I picked this and some other machines up a garage sale about a month ago that were sitting. l bought them in unknown condition. lets see what it takes to get it running.
paul beenis me too but my main mower is a John Deere gt245 I sometimes use my cube 1812 or the red 582 or my simplicity 4211 or my snapper vibragevridibg mower or my John Deere 68 rear engine riding mower good stuff
STEVE W..me either...i haven't used my own mower in years cuz i fix other peoples mowers and snowblowers...gotta test them out before sending them back to the owner
Same here man, my neighbor has been into the small engine bizz for about 40 years and is finally getting tired of it, and i am lucky enough to be able to take what hes gathered over the years and be able to pass it down to others. this hobby is so fun because when you work on something for 2 hours and you finally hear it run after not knowing how long it had been. its really satisfying, Have a good day man!
@Mustie1, thanks for all the videos! I'm 45 years old and I have never been in to motors.. But for half a year ago I decided that I want to be able to repair machines my self. I have looked at all your videos of small machine repair now. And now I have repaired 2 lawn movers, One mini quad and bougt my self a non working MC from 1947 and taken down the whole engine in parts and together again. So thanks very much! Best regards from Sweden
Same here! I startet to repair my piaggio scooter myself and be confident to give my mower a basic service. I enjoy how you explain how to diagnose and check most possible issues strategicly. Thanks and Greetings from Germany to Mustie! beathecarpentiere ;-)
I swear, you always manage to get the world's best deal, on the items you share with us. I sure do wish I had even half of your luck in finding stuff like this.
I used to get upset working on projects. Instead of giving yourself a clear head, it seems to make matters worse. Have some fun with a challenge, learn, and be patient. It usually all falls into place with time. This is what I have experienced.
I have that same problem. At east two, sometimes three sets of blades every year. If I'm using the mower with the bagger attachment I get a real workout taking those bags off and dumping them because they are so full of sand. Who needs to waste money on a gym when you have a yard like mine?
This channel is showing up at your buddies garage, cracking a beer, watching him or her work on their broken thing and being thrilled it's not your thing that needs to take you to work in the morning.
vwnut 1967 Brian you could have said hello to us before you started your cutting grass! 🤪 Since you have a mower with a bagger you can start some good compost for your garden!
Mustie, you STOLE that Toro!!!!! There wasn't even dirt on the rear tires, probably delivered to the house and the guy died right after that. Nice money to be made at resale, man on man......lol
You don't need any gimmick like goofy teeth to appeal to us, you're just a very good mechanic. that's why we love and respect you. Don't let the idiots get under your skin, I know that you know what you're doing, they are the ones who need to learn a few things! God bless you and the wife and dogs :-)
My Pops used to have his house and the next door lot. At least two acres and hilly in spots. We had two push mowers. Seems like after we finished mowing it was time to start again. 🥵
I woke up this morning thinking to myself. I wish it was sunday right now so I could enjoy my coffee with a Mustie1 video. I opened up youtube and bam! There was a new Mustie video had just been uploaded 9mins before! Love feeling like I willed a video into existence haha.
Mustie1 I don't know if you heard or not but Jeff Bradshaw AKA Elder iron had been in a serious head on collision back in August he had two surgeries on his leg and Ankle broken some ribs punctured a lung and a serious concussion since then he has been released on August 30th thank God for that. I don't know if you're aware but I was asked to spread the news. Right now he is in still bad shape and his family is suffering as well. Him being a fellow RU-vidr and a vintage truck restore I thought you should know. I found out from the backyard Alaskan yesterday and he asked to spread the word so I am take care mustie1
FYI I have a zero turn with an enclosure around the engine. I installed pipe wrap on the exhaust manifolds and muffler. Dropped engine compartment temperature by 20-30 degrees.
