I came back 11 days before my decision comes back!!! And got so excited with you again haha. I think I get increasingly emotional when the big day comes close. I’m trying to prepare myself for the decision whether is good or bad, but still I wanna be as happy as you! :) thank you again for uploading this vid, at least I got to experience that excitement with you.
Skye Aww, this is such a wholesome comment!!! :) I'm glad you were able to experience that feeling with me; I hope you'll be able to get all that you've worked and wished for!
Knowing that we come from The same city, graduated from The same high school through it all, you made it. This video made me a little teary eye. #HesAble
Ayy, congratulations! THAT'S AMAZING! Can't wait to see you on campus! If you have any questions or if 'ya wanna link up, lemme know! Big accomplishment!
Of course! I feel so bad because right when I find time to record, something unexpected pops up. I'm gonna try to find the time to record! And thank you!!!
That's the spirit! :D You recognizing this is a very mature and awesome thing to do! I have no doubts that you will end up at a college that is meant to be for you!
@@ArnoldSetiadi I have a question: did you apply to Yale through EA to show them they're your only top choice, or did you have other reasons? I'm going through the QB process right now and would love your insights:)
I applied SCEA to Yale because I personally liked my Common App better than my QB App. My Common App was more simple, straight to the point, but also had everything that I wanted in an application. Along with showing Yale that they were pretty much my top and only choice, I thought that a "low-income first generation" student applying with the Common App would stand out more compared to a "low-income first generation" student applying with an application that is designated for such a demographic. Take it as you will; the admissions officers at Yale claim that it "doesn't matter HOW you apply," but I recommend that you apply with the application that best conveys you and your story! Also, if Yale IS absolutely your #1 choice, then I recommend applying SCEA because you don't wanna get forced to attend a college if you hypothetically not get matched to Yale, but instead matched to a college you ranked below Yale.
Hey, how's it going?? I was a QuestBridge National College Match Finalist. Afterwards, I decided to opt out of the Match, and instead applied SCEA to Yale with my Common App; I just put the "QB Finalist" award under the Awards Sections of the Common App. I'm planning on making some videos regarding QB (hopefully soon, but college is pretty busy, haha); in the meantime, feel free to ask more questions! Thanks for the support!
Any specific reasons why? or was it just that the Match was too selective(ik only 918 ppl got matched last year). I was a Prep Scholar so my chances going into the Finalist selection are pretty good, but the Match is still very selective so I'm unsure of what to do. Was there any extra recommendations for teachers that you needed for SCEA(aside from QB). thanks, Yale has been my number 1 for long time so its great to see someone be sucessful!
Well, I applied through SCEA because I personally just liked the Common App better and I thought I would be able to stand out more in a pile of applicants who aren't generally "QB kids." Turns out, it doesn't really matter and it's all kind of the same (I do have my suspicions though). When applying for SCEA through the Common App, I only had to submit two teacher recommendations and my guidance counselor one. I will probably elaborate further in a future video to get all of the nitty gritty details!!! :)
Does not having straight A's remove all my chances to get into Yale?I mean ive worked really hard this year and got 3A* for my a levels but my past results were not very good...
Happy Kiwi,I had 4 subjects and got 2A*2A and am pretty worried with the As because as an international student, you need to be academically really really strong.
@@razanayaz5376 What is your sat score? I read that colleges look at SAT scores are a more universal approach to compare students...Your results are very good!
Kiwi, will sit for the test in September. I find it pretty luck dependant (sometimes scoring very high while the other times, silly mistakes cost me). You're right and in my case, considering my race, 1530 should be a 'great' score.
Hey man I submitted my Questbridge app a couple nights ago but am still debating btwn ED through QB and ED through CommonApp. Assuming I decide to go with CommonApp, do you know if I can still become a Finalist if I DON'T submit any rankings or upload the Match Agreement Form? Or do I have to submit everything to become a Finalist, and then opt out of the Match once that decision comes out (can I even do this)? Thanks bruv
Personally, I applied and received the QuestBridge National College Match Finalist Award. Afterwards, I applied SCEA to Yale with my CommonApp, and just listed the Finalist Awards under the Awards Section.
someone tell me how chances are of getting into yale if you’re national merit, 32 act, (retaking in december) 1420 sat, 4.5 weighted gpa, first chair in a high achieving band, an active nhs, international, and interact member, and participating in a lot of volunteer work
You're obviously very qualified and accomplished enough to be accepted into an Ivy League or Top School; Yale would be lucky to have you! Just remember that the admissions process can be "random" at times. You never know who they are looking to admit at any given time. As long as you convey your story and situation well, and give them a compelling and clear reason(s) why to admit you, then that should help a lot. No stress. :D For instance, are you doing all of these extracurriculars to just "look good" or "pad" your application? Or are you genuinely involved and passionate about them, and have substantial evidence that you love these extracurriculars? And your grades are certainly awesome, but how are they relative to your school? Everything needs context.
Thank you very much! A lot of passion definitely goes into the volunteer work as it’s mainly educating troubled children and the plan is to be a physics professor. This work was done during the summer and I didn’t realize I wanted to attend Yale until the end of summer. A lot of work was and is still being put into making sure the passion can be seen through the essays.
@@ArnoldSetiadiWow that's cool, I noticed it from your name "Setiadi", which is kinda familiar in Indonesia. Oh yeah I'm kinda curious, what major are you taking at Yale?
