Progressive rock band Yes are inductees at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7, 2017, broadcast on HBO. The band’s co-founding frontman Jon Anderson reunited for a performance of Roundabout from 1971 Fragile with Rush bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Rick Wakeman, guitarist Trevor Rabin, and drummer Alan White.
Anderson and late bassist Chris Squire established Yes in 1968. Squire, Anderson and Bill Bruford, Steve Howe, Alan White, Rick Wakeman, Tony Kaye, and Trevor Rabin make up the official Yes lineup going into the Rock Hall. Although Bill Bruford came onstage to accept his award, the original Yes drummer did not perform.
Anderson last performed as a member of Yes in 2004 and officially left the group in 2008 after a fallout with his bandmates. “We’re definitely connected,” said Anderson. “It’s a family. There’s always animosity. People that you love you don’t always like, and there’s always going to be that. But when you’re celebrating who you truly are, you forget about all that and just get on with meeting each other and seeing each other, and it’s just one of those things. It’s not a problem; We’ll just get together and have fun. Music is a healing force on every level.”

Along with Yes, Pearl Jam, Journey, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, and Tupac Shakur were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The 2017 ceremony also includes Nile Rodgers of Chic receiving the Award For Musical Excellence.

Anderson was AMAZING. I LOVED YES when I was in high school in the early 70’s. Had every record and played them to death. Well, I haven’t payed attention to yes for about 40 years and was STUNNED by how great Jon sang. Most vocalists lose quite a bit of their vocal range, and vibrato because they just don’t have the strength of their youth or partied too much. Mr Anderson has not lost anything and his pitch was fairly good live. AMAZING and I’m so happy to see YES is still great.

I think it was done as 'homage' to the old days. He had so many keyboards back then because I think the early synths could not play chords so you needed a synth for each note of a chord.
@cdentand
@cdentand 6 лет назад
That's worth checking. There were multivoice analog synths in the late 1970s, yet they were murderously expensive. Another obvious reason was the necessity to switch instantly from one on sound setting on one keyboard to another sound on another keyboard. These synths could not store any of their settings in memory. This became possible only in the 1980s.

Yeah like totally dude. You see man I had to call Cheech about that one, but Chong answered the phone, and do you know what he said man? He said, "no man he really sings low but he just wants to make you think he's sings high. Don't you get it man? DON'T YOU GET IT? It's all a part of THE MAN'S CONSPIRACY! They just want to make you THINK he sings high!" Whatever that means DUDE! :-)

Jon Anderson is amazing. It's like his voice hasn't aged. Geddy is wonderful too. An obvious Yes fan; totally true to the spirit of Yes.

Tom Keenan Jon Anderson is hands down the best singer in the business. The ONLY alto range in the role of frontman and he is an accomplished harpist,as well ie."Awaken"!In the early days when Jon still had his Scottish brogue "Time And A Word","Survival",etc.With his partner Chris taking the soprano range;those 2 voices harmonizing 2gether,is the closest 2 Angelic we will ever hear.Jon Anderson is INDEED amazing!

There is no other player on Earth who can replace Chris Squire. Except for Geddy Lee.

Billy Sheehan, Jeff Berlin (filled in for squire literally with 24 hours notice) on yes tour, Stu hamm, will Lee, John pattitucci, victor wooten, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, And about 20,000 other bassists could. Not sure what you’re talking about.

Many of you have great thoughts on who but the honesty of it is from that time period and style Geddy was a friend and a great choice.. I have no doubt the others could of done a great job but nothing better than a long time friend , fan and incredible bass player for this performance.. We all could name 10-15 or more player qualified for the job but the benefits and show turned out more beneficial to the band and fans using Geddy and it was a very memorable performance.....
