Thanks for the review. I have just bought one of these pre/pros. My amp is a 7 channel Sherwood Newcastle 100w RMS all channels driven. Can't wait hook it up and be blown away with the upgrade.

Do you actually understand almost all audio recordings are for two channel. my primary interest is and always will be listening to stereo music not watching movies that is completely secondary hence the 5.1 set up for video and my interest in two channel stereo.I’m not some witless video moron as you seem to be.

I’ve been eyeing these Yamaha units for a while now. Currently have a Marantz but I’m looking to upgrade anyway. Btw, Your System sounds amazing even over YT. What speakers do you have?
Hey, Thank you for that, i use Goldenear ( it sounds much better in real life ). In terms of Yamaha and Marantz etc. i feel you wont get a huge sound quality difference unless you go to the higher end units such as Anthem, Nad , Arcam etc. so if you want an upgrade, Highly recommend thous units.
@@TechinaSec101 YW. and thanks. I’ve had very hi end anthem before and may go with the AM70. I only bought that Marantz because I wanted Dolby Atmos and it was a decent price.
@@pf5658 I have only heard great things about the AM70 ( personally iam getting one next month ), The channel separation is close to non from the detailed review i have done. If you do end up with the AM70 please let me know your thoughts. :)
@@TechinaSec101 Awesome! I’m actually in the early stages of building my very first dedicated home theater. Just bought my first home earlier this year. I will and I hope you do get it. Heard complaints about some software issues but I’m pretty sure Anthem will soon have a fix if they haven’t already. Good luck.
@@pf5658 Congrats, Where are you located ? Correct Anthem had alot of bugs but they do release weekly updates to fix them all. It is currently one of the best units to buy and will only get better with bug fixes. Happy to help you in anything you need.
Thanks for your Questions, A Pre-amp doesn't have any power channels included ( meaning you need to add a power amp ) some say splitting the two will improve the sound quality. Personally with Yamaha if you are comparing the CX line with either their top of the line receiver, they both should be similar. Also what set-up do you have ?
@@TechinaSec101 My system is older. I don’t have 4K yet but I don’t want use cheaper components. I have a Yamaha RX-V1900. Velodyne optimum 10” subwoofer. Polk Audio 5.1 configuration with their Lsi7 bookshelf for surround, Lsi 15 towers, Lsi center. The speakers are blue in color. I’d like your opinion on what to move to 4K with? I’ll never use 11 channels. But to get more watts per channel I would have to buy it. Also thinking about trying a SVS sub later.
Your analysis of this processor is wrong - I own it and the matching power amp. I Have a correctly configured 7.2.4 set up and play 4k Dolby atmos dvds and these work very well. As do DHS and dvd-a music. It does not have aura-3d or 8k but then there is so little content in these forms
Hi, Thank you for your feedback. What was wrong about my analysis ? Also comparing it with the AV receiver 3080. I didnt feel much of a difference to justify the price increase. If you go with a pre-amp from Anthem or Monolith, thats something else.
Even in this latest model they are still only using 4.2 Bluetooth. And for such a premium product, it totally sux balls and a real let down. Audio seriously lags by a 0.5 second from the main units wired output to playing the same song on bt outside speakers. These should be bluetooth 5 at minimum for duel connectivity, no lag, longer distance and for the thousands you spend on this unit, its b.s. In the least, Yamaha should design the processor to be able to control b/t with a + or - delay. Also their needs to be a usb at the back, not just the front. I dont want a cable I can see hanging out the front when I connect a permanent HDD. App is ok, but has poor search indexing when using a server or HDD because it wont show your folders, just songs.
@@TechinaSec101 yeah, dont know much about that brand. I also got the MXA5000 in a combo deal at a real good price so its ok. Going to hardwire everything in my house anyway inc the pool speakers, but yeah the bluetooth and front only usb was a real letdown considering how much I paid. I mean I have a b/t 5 70w amp I brought for 100th the price thats a few years old.. I ended up soldering up my own ribbon cable with amale usb to run from the front female usb so I can run the HDD out the back without seeing the cable, but it was a pia, because of stuff all clearance between the usb and where the flap closes. I originally wanted to just split the usb internally but after a look inside, I thought better to wait to the warranty is over before modifying.
@@turboturd7954 Ya i understand, Its crazy how small things like this effects the operation of the unit, Also i would have gone to the Emotiva, cheaper and better them the MXA5000 but If you are happy then thats what matters :D
@@TechinaSec101 I was surprised at the bench test results for the MXA5000. I wouldn't buy one. I second your opinion. . I paired a CX-A5200 with Emotiva XPA-7 and XPA-5 amplifiers. It's amazing and for the price can't be touched.
