My first Yes concert, February 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum. It was my birthday present from my Dad. My brother and me, a stretch limo, and Billy Joel was on the radio playing Big Shot. It was the BIG tour. Yes was very late and they showed some very strange Popeye cartoons. I was 16 and my brother was on mescalin, trippin' sky. Not me, just needed the music. The band comes on, Morning daydream, midnight fever. I was floored. I was just getting into Yes, had no idea of the history beyond 90125 with the exception of All Good People at 4 years old. Something about the vocals, something hit me. They played and played like they were some forth dimension dream. They were gods up there, bringing forth a realm of sound that couldn't be duplicated. Then they started to play the classics. Chris, HOTS, like a dream that I never dared to dream. Fire, ice, ethereal vocals, stops and starts, thunder and powerful imagery. I was just 16 and fell in love....with music.

I totally remember the Popeye cartoons. Hearing 10,000 people go nuts when Popeye opened his can of spinach was amazing.

By the time they played in Philadelphia where I saw them, they had already dropped “I’m Running” from the set list. I would have loved to have seen that one performed live. Thanks for posting this!

I never thought of it this way until now, but Yes reformed when The Police broke up . Most groups don’t get second chances, but thankfully Yes did !

This version of Yes skipped by me in the 1980's, I was too busy trying to survive my 20's. But now I can listen to this and indulge in this bands different versions, thank you for posting this historic compilation. Truely unique and amazing.

between the yes album of sept 1987 and the gtr album of 1986 i was getting confused about who was who and radio did not clarify anything and i too was struggling to survive not able to go to all the concerts i should have back then.

A lot of really good performances were heard only on this tour -- this is a great way for people to hear them again. And a good thing the Omaha recording exists for those few that were quickly dropped.

Why doesn't Jon Anderson ever reference Tony's musicianship when he introduces him? He does it for everyone else.

Jon always favored Rick. Outside of his ability as a player, I never cared for Rick at all. Even in the 9012live doc when the band members are being interviewed, he references Rick, not Tony.

This is a great collection of Big Gen 1988 songs. Trevor simply RIPS through the solo guitar part in "Yours is no disgrace." I saw 2 Big Gen shows November 29th ,1987 ( or 88 LOL will double check year- turning into Ye old codger Yes fan! The other show I saw was the last or almost last- YES at Stabler Arena, Bethlehem, Pa. My shows - an earlier Houston show plus, compared to these recordings well, these are just plajn

Great playlist comprised of what I guess was your intent to combine the best performances from the tour. Rhythm of love sounds like Wakeman was playing keyboards, however he rejoined Yes for the Union tour in '91. I'm assuming that you have the correct date for Rhythm of Love since it was performed on the big generator tour as well. I don't mind not having the corresponding videos- I stream it in my car or listen at home for background music. But it's also great seeing live footage. Not the same experience as being there, but when listening on a home theatre (someday?) - it's the next best thing. Save money, avoid crowds- you know how that can bum you out sometimes!
