Filmed on a Yi 4K+ in 4k 60FPS. Will reserve judgment until I ride in better filming conditions and play around with the settings, but so far, I'm impressed.

That is a great camera---excellent resolution, exposure great and color saturation excellent despite the cloudy conditions!! That is a winner in my humble opinion!!

I usually watch vids in 720p so it doesnt freez even if there is 1080 or 4k available... thought id just make switch to 4k for the sake of this vid.... damnn it is good cant wait for a sunny day vid with it rj👍

There are more than 900 video’s on RJ’s channel. My guess is there are about 800 of RJ riding and commuting in and around London.

I'm talking more about just random raw riding clips. Most of the vids RJ posts are focusing on something that he saw and is not continuous footage.

That’s right, but it has to stay interesting. Most people are not interested in ‘boring’ footage. Great idea to give the competition a chance! I liked and believe competition is good. I use an SJCAM to motovlog, and it works...well the sound on the external mic could be better...but allows me to motovlogging without excessive investment. Merry Xmas RJ and all the subs

Looks great, even at 1080p. The details captured are much better than in your previous cam. I could see the markings on your tacho much better when compared to that in DO 213.

Ive been loving my Yi 4k for a good while now. This picture quality looks awesome. Only thing im not fond of is the audio, but i dont know your set up.. damn might have to update my Yi eventually. Go pro has been sooooo expensive lately, anx Yi and Sony have some nice options for a bit less.

Thank you for giving the competition a chance. I bought the yi 4k (the yi 4k+ hadn't come out yet) for a holiday as opposed to the gopro hero 5 because they were very comparable. But the yi 4k was significantly cheaper. Also it has replaceable batteries so I can just swap them out rather than having to charge the camera up in between recordings, great advantage when going for rides longer than 1.5 hours. Can you film in 4k 30 fps with stabalistation please?

If it does everything you need it is fine as the pic is great, I might get one when I eventually upgrade from the original GoPro Hero, I use my phone and a mic so audio is no issue for me.

Honestly quite impressive for the price point in comparison of the GoPro, obviously im not sure how the support and things like the app are, but from articles they do seem to update their products etc. Also never bad to have a listen to the sweet sounding BMW!

Lovely quality even with youtube's compression objecting to it, can see the detail increased even in lower end-resolutions. Some rendering issue with frame-timings in my Firefox Quantum install but that browser isn't quite ready for consumption in my opinion.

I don't know if you did anything to the s1000r Mr. RJ but it sounds much much better, really brutal(maybe its just the mic?) Anywaysm keep up the great work! I think the camera provides very high quality video.

RoyalJordanian - There are a lot of people out there, dedicated to write improved scripts for Xiaomi cams. Definetely worth checking out (especially custom firmwares).

Got a Hero5 black, Yi 4K, and Yi 4K+. The Hero6 is slightly better I believe, if you don't mind the price tag. I'm not buying it yet because there's no live preview on smartphones when filming in HEVC. The good thing with YI, after the cheap price, is that they release updates on a higher frequency.

Watch the video from my GS8+ in FHD+ and in WQHD+ and honestly the image quality is very good, very sharp with a lot of detail. A very good camera

So much for 4K - my ADSL broadband can't even touch it for more than 5 secs at a time. It is nice and crisp though. Oh well back to 720. Thanks RJ.

one thing that stood out to me was the angle and orientation of the camera... unlike previous videos which had the camera angled parallel to the ground. also its a lot shakier than the gopro!

Honestly... watching on an Oled display both 1440p and 1080p60 look amazing... its bang on. Is it waterproof tho or does it have a protection case? More S1000r videos 🙈

compared to the usual footage I felt it had a lot image stabilisation and the panning gave immense motion blurring.

Previous footage was smother, better stabilisation. This, which being quite sharp, made me feel sick with the movement. It also seems to have more of a wide screen fisheye effect at the edges...

Looks good in 4K even though I don't have a 4K monitor. I was also interested in this but decided not to buy since my camera still works, also maybe later there will be a better version with longer battery life

I noticed a small distortion or blur. The overall quality is pretty good but if you'll look closely on the backdoors of the cars, you'll see what I'm talking about.

....my laptop can't handle the video playback !...so is there any need for ultra high quality videos while riding a bike quickly around the 'Streets of London' ? Drone filming would benefit from using a good camera, and spy satellites...but not much else.

I was a bit skeptical about the quality in the beginning, but as soon as the sunday camera though a little bit i saw the true quality. Overal not bad, most People won't see any difference when the lighting is there, but gopro just handels low Light envoirements real good.

I think the resolution is quite good. The camera picks up more fine detail and micro-contrasts and it appears sharper than your GoPro footage. However, it over compresses data to the point where the image has compression artifacts causing image depth or a 3D quality to be lacking. GoPros pro-tune looks excellent but I’m sure you don’t want to color correct or store all of that data.

Image stabilisation isn't on par to GoPro I think, but quality of image is better. Difficult one as I am now seasick!

Curious what battery life is like at 1080p 60fps and 4k 60. My first gen Yi 1080p 60fps lasts about an hour and a half.

Hey RJ, Hey Community, anyone got suggestions/experience with good equipment for the YI 4k/4k+ ? a waterproof case would be the most important object the comments and reviews on some sets placed at amazon are going from "very good" to "worst quality seen" that makes the decision pretty hard thanks to everyone that can help !

actually a good camera. It's adding a bit of motionblure instead of being hard pixels :) the colors is good to. Seems like a camera I would purchase :)

Nice video, you can try with EIS on at 4K/30fps, then you're going to get the great quality and more stable footage!

RJ, are you using an external mic to record this footage or is the sound going into the cameras internal mic as its sounds glorious? Lots of priase for this particular camera in its resolution quality, features, image stability and price but lots of reviews complain about the poor sound quality of the internal mic! How did you find the sound quality for motorbike vlogging?

The sound is from an external sound recorder. Never used any mics connected to any camera.
