Got a 2013 fz6r with zero miles in 2015 for $5k, have over 18k miles on it now, live near Chicago and did a long trip around Lake Michigan with it, upright seating position, kept my handle bars. Amazing bike to commute to work and cruise the country with.

I loved mine! Guy that bought it lives right down the street from me so we go out and ride so at least I still get to see her. The only other down side I would say is there is not a lot of customization for this bike compared to the r6. There is a fair amount you can do but not as much as other 600cc. Good video once again my brother!!
@HalfClickUp

Caleb Hewitt yep and the lack of accessory and upgrade options may have contributed to the bike’s demise. It sure was produced for a good long while to have never received a more solid aftermarket support though 🤷‍♂️

I bought my 2011 with 8,000 miles and a clean title for only $1500 back in 2018, it was my first bike and I saved a good bit of money for mods. I learned to ride on that bike, but after three years I’m wanting to upgrade to a full fledged supersport. I’m hoping I’ll get lucky again and be in the right place at the right time.

First bike for me, used at 58K. I have Dad-Biked her with top and side cases. However, with cases I have hit 125 mph at 9K rpm without a power commander or anything done by me other than dual pole sparks, or I am not a tall or beefy guy (5'8" @ 175lbs)? Need to get a better seat, but I love that it is so flickable as needed. New forks and steering bearing help after 60K miles. I love the woshing sound when accelerating at about 7-8K rpm and the warble at 2.5K rpm. Life long bike for sure.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp 2 года назад
That’s awesome! I once did a 5 day, 1300 mile round trip to Big Bend National Park out in southwest Texas and had a Nelson Rigg soft bag setup and Givi dry bag rolled on the tail. May as well have been a touring bike! Performed beautifully.

I learned on a '93 Seca II, which is essentially the first generation of what became the FZ6R. It was easy to learn on. There are a lot of great options with smaller engines now, such as the Ninja 400, the R3, but you guys did a great job of nailing the advantages of the FZ. Starting on something with ABS and something much lighter would be a consideration, though.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp Год назад
Yes my biggest gripe is the weight. Makes for quite a robust platform though when your entire frame is steel 🤷🏻‍♂️😅
@brianhaygood183
@brianhaygood183 Год назад
@@HalfClickUp Yeah, but I should mention the FZ6R is far better than my old '93. Still a steal frame, but mine was air cooled with carbs. Fine at the time, but I'm not looking to go back to either of those. I've considered fuel injecting it just for kicks, but with it being air cooled there isn't really a point. 30lb lighter than the FZ6R, though.

@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp 4 года назад
RaceProtocol so there was a naked bike called the FZ6 with the same engine, but it had a more aggressive cam profile and put out more power. A good bit of its components swap over, even though they’re all technically different Yamaha part numbers. There are guys who have swapped the cams over to the FZ6R, but it’s next level engine building type stuff. Journal modification and honing, etc. I’d rather just go with an entire new bike 😆

I’m selling my HD 883 Sportster, my first bike, this weekend. Looking to get my forever sportbike. Something practical and fun. I’ve ridden CBR 300s, Ninja 650s, and a CBR600F4i. I loved the F4i, but it was too much of a jump in power for me, too twitchy. The 300 was the opposite, not enough bike, especially for my hour long commute to work. I think come spring I’m going to try and find a decent used FZ6R. It seems to check all the boxes.
@HalfClickUp

Greetings from Canada. For 36 years now I’ve been riding the YZ, SRX, and APEX. One would think I should have the R1, well I don’t. I to have the 2013 FZ6R. I don’t own a Yamaha for its top speed, rather Yamaha’s performance. The models listed above, none carry any restrictions as to riding preferences. And a top performance toy is actually kinda hard to operate in metropolitan areas. The FZ6R shines in this area of operation. It’s not lacking in agility, handling, and required performance. A top performance model commands respect, and input. The FZ6R is what makes riding FUN.....
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp 3 года назад
Aiden Demchynski I couldn’t agree more! You’re right, too often riders will concentrate on having the most performance available, even when it’s completely inappropriate for their commute or street rides. The FZ6R offers that fine balance between performance and daily streetability. By the way, welcome to the channel, I’m glad to have you! There’s a Canadian FZ6R vlogger that you may enjoy, as well. His name is Ridethe6. He even has an MV Agusta F3.

So, currently have a 2020 Kawa Z400, wanting to trade up into something a bit sportier, would this, a 2009 fz6r be a solid trade up? P-twin vs inline-4, 44hp vs 68~. Both still beginner bikes but I've been riding for a year and I just want something different.
@HalfClickUp
@HalfClickUp 2 года назад
I think you’d enjoy the increase in power and general smoothness of the in-line four; however, understand that the Fizzer is quite heavy for what it is. You won’t have as much of the flickability that you enjoy with the 400.
@FrenchysPlaysTV
@FrenchysPlaysTV 2 года назад
@@HalfClickUp That's a fair point. I think in terms of future proofing and comfort though the fizzer might win. The 400 is peppy but it suffers from the jitteryness of the p-twin, and a few other smaller kawasaki issues. I don't think I'll be hitting the tail of the dragon any time soon, so I could probably afford a small loss in flickability.
