I had one new as a kid - My dad saw me scraping the centre stand on a roundabout overtaking a lady in some car. I was proud he was not - This bike was a pocket rocket in its day - I wish I had bought an RD500
ich habe damals,es mag 1986 gewesen sein,genau diese moped aus der "motorrad" ausgeschnitten und an die wand geklebt,es war mein größter traum,als ich den "lappen" hatte,habe ich sie mir nicht gekauft,da zählten (für mich plötzlich) möglichst große 4 takter mit jeder menge "leistung" .... es ist eine zz-r 600 geworden mit offen 98ps (im brief 27) und ich fühlte mich wie ein rebell :-)
Und heute kommen die Jungs, stehen neben dem Moped und wissen genau, was sie versäumt haben bzw. wieder haben wollen. Die modernen 4T sind absolut gute Motorräder, aber langweilig. Der 2Takter ist ganz anders. Die 1WW, also die RD ab 1986 , liebe ich :-). Wenn man die im Griff hat mit einigen notwendigen Modis (z.B. Kühlung) und ca. 70PS, hat man ein Traumbike.
Great Bike - love them! Nothing better than a stroker with a freaky powerband disappearing in a cloud of blue Castrol R smoke - something you just don't see or hear these days :-(
@SkaterRitto Drehen lassen ist nie "gut" aber es soll ja auch spaß machen...gelle :-) Die Zylinder werden wenn verschlissen neu gebohrt + neue Kolben. Zylinder hält ohne Schaden ca.30.000 bis 50.000Km.
The piston and cylinder had some some treatment, chrome type and revstemento tiles??, Muiot is good to know that the engine is still running, nice bike!
Look at my RD/RGV 380 ccm conversion vid.....in this bike turns a 4mm crank up to 12.800 on the Amerschläger P4 for only one time. I never rev it again so high .
Full throttle easy 12 l/100 km. Typically 2 stroke engines, I had a RD 350. But acceleration and engine is fantastic. A guy with a CBR 1000 started accelerating from one traffic light to another, and looked disturbed when I was just beside him with this tiny bike and tiny engine sound, jajaja RD rulez!

@Soenke77 Danke ;-) . Aber da fehlen ja noch 15 PS. So läuft die aber auch ganz gut. der Hit ist die Aufnahme....toller Sound und klares Bild. Was für den Winter.
@MrYamahaRD350 Hinterrad 54,5 PS also etwas getunt fast die Serienleistung von 63PS. Eine originale 1WW hat aber kaum mehr als 46-48 PS Hinterrad. Yamaha hat da wohl geschummelt.
Wow - into the red and out the other side! Damn thing is pinning the rev counter on the stop at 12,000 - I never realised these motors could be made to spin that fast. Back in the day a standard air-cooled RD350 would hit c. 7500.
My RD/RGV Hybrit rev to 12.700 on the Dyno. The question is not who high can I rev......the question is what have I do to make it stable. You can also rev the aircooled RD´s to 12.000 .....you have to fit the best Exhaust and tdo the best barrel- tuning.
True, it was the standard 'diffuser' type pipes that limited the old YR/RDs, and they could hit 8,000-8,500 with over-the-counter expansion pipes, left standard otherwise. And also, as you say, radical port-timing (and pipes matched to it) could and did substantially increase that (which the water-cooled bikes were happy with). But still, back then I don't think many people (if any) aimed for and achieved 12,000 plus RPM (and 63+ HP) with them (that really was TZ350 territory). What you've done is mighty impressive. BTW, I only owned an RD250B with some pipes (Allspeed?) and some did some not-very-professional tuning that involved raising and widening the exhaust port a couple of mm, which felt like it made F-all difference to the performance (I really didn't know what I was doing at 17).
I actually didn't expect likes to be honest. I just said what I thought. I have a Gilera SP180 2T, and they don't make scooters/Motorcyles like this today. Everything is all 4T safety and emissions. Soon we'll be riding in a two wheeled electric protective bubble, wrapped in cotton wool. Most of the excitement of riding, is that insane F-1 Sound like on a CBR 250RR from a high revving engine, esp when it hits the powerband and the fear of falling off. Ich hatte auch mal eine. Hat ohne Ende Spaß gemacht das Teil. Zweitakt Feeling eben. Jetzt muß ich meine 12er Bandit durch die Ecken wuchten und denke wehmütig an die Kolbenfresser und die Ölfahnen von damals. Vielleicht kommt so was mal wieder in die Garage.
essa moto é muito louca, quando voce pega ela nova anda entre 4500 RPM e 9500 RPM depois de alguns dias voce só troca marcha entre 9000 RPM e 13000 RPM incrivelmente el muda seu hábito de pilotar! Muito boa, moto de poucos.Vamos torcer para volta a frabricação de RD que o brinquedo era bom e barato.
Hallo, was hast du außer der JL Anlage noch gemacht? was mich interessieren würde falls alles andere Original wie der Vergaser bedüst werden muss :) damit man sie ziemlich plug and play verbauen kann :D Danke