Good idea! I use the header wrap on my racecar never though to put it on the mower. Will definitely lower the air temp also help with keeping it catch fire around the exhaust and muffler. Ok I'm headed to the garage now! Lol
Good to see young men like yourself are still out there! Most kids your age have no interest in fixing anything. My two boys love working with me in the shop. My son started learning with me around 4 or 5 years old now today he can weld rebuild carburetors rebuild a small engine along with alot of other stuff. Now at the age of 11 we have started building his first car for him when he turns 16! My advice is when your out and you see an old lawn mower or something with an engine out in the trash bring it home and take it apart and experiment see if you can make it come alive. Start with something that dont matter so if you mess up it's no big deal! Follow your dreams young man if you want something chase it! Also your soon going to be in high school in a few years look into tech school! Not sure if its offered in your area but it is a very good way for young men like you to learn how to work on things and learn a very valuable trade! Many different classes that give you the opportunity to learn alot everything from diesel mechanics to welding, auto mechanics, autobody, and the list goes on definitely something to look into! But for now follow your dreams!
In my city of MIssissauga, Ontario, Canada...we used to be able to bag grass clippings and the city would pick them up weekly, make compost and then sell the compost. Great service. Now, that service has been discontinued. We are all encouraged to simply cut the grass and leave the clippings to degrade back into the soil. Given most mowers use mulching blades, this actually works well. Once we got over the city taking away a service we had grown used to receiving, it is actually an intelligent policy to have implemented.
I used a side patch for tires. Worked till they were dead. Trick is to clean and grind the top layer off the inside then glue then dry then apply the patch with a roller wheel
I just got inspired to put Mustie on pause and go down and pull the fan shroud off my riding mower engine and blow out debris to ensure it doesn't overheat. I've had it a dozen years, had never done it, and figured it might be a good idea. Turns out, really didn't have much debris, but don't regret doing it. Took less than a half hour.
You scored! That sucker is mint! Bug-nut got grins and smiles for years. Chicken dinner! Hey Zero turns put a lot of stress on the outside walls of tires, inherently. Gota replace the tire.... oh well. It purred when first fired up. 400$: Major score. What else can you say. Dig the whole setup.
A few years back I got a free used mower that needed the carb cleaned. It was one of those that requires a thin wrench. I’ve always kept odd little tools that come with things like furniture you put together so had a thin wrench but it wasn’t correct size so I filed it to the correct size! Later on I saw a pack of a few thin wrenches at Dollar Tree & I grabbed them just for such issues. After I watched the scooter video, I texted the link to a friend in her 70’s. Just wanted to show her how neat it was but really didn’t expect her to watch. Way later she finally replied & said she had watched half of it so far & it was interesting! When she was married & raising her kids her husband would sometimes request that she help him with something he was working on on a car & lets just say it was not a good experience for her. So she never imagined she could enjoy watching a mechanic work & maybe even actually learn a bit in the process! 😊
Another awesome Mustie1 episode I missed. Back when he still had muttonchop sideburns working from his garage. I love when one pops up when I'm jonesing for one. Hopefully we get one tbis Sunday.
Nice to get an easy one every once in awhile! They are great little machines for a home owner! I'm sure Brian will definitely appreciate having it! Sure beats pushing 2 acres!
Mustie1 yeah the last project from that pile that you bought from that lady needed a coil and yeah it probably washed the cylinder out with gas so you change the oil but looking at the stuff that you bought from her there was no doubt in my mind that you got a hell of a deal ,you got 10 year old brand new stuff and you definitely knew it. I'm glad that you got such good stuff they will definitely make a good resale for somebody. Or if you keep them that'll be great for you, four hundred bucks for a Toro Zero Turn never heard of such a thing . Hats off to you mustie1 for making the deal of the century. I mean the last video I watched with the Cutlass I thought that was a great one to, the deal of the century I was thinking of myself where in the hell does he find this stuff. Well we all know because you are a national celebrity now worldwide mustie1. I am feeling very blessed with the amount of videos that you are putting out if I can get the rest of my favorites to do the same thing I would never have to watch regular TV or Netflix. Mustie1 stay safe stay well and as always God bless.
