Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya and Kitab al-Istighatha Fi al-Rad Ala al-Bakri:
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya says on p. 222:
"It is known by necessity in Islam that any one of them if a need befalls him, he would rush to the dead saying "O My Master X! I am in your reckoning or fulfill my needs as some of those Mushrikeen say.”
He says on p. 309:
“The servant [of the monastery] says: “You said to the Shaykh who says to the Prophet who says to Allah and Allah has sent a messenger to Sultan X. So is this nothing except the exact religion of the Mushrikeen and Christians and that in it is from the lies and ignorance that which no Mushrik or Christian would even think about permitting himself say or spread.”
Here on p. 350 Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya asserts that the statement of Bakri is a carbon copy of the state of those Mushrikeen, meaning the planet worshippers, and that no Muslim or sane person can say that rather it is a part of what the Christians say.
He says on p. 326:
“The extreme Mushrikeen are in reality those who have been stingy towards the prophets concerning what they deserve in veneration."
He says on p. 382:
"And those who when he seeks out the grave that he venerates, he cries and humbles and submits and supplicates and there is softness and humility and servitude and the heart is serene and sincere and present, such a state that he doesn’t get when he prays his five and prays the night or reads the Quran. Then is this not but the state of the mushrikeen innovators?!!"
He says on p. 350:
“Allah has commanded that He be invoked and asked and He did not make [one] Invoking the creation [mean that he is] invoking Him. Rather, Allah forbade invoking him [ie the created being] and if this was true [ie invoking the creation means invoking Allah] then the one who invoked the Angels and Prophets would be an invocation to Allah and so he would not be a Mushrik. But Allah made them Mushrikeen as He stated in the verse Say, "Invoke those you have claimed besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]."
He said on p. 403:
“Rather, this is clear kufr and apostasy from Islam. And this is the implication of these ignorants; the implications of their speech, indeed, is apostasy from the din and kufr in the Lord of the ‘alamin. There is no doubt that the basis of the view of these [ignorants] falls under associating [partners] with Allah - which is the kufr that Allah will not forgive.”

@Schajan Vardani Christians use a similar argument for trinity, they say God can have a son according to his power and permission, so it’s not polytheism. Asking from the creation (dead or alive) for that which can only be asked from Allah is shirk, irrespective of whether you believe Allah gave them the ability or not. This is the position of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya, contrary to what Yasir Qadhi said. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya said: *"If a person says: 'I call upon the Shaykh so that he may be a intermediary for me, then such is in the same category as the du'a (invoking) of the Christians to Maryam, and the Rabbis and Monks; and the believer only pleads from Allah and fears him, and invokes him alone sincerely; and his Shaykh's right upon him, is that he prays FOR him and makes du'a for him and asks (Allah) to have mercy upon him.”* فَإذا قالَ قائِلٌ: أنا أدْعُو الشَّيْخَ لِيَكُونَ شَفِيعًا لِي فَهُوَ مِن جِنْسِ دُعاءِ النَّصارى لِمَرْيَمَ والأحْبارِ والرُّهْبانِ. والمُؤْمِنُ يَرْجُو رَبَّهُ ويَخافُهُ ويَدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصًا لَهُ الدِّينَ وحَقُّ شَيْخِهِ أنْ يَدْعُوَ لَهُ ويَتَرَحَّمَ عَلَيْهِ (Majmu al-Fatawa 27/87)

@Schajan Vardani You didn’t watch this video, Yasir Qadhi is saying that Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya didn’t consider it shirk when he clearly did. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya clearly describes the path of al-Bakri as one of disbelief, apostasy and polytheism. His student Imam al-Muhaqqiq Ibn al-Qayyim said: *“Among the types of idolatry are seeking one’s needs from the dead, seeking their aid, and turning to them. This is the origin of idolatry in the world. Indeed, the deeds of the deceased have been put to an end and they have no control for themselves to cause harm or benefit, especially one who seeks their aid and asks them to fulfill their needs or asks them to intercede with Allah for them.”* ومِن أنْواعِهِ طَلَبُ الحَوائِجِ مِنَ المَوْتى، والِاسْتِغاثَةُ بِهِمْ، والتَّوَجُّهُ إلَيْهِمْ. (Madarij al-Salikeen 1/353)

@@shaunshaikh8617 His "opponents" are rendering the ummah (especially the awaam who don't have access to advanced scholarly works) a great service by separating the truth from the many falsehoods being propagated in the da'wah scenes. @@shaunshaikh8617 As you must already know, one doesn't just automatically gain access to advanced scholarly works at the snap of a finger. There are several hurdles to climb ( gaining mastery of the lughah, learning usool, qawaa'id , e.t.c), which, realistically, won't be attempted my majority of the ummah; a bulk of which are new Muslims. Hence, we have students of knowledge/du'aat who have the amaanah of bridging the gap between the masses and advanced scholarly works. So, when we have looked-up-to personalities trying to distort the message which they were entrusted with conveying, it becomes incumbent on the sincere students of knowledge to make necessary clarifications and refutations.