@holliheizer Die haben sicherlich geschummelt. Ich weiß zwar nicht, wie viel PS meine hat, aber nachdem sie erst 13.000km drauf hat, nehme ich an, dass sie noch die originalleistung hat.

@1980aankrah technically speaking the emission laws should be ignored for models banned from 1985-1987 right now seeing as how a motorcycle or car does not have to pass emissions testing if it is older than 25 years :p

I remember my 3 RD's in the '80s. It looks like the rpm counter goes to fast to high region. Ist the clutch ok or is the machine tuned a little? I ask, because the speedometer is slow growing for the fast climbing of rpm.
Reinhard....did you drive a motorcycle?? No one who drives a motorcycle ask me the question.......clutch is very good.....and this RD is still running.

After CB 400N, Yamaha ty 125, RD 350 Lc, RD 350 Ypvs and the last Modell RD 350 with 63 Hp, FZ 750, 1200 Sportster, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Kawasaki GPZ 1100, and now Honda CBR 1100 Xx. Und hab grad gesehn, du bist ja wie ich aus D. Ne, das war wirklich kein Schlechtmachen oder so. Aber ich bin damals wirklich ca.50000 km mit den Dingern und zwar im Heizmodus gefahren. Und mir kam es so vor als ab die Drehzahl nicht linear zur Geschwindigkeit steigt. Zumindest habe ich das so nicht in Erinnerung. Vielleicht aber auch schon zu lange her. Also bitte nicht übelnehmen.....;). Geiles Teil, ebenso wie deine anderen Videos!
@@aircloud1 Hi du, ich nehme dir das nicht übel.....aber wie gesagt....das die getunt ist, ist doch nun wirklich sichtbar. Keine RD dreht in die 12.000. Wenn die Kupplung rutscht, dann steht nur noch der Drehzahlmesser. Die Amis fahren in ihren Videos gerne mit schleifender Kupplung....ist doch echt Blödsinn. Gruß Holli

@@aircloud1 Bei 9500 bis 10.000 war oft Ende. Nur die 250er YPVS drehten höher bis ca. 11.500. MeinRD / RGV Umbau hatte auf dem Prüfstand digital gemessen 12.700......unnormal .
Why does the instrument cluster look like that of an RD/RZ500? Is that a European thing? I've had both the American RZ350 and the Canadian RZ500 and what i'm seeing on this video is a RZ500 insrmt cluster.
guten Morgen, schönes Video und wie das Motorrad von 8.000 bis 11.000 Umdrehungen pro Minute geht ... wenn ich eine wilde Frage, meine rd 350, tun wollte ein Problem hat, die er bekommen zu 6.000rpm und stirbt, Macht Tropfen, was kann das sein? alle ursprünglichen, sauberen Vergaser, Originaldüsen, versetzt auf der vierten erstklassig, ich den Stator geändert, die gekocht wurde, kann es sein ???? YPVS die Ventile bei Strom offen ... vielen Dank :) Ps: Ich entschuldige mich, aber mit der deutschen half mir Übersetzer google! Luca

+holliheizer You're right google translate is bad! the problem of my RD, is that at 6,000 rpm loses power, do not rise more than the rpm !!! carburetors are original, even the jets and the needle notch !! the YPVS valves seems that move! What can it be? the control unit?
+Luca Giamma First of all you push the plug of the ypvs servo motor under the tank right side. Push it on fully open position. After this start the engine and drive the bike and rev it high as possible. In most case of this issue the prob ist a close ypvs valve. Some guys fit the cables on wrong position......1+2 .....you can change it.