I live in Australia and usually I go to bed at around 12 at night but tonight I was struck by a new mustie upload the Temptation of should I mess up my sleep schedule or go to sleep but you seeing this comment means you know what I chose..............worth it
I got one of the side of the road started right up I was like why did they throw away until I went to mow brand new blades upside down traded it for a big electric heater and installed in shop
Yea he’s got taryl teeth for sale they are made to look like his I feel like I need them I love me some good taryl apparel also I’m not sure that it’s good to drink gas taryl. !!
I'm sure someone will take issue with my correction, so let me just say there's nothing wrong with a good education. Besides, I'm a veteran, so your taxpayer dollars helped provide me with said education and the least I can do is share it with you for no charge.
Just finished watching all of his videos. Another good one is Andrew Camarata. He does excavating. Doesn't sound great but you cant stop watching. He has also built a house and workshop out of shipping containers. Great channel.
Take the caps off the battery. Charge 200amps for 15 minutes, then let cool for 1 hour, Repeat this process until all cells show a good "bubbling". (consistent gurgling) This will bring battery back to life and also clean plates.
Thats a damn good buy for 400 bucks. I work at the Toro plant in Shakopee, MN. The quality in this plant is up to the guy making the part. And a 2nd quality check is performed by QA. ALWAYS!!!!
My brother has the same Toro zero turn lawnmower. For years, he's been trying to talk me into getting one. But, I can't give up my old Cub Cadet tractor since its so reliable.
Hahaha, found it instantly. Upside down blade, lol. Do landscaping and I can't even count the number of times i've caught other crew installing them upside down. Very common mistake for those that do the mowing, but don't have a lot of experience with maintaining equipment
Yes. those zero turns are a blast. used a John Deere and a Walker. Walker doesn’t like wet grass at all. and small stick I found out. your a kick in the pants. Keep it up. :-)
Louis Rossmann had the same camera issue - the need to use an app to get the camera running. The only reason for that is that they want to track you, so don't use it for privacy reasons. So far GoPro don't do that, even though GoPro have some quirks too.
I bought and older model of the "Time Cutter" just to get me through one season so I wouldn't have to buy a new mower in the spring. I've had to weld it up all over for being worn out but it's still cutting so I use it for the rough part of the yard so as not to tear up my new one. I had to change out a blown head gasket. The drives are sealed units, I asked a dealer about the life time and he told me he had never had one returned with an issue in the drive units other than a belt issue. The first few times I mowed with a Z turn my hands were worn out from holding on but after I got used to it that went away.
You can get a used 6S or 6S Plus for a reasonable (Apple) price and still have a nice phone that is decently powerful and is still being updated and supported by Apple. Save your money, don't buy a new phone if you don't need one. I'm very happy with my 6S plus. It's a bit big, but on those few occasions I need to see a video on something and I'm not around my computer, the larger screen is nice. I don't need anything fancier. I'm 55 and, well, my daughter got the 6S Plus for me because she was tired of me having a really shitty phone.
16:00 you gotta get it wet first 😜 I ain't gonna lie my mind went straight to the gutter keep up with the brilliant work always a pleasure watching you work stay safe and well dude
I feel ya on the heat. I live in south alabama right on the gulf. 100% humidity and trip digit heat from June to September. Was 105 today. Working on mowers outside all day is not for the faint of heart...
Dear Mustie1. 👍👌👏 Well done again. Seems to be a really good machine. Over here in Germany Toro is very expensive. You could have made a lot of profit but friendship counts definitely more than money (at least mostly). I'm wondering if this device wasn't used because it mowed bad (because of the one upside down blade). 2) Yeah nut, cut the sand! 3) Nice Buffalo footage. Every time I see a Buffalo it reminds me instantly of the fantastic Kevin Costner movie. Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health.
You have got to be the luckiest guy I know finding something like this. I got my hands on two MTD one I just have for motor the other for trying to cut my small yard can’t walk or stand for any length of time. But spend more time working on it to even cut my little yard. This thing you just got would be prefect.
