man I wish I would have seen you're videos month's ago. I got a 660 that's been a major pain in my @ss. I had to tear it apart 3 times in 3 month's. finally got it running again, but if i screw it up again I know who to send it to
I got a 2001 raptor 660r with a 686 big bore kit and got Xmas stage 2Z weisco 12:1 pistons and hot Rudz connecting rods what size jets would I use and what settings if I’m in between 1500-3000 ft above sea level
Great vids! I have a raptor 686 I’ve been having some issues with starting with the high compression. I bought as it was just rebuilt and they gave up and fried the starter. I too fried the Amazon high torque starter. I believe it’s running the stock cam/head. I have replaced the wire from the starter to the solenoid the solenoid to the battery with substantially larger cable and put an extra ground from the starter to the negative ground to the battery. My next move is to check valve clearances and the decompression pin. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I would definitely check the compression, see what you have, go from there. It should not be anything crazy high. Just lookup std cranking compression value and see what you have
@@geezermoto7820 thanks I’ll have to wait on the new starter. BTW I had it running just a hair rich 185 mains and 27.5 pilots. Everything sounded good not sure if that gives you any ideas, but thanks your vids have already helped for sure on the jetting. I was hard on the starter trying to get her going first and once she warmed up it started easy then all the sudden starter fried trying to start cold. Thanks again!
@@geezermoto7820 hey man are they anyway you can tune my carbs for my 660r I ordered them form zoom zoom parts off Amazon norhing. It good reviews but for some reason I can not get tuned right it cranks fine and idles fine but when I give it gas it’s acting like it wants to big down and cut off or backfire I’m lost I need some help I’m willing to pay for someone to help me to get them set right thanks
What size jets did you end up putting in the raptor? Mine smoke black at idle and runs tuff and then doesn’t have smooth acceleration and back fires a lot. Has a brand new 686 top end was stock jug bored out. Any help would be awesome
Ebay Search n224 103 27.5 For 27.5 pilot and search n102 main jet 160 For 160 main Get 160 thru 185 mains. 160,165,170,175,180 and 185 And, you need 2 each
27.5/30 pilots 160/165 mains std needles 1 notch richer as far as the rear intake manifolds, 90's and smaller tubes, go see partzilla.com and look it up for all parts
smaller jets in left carb, bigger in right side carb. Right side is like the secondaries on a 4 bbl car carb. left means left as you ride the bike. clutch is right side, stator is left side, for example
i just buy the jets i need to set correct jetting. After years of carb tuning, you can "hear" rich or lean and have a damn good idea how much more jet is needed in comparison to the changes made
I have spark and gas but it seems like it not getting gas i put a new sp in and it tried to start and then nothing i don't know what to check i don't think there's a full pump
I had someone clean the carbs before and it was running but not good it was losing power when I hit the gas to get on it and then it just stopped starting again
@@donjohn7671 have you measured compression? Do you have idle set low or backed out for no idle? Then you can just give a small bit of throttle. if idle is set too high, it will not get enough fuel to start.
