Hey friends, I'm back with a new Yin Yoga class all about the meridians! This one is focusing on two upper body meridians, the heart and lungs.
This 45 minute Yin Yoga class will release tension and stiffness in your upper body. The poses will target the chest, upper back, arms and shoulders. You'll need two blocks for this practice!
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints. Although your muscles will also be stretched, that is not the focus of the practice. It is best to practice yin yoga while your muscles are cold and NOT warmed up, even if that sounds counter intuitive. The reason we do this is so that we can send the "stress" and the "Stretch" to the connective tissues. If the muscles are warm they will steal the focus away from the joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga! Blocks, bolsters and straps are all great ways to support your body to make sure you are respecting your edge and not going too far.

I started Yoga 7 Years ago, with a program called Yoga for Men... Today I am doing women only Yoga classes... I have to say, I feel like this is exactly what I need. I already have too much Yang Energy collected in my body and after 7 years, I notice that I really need to balance that in order to use it. Perfect program Kassandra! You are an Angel that came from the sky to rescue me and finally find balance. Thank you and Namaste

thank you Kassandra for this wonderful practice. I am 80 and I practice with you often with such gratitude. I am experiencing tension in my family and my shoulders have been so tight. This practice really allerted me to how much I need to do gentle stretching with yin to bring some comfort to these tight areas. and Heal. Namaste'

This was amazing! I was dealing with some residual pain from a gallbladder attack and this helped me feel comfortable again in my body. It eased my anxiety and my pain. I felt like crying happy tears after. Thank you so so much!

I've done this routine several times, and after finishing it, the whole right side of my body feels like it's been activated. There's some tingling and heat, too.

Hi Kassandra, you are a treu healer!!! I'll def get your Yoga remedies bundle :) I've got a nasty bronchitis, and the coughing is so strong that my whole upper body is tense, I feel so much better now and I can also breath better!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a million for this class, for your kindness, for your work and for your attention!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. could you please create a class or a short sequence to target the diaphragm? Mine is very tense, so things aren't flowing so well with me at the moment.

I thought I activated my heart chakra about a year ago, but turns out it was a false alarm. 😅 Anyway, I activated it for real a little over a month ago. I can’t pinpoint the moment, but for a couple of weeks, I felt such an immense surge of energy, that I pretty much did the bare minimum in my life for that period. I couldn’t even do yoga for that time period. It was as if I was cathartic, but in a positive way. That’s the best way I can describe it. This is the first time I’ve performed that routine since then. I can feel the stretches more deeply, as well as tension in the areas you covered. I used to be numb to that area, as well as most of my body. Now, my chest feels clear and light. After three years of regular hatha and yin yoga practice. Still got the root chakra to activate.

I have fibromyalgia (chronic pain) across my left scapula and I came to this practice this morning because the pain was preventing me from sleeping. It felt so much better afterwards, like I'd had a massage on the inside! I think yin is a really good style for fibro because the holding of the poses isn't dissimilar to the stretches physiotherapists prescribe. Will definitely come back to this practice next time I need 'fixing!'. Thank you xxx

This was an exceptional class! I always feel so incredible after Yin Yoga. The only issue I had was the cross arm bow pose on our stomachs. My lower arm kept falling asleep.

Loved this one! I’ll have to look on your page for a lower back one. I often find that my body aches after a days work (standing most of the day) I hope regular yin yoga practice will help. It at least is a mindful way to start my day :)
