have had both, would definitely reccomend the 1kr if you have the scratch. s1k is just buckets smoother. only complaint I have about the Beemer is if you have lazy body position above 100 it can get a little shakey. both great bikes.

Have the MT-10 I have been looking at reviews around these two bikes. I found the MT-10 much better down low after a ECU Flash and can. I gained 10 h/p in between 4500rpm and 7500rpm. About the same in torque by doing the Woolich race tune. B mode is very sensitive on them. I enjoyed so thanks.

+1 I got my ECU flashed at 2wheeldynoworks (highly recommended) and the power is instant down low. Also smooth out the snappiness in B which was great to see. Now I ride in B mode and traction control 1 all the time

Hi CNcycle, thanks for going to so much effort producing this vid. Well done. I noticed you were working hard on the twisties as your breathing increased on the MT10. Can I offer a small gentle idea. When you go through the corners I did notice you tend to sway left and right after the apex to get back to the centre of the lane. Can I suggest moving your body across the seat and kissing the inside mirror more as you use the outside of the lane on the approach and exit while hugging the corner at the apex? It gives you much more rhythm and irons out the corners considerably. Starting wide helps you see thru the corner for longer and then apex late with a good lean in, then leave the corner wide again but don’t bring your weight back if the corner turns in the same direction as the last corner. Stay with your body weight out. It will make it much smoother and easier. If the road at the furthest most visible part is lifting it’s generally opening out and you can accelerate but if it’s visually dropping into the terrain it is a closing corner and you’ll need to trail break a little to gently wash speed off for the tightening corner. Sorry to tell you how to suck eggs dear bud but it may help a little. Good luck and loved your vid. Thanks.

My first bike staring out was a 2003 FZ1. I went through a street triple and a klx400. Now I have a 2018 S1000r. It's a great bike but I would probably like an MT-10 as well.

I love my FZ10. No regrets. I never see another bike that makes me wonder if I made the wrong choice. Edit: And I'm not too sure why he felt the throttle was snatchy. This is the first bike I've ever owned, and as a new rider I found it very tractable. I kept it in standard for the first 3k miles, at which point it just felt squishy. A is perfect for me. B is snatchy, and I imagine designed for the track. Makes no sense on the road. B mode = instantly speeding.

Always was wondering what the FZ-10 would be like. Oh, and I like your non professional, every day, average rider reviews :) I feel like these types of reviews are more helpful to the people that just want to hear how the bike is to ride, not just listing all the specs. We can read those online or at the dealer.

The cross-plane or cross-plane is a crankshaft design for piston engines with a 90° angle (phase in crank rotation) between the crank throws. The cross-plane crankshaft is the most popular configuration used in V8 road cars.

Nice vid, how is the seat height to pegs feel, are you cramped? I got a chance to demo ride the bmw s1000r a couple of weeks ago, I think it is a phenomenal bike, torque on any gear at any speed :) felt light to handle, and turn. Even great on the highway highway
@CNCycle
@CNCycle 6 лет назад
The seating position on the Yamaha is definitely more relaxed with a greater seat to peg distance. Of the super nakeds I believe the S1KR has the most aggressive positioning. It's ironic because the RR has the most relaxed of the super sport bikes. A taller rider (which I am) could feel cramped on the BMW.

So did you get it out on a straighter road and open it up? How is the transmission and the vibrations? Was it fun to ride?

I did. The BMW is definitely quicker. For transmission, the BMW probably is also smoother and easier. For fun factor, its probably a tie.

Awesome roads! And all those numbers mean very little compared to how a bike feels so great real world stuff! Shame about the snatchy throttling. I'm with you on the naked bike thing mate. Love a me nice 'ugly' bike! Might be worth a comparo with my 11yr old FZ1 to see how much, if anything, they've improved.

Hello thank you for the amazing video! Defianitly subscribed. So I have a question I am 26 years old and just finished saving money for the past 4 years to buy the 2018 yamaha MT 10. My question is I have never ridden a bike and will attend a motorcycle riding class in a few weeks then on buying the MT10 by the beginning of June so my question is do you think it would be a first bike for a first time rider? Thank you and thanks again for the video!
@CNCycle
@CNCycle 6 лет назад
Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. I hope you enjoy. As I mention in the video, I'm by no means an expert rider or reviewer so keep that in mind. If you've never ridden before, I'd probably recommend going smaller. An MT-07 would be a good start. You can get a used one for very cheap and it's still loads of fun. Your chances of crashing or dropping the bike in the first year are very high (not to mention insurance rates), so you might as well put that on a smaller, cheaper bike. Ride that for a year or two and then trade up to the MT-10
@jesustrujillo85
@jesustrujillo85 6 лет назад
CNCycle damn you just broke my heart that is my dream bike and I dont want to have to buy a 300 or 600 then put it up for sale and then invest in a MT10 but again I have no riding experience so I cant really say anything. I dont want to get it for race or track days It has just been a dream bike and it's unfortunate it's a 1000 but I will take your word Sir thank you keep up the great videos!
@richardhoskins1745
@richardhoskins1745 4 года назад
Please start on a smaller bike, I have the MT-10 as it was my dream bike but I started on a 125cc on our farm when I was growing up, I didn’t ride on the road but 20 years later I bought my first road bike which was a KLR650 enduro with semi-road tyres. I dropped it and slid off it in a roundabout but got back up, bent it back into shape with a hammer and kept riding. Sold it for the same price I bought it. Then an MT-09 (FZ-09 in the States). It was awesome fun but needed a tourer so went MT-10 when I could manage it. It’s my dream bike and I adore it but DO NOT BUY IT FOR YOUR FIRST BIKE. It’s too much power and you can’t learn to throw your body around to get the most out of it like you can a small bike. Too early and it will rob you of confidence. Later, you can buy it when you’re ready and will love it. Please buy an MT-03 or MT-07 and work up. Please... you will love a small bike you can throw around and laugh on for the first 3 years. Learn to trust the tyres and brakes on a cheaper bike that you can drop and not worry too much about, just pick it up again. Test ride them for at least an hour each.

B standard is the smoothest on FZ10 I really like mine from sport riding, commuting, touring and it does everything well. The cons if any the fuel mileage is not so good and it could be smoother but I came from a Honda CBR1000RR which was so smooth. It has tons of accessories and goodies you can add I think you get more out the motorcycle instead of being so focused on one thing.

I don't know why guys have to stick fz in "A" mode, all the modes deliver 100% power. In fact most guys that own them ride "standard" or "2" mode because fueling is much better. Of course a competent flash smooths out the fueling massively.

Put over 50,000 miles on the Ducati. It's fast and comfortable but I really wasn't wowed by the build quality. Wind protection is crap (I'm 6'1"), and it has the worst transmission I've ever shifted. The V-twin engine is torquey but has an overall agricultural feel to it. I bought a 2016 R1 last year for track use and fell in love with the crossplane engine...it has a unique sound, combining the exhaust note of a triple and a V4 with the overall smoothness of a good I4. For street use it's a torture rack. The FZ/MT-10 retains the character but is much more practical for real-world everyday riding (commuting, weekend getaways, etc.). The fact that it love to pick the front wheel off the ground is just icing on the cake. Now, if only Yamaha USA would get their act together and get that SP model over here to the States...
