In this episode we go over some trouble shooting of the fuel pump. I also have a video on how to replace your fuel pump ( episode 71)
If your side of the road broke down due to your fuel pump failing i have a video on how to bypass your fuel pump to get home ( episode 70) and a video on how to bypass it permanently ( episode )

Thank-you! I have a few more videos coming on how to change the fuel pump , how to bypass the fuel pump on the side of the road, and how to permanently bypass the pump. Thanks for watching and safe travels 👍

Hey, good video. I am working on my pump now. I was curious about that round gauge, next to fuel pump, is that oil presure gauge? Thank. Dan

Thanks Dan, and thanks for watching 👍 yes it's oil pressure ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9kPVF2f4_qw.html ) if the link doesn't work it's episode 60 . I've had it on my bike for quite a few years now , it's definitely nice to have and was relatively cheap to do , I have the parts list and prices in the video, can't remember exactly but I think it was in the 30-40$ range . I've heard the earlier Yamaha Silverado had a weak oil pump stem and have seen others put gauges on there bikes , gauge let's you know your getting oil to the top end of the back cylinder, it's definitely better than nothing , and in hot stop and go traffic or construction areas you would be surprised how low the pressure gets , I've seen it down two 0 once just as I was getting to the end of stop and go construction, any further I would of had to stop amd let the bike cool down, I definitely recommend it for peace of mind.

Love your channel, so glad I found it. I do have a question. I have an 05 Roadstar Midnight Silverado, in which I am about to change the fuel pump. My pump seems to work sometimes and sometimes it will stop working while I am riding, thereby causing my bike to completely shutdown. Leaving me stranded. But a few hours later the pump will start working again. My question is, about how long can a pump keep doing this before completely shutting down and not work at all? Not sure why I didn't think to tap on the pump to get it started again. That could have saved me alot of trouble. LoL

Thanks , definitely have a lot of videos on our bikes and more on their way. Every time my pump has failed it never came back to life , so I can't give you an answer on that , you might be getting lucky lol . One thing to check when the bike dies , open up your gas tank and listen to see if there is a suction noise , if there is , it means your vent line on the tank is plugged , and if that's the case it might explain why a few hours later your pump works again , the tank gets to zero pressure and the pump is able to suck again . I've had that line plug up on my bike before, you stop to get gas and theres a suction taking the filler cap of the tank . Something to check , may be a hidden cause for your fuel pump issue . Or could just be the pump failing , but good to check so you don't burn out a new pump if there is a venting issue . I hope I didn't ramble too much , thanks for watching and safe travels 👍

@@ClargoGarage Hi thanks for getting back to me. Your answer makes alot of sense. If the vent line does get plugged, how can I unplug it and keep riding? And what is actually plugging it? Thank you again for your help and time.

I'm planning on replacing my vent line this winter , it seems to give me issues when doings alot of riding in the rain , I haven't confirmed it but I think it's getting old and braking down abit and possibly collapsing, I've blowin compressed air through it before and have got some dirt out of it whitch helped abit but I think it could be better. I also drilled the vent hole abit bigger in the tank to hopefully help with abit more flow of air. If your on the road and are in a pinch I think I showed it in the video of how I bypassed the fuel pump on the side of the road , I rolled up some electrical tape and put it under the filler cap to allow more air flow till I could get home and fix it ( when I got home that's when I drilled the tank hole bigger , I have a video coming out with that, not done editing yet ) , if you do the tape thing just make sure you leave it long enough or tape it to the cap so it dose not fall in the tank .

@@ClargoGarage @ClargoGarage Hi again. I replaced my fuel pump today and it works perfectly. Now I would like to check the vent line on the tank and blow some compressed air through it to see if there is any potential blockage in it. Where exactly on the fuel tank is the vent line, and would i have to detach the line to blow air through? You also mentioned you drilled the vent hole in the tank a little bigger, how exactly did you do that if the vent hole is in the tank? I really need to order the Roadstar Manual, lol. Thanks in advance for all the help you can give me.

@michaelrose2652 hi , sorry for the late reply, that's great it's running good again, the vent line is under your gauge cluster ( episode 24 will show how to get it off and also where the vent line is, and episode 31 will show putting it back on) , I have a video coming out that will show drilling the vent hole bigger, I just halfto finish editing it , but have been Buisy with family to finish it and get it up , hopefully in the next few weeks it will be up. But once you get your gauge cluster off, the vent line attaches to the top right side of the tank, disconnect it ( before blowing it out I would try to blow through it just with your mouth to see how free it flows ) then blow it out if it seems restricted and I would blow from the top down, if you blow from the bottom up I would make sure it's not attached to the tank to prevent getting any contaminants in the tank, sometimes road grime gets in it, ( other end is under the bike just dangling abit behind motor left side , if you look under your bike it should be the only line hanging down open ended ) , you can also take your filler cap off and with your mouth blow through where the vent line attaches and see if your vent is restricted on your tank, the factory hole is smaller than a pin , I opened it up to a small drill bit (1/8 I think I used , ) . Episode 32 will go over how to set the time on your cluster when you put it back on . Hope this helps abit , and thanks for watching hope this helped a bit , safe travels 👍
