Hanging out in another basement doing some splicing, my splicer has a case of the Mondays too. Helping out a customer with only options of docsis or dsl.
Ends with prepping another tray for a 8 unit apartment at the end of the PON.

OMG. I was in the basement of St. Sabina church here in Chicago, installing a wall mount and this video brought back memories. It was dark, dank, scary as hell. Nice install.

this place looked clean compared to some other wiring closets and basements...I just got a 4 port 2.5gbe switch and it also has 3 spf+ ports which is a nice touch for ws to nas connections - for 40 bucks you can't go wrong was my attitude - should future proof me for a while. i may set up a fog server? i did try out a few ids/ips but really you need a machine with 64gb ram even on a small network - i will get a newer refurb box box at some point and attend to that - 24/7 pkt cap is good thing and a possible thing for resale to smb clients - who doesn't want or need an audit trail and additional deep look into your network - setting it up with polar proxy/mitm box is also a good addition since then you can look at all the pkts. this video was standard look at daily job of network setup - good content

I have been looking at some of these switches that are coming out but the random speeds I think the standard 10/100/1/10/100 makes most sense. 2.5G or 5G ethernet seems to have no purpose I think having 1G ethernet should be a standard as ppl still have 1.5Mb connections. Have you looked into proxmox's backup server vs fog yet?

FS.com is nuts you cannot beat the price or the shipping. Buy a $3 fiber cable and cut it in half then you have 2 pigtails. But FS i think it's like 12 for $15 and i've never had a bad one.
