This 2004 Zuma 50 had a "wouldn't-start" condition, think I found the cause and did a bit of a "work-around" repair to get it going. Main issue was with the starter clutch, interface between the starter clutch and belt drive due to improper assembly of the conical washer...

My speedometer light and the headlights both don’t work, they went out at the same time. Any idea on what it could be.

Hmm... I don't, fuse? unplugged wire? maybe the on/off switch?

I just got a 2014 yamaha Zuma 50F for free in mint condition. Only has 5k miles on it. When I try and start it, the starter seems to be struggling to move. Just ordered a new one and hoping that solves the issue. What would you recommend doing ?

I'd say battery before starter.. is at 12v? And 10 under load? Typically speaking idk about your specific but .

@@Valentine98766 I bought a new battery becuase the old one was at 10v fully charged. Plugged the new battery in, and the starter works 😅😅 did refund the starter I ordered. Definitely should have checked the battery first

Maybe try kick starting it, make sure it isn't seized before installing a starter... take the plug out, squirt a little oil into the cylinder before rolling it over

@@whatsbroken8309 I charged the battery, went to kickstart it and felt compression, so I turned over the ignition and tried to start it and she started right up. Recently replaced the carb, did an oil change, cleaned her up all the 5 nine. She’s running good, and I got a new jet coming in to tune her up

I would have tried thread tape just to see if it would work because thats a crank shaft replacement . I don't think the thread tape is a full time fix but it would go till the parts come in .

Using the thin washer to "tighten it up" seemed to work, she rode it all summer, no issues

i have question my 2008 zuma 50cc electrical start dont work what could it be. i have fresh new battery and 7 amp fuse. i only heard click from start relay

Perhaps just double check the battery has 12 or more volts, if it's good, it could be the starter relay or starter...

take the seat out and you can get to the starter much better dropping the tier and the exhaust is way to much work to change the starter .

Could try to hit it lightly with a mig welder and use a dremel tool and file to cut the teeth back in. Will take a minute buy should work it only has 5 or so horsepower

Thanks Jesse, might try that, so far the repair worked but she only rode for a month or so last fall before it snowed, will see what this spring brings...
