Put a cage on it. Get rid of the Roof support. Move the radiator from the front to the rear, Will run cooler without trash plugging up the radiator.Wear a helmet every time driving it. Also eye protection. I have the same SxS you have.and its been great.
I'm surprised Yamaha didn't put their tried and true inline 4 cylinder in that machine. Those supposedly make around 150 hp out of the box with no modifications. The inline 4 is pretty much all top end power though and feel pretty tame under 6000 rpms.
Yamaha needs to pull a Mopar and put the mt07/r7 engine in a raptor atv chassis and a mt09 engine in the yxz1000r. those would be 2 machines i would be all over. Ive been saying this for years. maybe that will jumpstart the sport atv market again
For the love of these machines please buy a new primary air filter and get some air filter oil and clean it on a regular basis. You're going to be running leaner than normal without a primary air filter as well.
Where's the kid's helmet? A buddy of mine flipped his machine like that one not wearing a helmet. A lot of stitches and a concussion. Good thing he was wearing his seat belt.
Not sure if you'll get the notification for this but worth a shot. How is the volumn after the exhaust upgrade? I removed the spark arrestor completely for a while as at the time it was the poor man's exhaust mod. Sounded good but performance was noticeably worse and after riding for hours it was way too loud even while wearing helmets the whole time.
They are great machines, but making it faster without a good 4 point and roll cage may kill a person. I have been there with that junk stock cage. They won't take the speed these will do! Be safe out there man.

I’ve got one of these that sometimes doesn’t wanna go over 21 or so and hits this weird sputtering limiter. Maybe I’ll check out that filter , thought maybe it was the belt slipping
