NEver run the starter that long. When the engine is cold, pull the enriched plunger out top of carb and it should fire right up. If not you likely need to adjust your carb or float. Great find!
That's actually not a 2001. The 2001 is blue with the yellow lettering. I bought mine new from 2001 and that's the only option for it. I I'm not mistaken I think yours is 1998. And be careful with that pull start. It once broke my wrist it either goes or doesn't it kicks hard. Hope I helped a little.
That's funny. I have a green 2001 just like the one in this video and checked the VIN number with Yamaha. As per Yamaha, it is in fact a 2001. So, I am not so sure of what you say about the only option being blue.
Hey there, I own the same 2001 yamaha wolverine... Great ATV and easy to work on. I used to have a hard time cold starting the machine. Here are some things to check out. The obvious things first would be checking the battery voltage and making sure it holds a charge, check the air filter and spark plug. Then you said you cleaned the carburetor. Did you take it off the bike and remove the jets etc? I ultrasonic washed the carb on my machine and that helped quite a bit. After doing that and using fresh gas see if that makes a difference. I did all of those things and still had a bit of trouble starting cold, so I ended up checking the intake and exhaust valves to make sure they're within range. I believe my intake valve was adjusted a little bit too tight on my machine. Once I got it adjusted correctly that seemed to do the trick. I can't remember what the specs are for the valve adjustment but they are listed on the top of the air box cover. I forgot to ask before doing any of that I didn't see you pull the choke on the carb in the video. If you didn't pull the choke, try that. I usually pull the choke and start the machine and then I usually leave it at half choke for a minute or two to let the machine warm up and then release the choke and is usually good to go. $50 bucks was a steal on that... Good find.
Hey thanks yeah I think it is still the carb even after cleaning it, as I spray some carb cleaner in the air intake and it starts right up even when really cold.
ITP rims, not sure on the tire size but yeah they do for sure. I actually just sold it a few weeks ago or I’d measure them for ya. Ended up having trouble getting it started and ended up selling it.
Ryan Scheck I just got them on my wolverine. They are a discontinued rim for 12x7 rim and our bolt pattern. but they are ITP type 4 rims I believe. Been scanning eBay for months for a used set. Brushed aluminum wheel. Super light and durable, the center caps are getting harder to find too.
Hey guys wondering if you guys can help me out with my atv exact same one as video it does the same noice but doesn’t want to turn on I changed the stator but nothing thank you
if you changed the stator and you still have no spark, then look at the wiring before you buy anything else. It might just be some of the wires that run from the stator to the CDI box and then the ignition coil, it could also be that the coil isn’t grounded right. try to look thoroughly for any of these types of issues before you buy anything else i’ve had cases where i’ve spent money on parts and it ended up being some as simple as a bad piece of a wire. if you do have spark, then check for carb issues or bad gas. if you have good gas and spark getting to the engine, then you have bigger problems, which is highly unlikely because these yamahas basically run forever if you take care of them. Hope this helps you out a bit
no, maybe 2 years ago the timing chain jumped and tore up the inside a good bit, ended up selling it to someone with more inner mechanical knowledge/knowhow than me to fix and keep.
