling just to resist a bullshit attack it didn't even landed on me. FFS
1:44 watching Tendo put a hole in what is likely a concrete floor, even with knuckle dusters is a true show of how powerful those muscles are. Not just for show.
I didn’t use Ichi all fight i only had him guarding & reviving Saeko while spamming Saeko’s healing abilities, Eri’s ice attacks and Adachi essence of electromagnetic storm
Some people have muscles. These muscles have a Tendo attached to it. Dudes like a sentient brickhouse compressed into a human being. Perfect "final" boss for ichibans first journey imo.
The only thing they messed up here was the Devil's Hand. As far as I remember, it's a weak attack with no drawbacks for us. The way I'd have done: keep God's Hand as it is and make Devil's Hand cause half of the previous attack's damage but with 90-100% chance to cause Stun or Fear
You'd be surprised how strong Devil's Left Wing can be even with Blunt resistance. Though imo, it should have also had an additional effect like God's Right Hand
This fight is totally RNG based and you only thought it was easy because the gods favoured you. He can one shot ichiban at any point and you can't do anything about it. His attack ignores defence and he can do it several turns in a row. So you can be level 99 with all the buffs and the anti-insta-death buff on and it won't matter.
*SPOILER WARNING* If i'm not mistaken this isn't even the real tendo it's mirror face unless i got it all confused and it is real tendo but i'd highly doubt it as the real one appears afterwards and drags this one from behind the desk all beaten up and bruised 🤔
Spoiler Warning It is the real Tendo. Mirror Face was the "Tendo" that Aoki was talking to when he came to the office after the fight - the real Tendo had been knocked out by the party. Mirror Face helped the party out with their plan to exact revenge on Aoki for trying to get him killed after using him to do his dirty work. This is why the mirror face/false Tendo references being used and thrown away. The twist is a little clearer in the English VO than in the Japanese VO w/ English Subs
@@jayj.7621 Ahh i see but i find it abit odd that this known assassin who first was an Adachi double who tried to beat ichiban once, suddenly as Tendo decides to side with ichiban toward the end 🤔 oh well at least it's still good regardless
@@jayj.7621 JP VO with eng subs is still perfectly clear unless you forgot about Mirror Face from the previous boss fight against "Adachi" and Ishioda.
