Don Allphin discovers that due to flooding in Early Summer at Yellowstone National Park, the fishing (particularly in Yellowstone Lake) has been outstanding. Don shows how he targets the "Invasive Species" lake trout and what he uses to target these beautiful yet unwanted fish. Don uses Jake's Spin-A-lures in gold with red dots (the 3/4-ounce version) along with Acme Tackle's Kamloopers in the 5/8-ounce size in Yellow with red dots Orange with black dots.
Don trolls at 1.4 to 1.7 mph and does not us downriggers. He talks about using barbless hooks and how to better your odds of getting fish all the way to the boat even with barbless hooks.
Yellowstone Lake has more "pollen" is it than Don has ever seen, providing more cover, shade, and perhaps nutrients for the fish in the form of insects matted together and mixed in with the pollen.
Don feels the floods in Yellowstone have improved the fishing and especially for lake trout.