@@shaunshaikh8617 Nobody claims to have a monopoly over the Sunnah. Alhamdulillaah, the Sunnah has been preserved through the efforts of "human" scholars over the generations, and is as clear as daylight for everyone who seeks to know and practice it. One thing that the enemies of salafiyyah are good at is making vague claims about the scholars upon Sunnah and their efforts in preserving the deen. You are always quick to claim "your aqeedah is man-made", "you think you are better than the rest of the ummah", "you have a narrow-minded understanding of the deen" , "you blindly follow your scholars", etc, but fail abysmally when asked to provide proofs to substantiate your claims. Well, there's news for you. Your pathetic efforts in discrediting us does us no harm as long as we are able to defend our standpoints with the Qur'an and Sunnah (according to the understanding of the salaf).

@@falsesectslikeshiaarejudeo6543 Well this is what islamweb said : Regarding correcting others in an Islamic discussion, sometimes, when one is in conversation, one hears a lot other speakers (parents, friends, etc.) saying things like, “This is allowed,” or, “This is disallowed in Islam,” and so on. What is the ruling for the ordinary listener in this case? Should he speak out if he hears something that is wrong, or should he remain silent in the hope not to make further mistakes and cause debate in case the listener is not exactly sure of the matter being talked about and what the actual ruling in Islam is? Does not saying anything amount to accepting what might be wrong? On the other hand, correcting others if one is not sure oneself may even cause another error by giving other incorrect information. Thank you for your advice. Answer All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger. If the listener knows that the speaker has made a mistake in clarifying an Islamic ruling, such as him making what is forbidden lawful, or forbidding what is lawful, then as an advice for him and for the listeners, one should clarify that for him and correct him so that he would correct the mistake. The advice should be secret in principle and not in public because the purpose of giving advice is not for exposing errors; rather, its purpose is to remove the error of the person who is advised. Whenever it is possible to give advice in secret, it should not be given in public. Ibn Al-Muflih stated in Al-Aadaab Ash-Shar’iyyah, and Al-Khateeb Al-Baghdaadi in Taareekh Baghdad that the Caliph Haroon ar-Rasheed told Al-Asma'i, “Honor us in public and teach us in private...” Imaam Ibn Wahb, who was one of the best disciples of Imaam Maalik, said: “Once, I heard when Imaam Maalik was asked about rubbing with water between the toes in ablution, and he replied, 'People do not have to do that.' I waited until people had gone away and I told him, 'We have a Sunnah regarding this matter.' He said, 'What is it?' I said, 'Al-Layth ibn Sa'd and Ibn Lahee’ah and ‘Umar and Ibn Al-Haarith narrated from Yazeed ibn ‘Amr Al-Mu’aafiri from Abu ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Al-Habali from Al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddaad Al-Qurashi, who said, 'I saw the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) rubbing between his toes with his smallest finger'' Maalik said, 'This hadeeth is sound; I have never heard of it until now;' then, afterwards, I heard Maalik being asked, and he ordered people to rub between their toes.” The etiquette of advice in secret is not specific to the scholars and the shaykhs; rather, it goes for every Muslim. This etiquette is even confirmed with people who have a right on us, such as a parent or an elderly person. If one knows that if he delays giving advice in secret, the audience will disperse and the listeners will hear that mistake and leave with it, then he should take the initiative to correct the mistake and to clarify the truth in a gentle manner without rebuke. The scholars stated this in regard to correcting the shaykh who is teaching if he had made a mistake, let alone if the one who had made the mistake is a layman who speaks about the religion of Allaah without knowledge. Ibn Jamaa’ah said in his book Tathkirat as-Saami’ wal Mutakallim fi Aadaab al-‘Aalim wal-Muta’allim: “If it is certain that the shaykh has made a mistake in answering a question, and it is possible to correct the mistake, so if this is the case, such as writing fataawa and the fact that the questioner may be a stranger or living far away, then it is an obligation to draw the attention of the shaykh to this issue on the spot, by a sign or a statement, because not doing so is a betrayal to the shaykh; so one must advise him by clarifying to him that he made a mistake while pointing this out to him with soft words and the like.” This is, of course, if the listener is sure about the mistake. However, if he only doubts it and has no knowledge about the matter, then he should not speak and advise with ignorance, as Allaah says (what means): {And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.} [Quran 17:36] Allaah knows best. link : www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/323278/etiquette-of-correcting-speakers-mistake-in-religious-knowledge I wanna highlight this paragraph : "The advice should be secret in principle and not in public because the purpose of giving advice is not for exposing errors; rather, its purpose is to remove the error of the person who is advised. Whenever it is possible to give advice in secret, it should not be given in public." Sheikh Yasir Qadhi has said that those who criticize him do not reach out to him privately. He has given his email and it's really not that hard to do that. If he doesn't respond then you can do a public "correction".
