Just want everyone to know, that I hit a deadlift PR today Been injured the past month and finally started feeling better last week, decided to test max and got up 315!! I’m 6’4 btw, deadlift has always been a weak point for me too! Hard work pays off brothers! Get after it.
I like how these guys take time to train Larry. Larry him self puts forth great effort. In strong man event's you for sure endure pain... I'm not a pro or anything. I just train at home. But for carrying heavy odd shaped equipment I imagine I'm saving my wife and if I drop it I failed. That works for me
Also I don't think there's anything safe about safety bar squats. Bailing seems like it would be way hard the way the bars cross both sides of your neck and the way the bar is shaped/weight is distributed.
@@GamersOnTheStorm yeah that might help him. he's getting faster bare footed but in shoes his confidence seems to be way down. Thor trains in his gear all the time.
Totally agree. I'm so happy the camera man / editor is doing nice calm camera work with no annoying music or edits. Just raw footage with necessary cuts
It's physics, Larry. You start with small steps because the yoke weight doesn't have forward inertia to help you. As the weight accelerates, you can take larger steps because the forward inertia of the weight will lessen the forces that would pull you off balance. Short steps to accelerate, longer steps as it speeds up.
I'm just glad that Larry's editor doesn't use that semi-metal/techno/emo music that plagues so many lifting channels. I want to see lifting, and if I'm going to get music, it better be real metal or old-school hip-hop. But I prefer just raw training footage like we get here. Well done.
It would be cool to see larry lift some of the famous natural stones located all throughout iceland. If you haven’t seen it watch the third episode of strongland on netflix. It is about the history of icelandic strength and shows alot of the famous stones where the history of lifting them goes back 100s of years.
They have these stones all over Scotland, too. They also have a lot of history that goes with them. Luke and Tom Stoltman were in a video lifting a few of them.
Try standing in your runners stands when picking up the yoke. Because u stand pretty wide and when try to brinf your foot inwords you sway from left to right a lot in the beginning
Agreed! Larry's start looks very slow due to a wide starting stance, he lifts the weight up, then adjusts inward to set his feet for the walk. If he can start at his walking width and get used to just picking it up and going, he will be much faster off the start. Glad you said this RTProductions.
Call me crazy.. but everytime im at the gym and doing my set..thinking i cant do another rep..im thinking about larry screaming at me "powaaah" and im pushing the weight again for 2-3 reps. thx larry for the motivation :D #powaaaaah
it feels like Larry is getting a little frustrated sometimes. It´s difficult to learn new skills and putting the ego aside. You´re doing good Larry, keep up the good work.
Larry’s awesome but he really needs some yoga his flexibility compared to a 450 pound monster next to him is very low also I know he loves his physique but he needs a bit of a gut lol
@Mugwort Wrestlers are typically always sub 300lbs, it's also all choreographed. You do realize the person being thrown jumps as it happens right? It's highly assisted.
@Mugwort Regardless of their weight, the guy being lifted, HEAVILY assists the guy lifting him, by literally grabbing his trunks and jumping up and the guy uses that momentum to complete the lift. There were only a few guys strong enough to man handle guys and press them overhead. The Ultimate Warrior comes to mind and later Goldberg.
Thor is the best Strongman, possibly ever, however he's not great at explaining technique, there's only one man who can help him, cue Back to the Future theme tune.... Martiiiiinsss!!!!
This exactly. Martins is closer to Larry's size. Thor is just so unbelievably large and strong that he can get away with a lot of things a more normal sized human can't. Add in the language barrier, and I'm really hoping Larry goes to Martins for finishing school. Won't give up on my dream of a Wheels/Shaw collab, though
@Anal Creampie Just because Thor is strong and incredibly helpful doesn't mean he's the best coach. Larry can learn a ton just from watching him alone, but some additional technical coaching will help too.
Larry must be a verbal learner. Not a visual learner: He can’t duplicate what thor does. Not a kinesthetic learner, he has the object resting on his hands vs forearms and can’t tell what’s wrong when he holds it on his chest. Been noticing this. He keeps wanting a good explanation from thor, but thors english isn’t the best and he also can’t describe that well. Thor is probably a visual and kinesthetic learner. 28:00
Shaw just went stone shopping the other day. He got one weighing 442, will be fun to watch him play with his new toy as well. Competition at the Arnold is going to be wild, can't wait!
Scott 300 shaw has the advantage because of them short Legs and stubby Arms, but the current world's strongest man with the trophy is ICELAND'S MIGHTY THOR.
@@matt7iron What? Shaw's 6'6"-6'7" (6'8" in basketball shoes). His legs are not short and his arms are not stubby. I'm sure you're just trolling, but if not, educate yourself.
If you look at how he lifts the frame during the yoke walk he starts with his legs pretty far apart (I think this is from how he has a relatively wide stance from the squat) and during the first couple of steps, which are the slowest, he gradually brings his legs together as for a normal walking position. This means that since the wider stance, you cover less distance forward with each step. Maybe a good idea would be to try to start the yoke with his legs closer together during the initial lift to get the frame of the ground. Just my thoughts as a nobody who lifts a couple of days a week to stay in shape, this is only ment as constructive critism! ^_^ Love the videos! Going for legs tomorow (PR incoming?!)
Larry why don't you try setup a timer so you can see if you're making progress or not on the yoke walk... Then you can see if your adjustments are making or losing time
dude larry is the new arnold...hes constantly showing dedication.hes done it all all competitions.hes enjoyable to watch even if you arent in the whole gym scene
