Year 11 assessment task 

This video demonstrates the stages of a drawing from a 2D source which can be applied to any subject matter.
In the assessment:
-We will provide pupils with good quality reference images and materials.
-Pupils will select an image and use a pre made view finder to select their composition.
-Pupils can draw on the reference picture, use a strip of paper to take measurements but not use trace techniques.
-A light underdrawing should be developed aiming to reasonably accurately describe the composition.
Tone should be added. In the video we demonstrate a system working from dark to light, at the end of the video we remind you about how light appears on both curved and faceted surfaces either as a gradient or stepped.
-Mark marking to describe surface schools be used, look at the source material and try techniques which convey what you see. You might choose to use directional marks which follow the contour of the object.

Remember, while this is an assessed task, we will let you refine it post assessment as this will contribute to your coursework portfolio and work is marked collectively at the end of the course. We will also use this drawing to inform other class work.
