Thanks for sharing! A bit of 411 for those considering purchase: -Same model available through AliExpress, sold by "Yong Heng Shop Store" for $100 cheaper, if you figure in shipping not mentioned...received 13 days after placing order, in perfect condition. Well packaged and ease of communication/tracking. You do have to register for tracking & status info. -The "tampon" filter element does actually filter/retain water (should replace every 30 min run time). I've added a second identical filter/hose assembly for $21, which I fill with 13x micro sieve desiccant ($24)...I switch tampon & replace desiccant every other tank fill for about 25 cents cost. -To clarify, the "other " bleeder knob is to bleed air/water from 1st stage air chamber -To clarify, the burst disc fitting is actually in the 2nd stage air chamber rather than 1st, as indicated -A good practice during run time is to crack bleeders every 5 to 10 minutes to expel condensation -A good practice is to open both bleeders before switching on, then close after startup and reverse process on shut off to avoid compression load on motor and components. Kinda like starting your car in gear...no Bueno. -A good practice is to change the hydraulic fluid after, say about 1st 40 minute run time or one tank top off..."break in period". I don't assume this is done at manufacturer. -For maximum cooling, do not recirculate water to bucket. I leave my discharge hose out of the bucket and let the shop sink faucet fill to maintain or exceed level. I have never had head temperature over 43 degrees/20 minute run time using this method...it works better than ice and less hassle. -Fills 97 cf tank from 2800 to 4500 in 42 minute run time excluding (2) 15 minute rests. -With a little research and book marks, I found all replacement/rebuild components available for dirt cheap. For example, $41 for a complete 1st and 2nd stage cylinder/piston/head/connecting rod/rings/seals assembly.

Air Velocity Sport can you tell me 1) how it has held up to date? 2) Can it fill to 4500psi? ...because you say you fill to only 41-4200psi. 3) any issue running it in reg. avg u.s. household outlet? Thanks in advance

I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid for aluminum motors Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside, dissolve the aluminum Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion engine, it is just the same. The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor, you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor, it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor. I hope you then gets as happy as i do Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and cooling performance of the compressor head greatly

I have owned one of these for almost two years now. Still working fine. Have the Brancato air filter. Joe is an engineer and he knows what he is talking about. I have stopped using the recommended hydraulic oil in the Yong Heng and am now using Royal Purple air pump oil. The noise the pump makes quieted down and the temperature also dropped by over 20C.

@Air Velocity Sport - As an FYI, I bought two of the SCBA Fill Stations/fill probes from China and found an issue with both that needed to be addressed. Within a week of using one of the units the pressure gauge would not go back to zero after releasing pressure. It would only reset back to 500psi. While replacing the gauge I noticed bits of burred metal shavings and after closer inspection found that the fitting the CGA347, the gauge, and the whip attaches to was semi-blocked with more burred metal shavings.Additionally, I unscrewed the pressure release valve and found even more metal pressed into the nylon / teflon tip. I then took apart the second SCBA Fill Station/fill probe and found the same mess except my pressure gauge had not been affected yet. So I cleaned everything up and used a bass-side "E" string from an acoustic guitar to clear all passages in both Fill Stations/fill probes and then compressed air to blow everything out and reassembled. I don't know yet if any metal made it's way to the SCBA tank or guns. Anyway, just a heads up. Also, while I'm thinking about it, the reason I bought two units was to use one for filling the tank - same as you do, and the other for filling the guns. However, I removed the hose on the one I use for filling the tank and installed a "one-way" 1/8 NPT male fill nipple for $10 ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSBDGIM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). This eliminates having to manually equalize the pressure between the pump and the tank before filling the tank and it works great. Take care.

Hi I’ve currently upgraded my crosman to except paintball bottles now, I got a 22cu. In. 3000psi input and regulated at 2200psi output from jdsairman.com I do use the MK4 Hills pump to fill the bottle, but boy it’s a bitch to fill from 0 - 3000psi by hand. I also read some great reviews on that compressor; I think that’s the way to go. Thanks for another great video.

I didn’t read all the other comments so someone may have touched on this. I have the Omaga air charger. If you open the bleed valve on the compressor about every 10 min and let a blast out most of the water comes out befor it reaches the tank. As the air cools the water condenses. As the air goes from the thin tube to the bigger chamber where the Bleed valve is located. It cools and condenses for the first time. That is why the bleed valve is below the air hose connection. So you can open it occasionally while filling is in process to a evacuate the water. Hope this helps. I wish I would have bought that one instead of the 1,300 on the Omaga. Great video.

I rent a 505 cubic foot nitrogen tank from airgas for 92 dollars a year and 48 dollars a fill. Its at 6000psi when full so I get about a year of heavy shooting out of a fill. The nitrogen is moisture free, and there is absolutely zero maintenance! Even better they deliver it to my house for 16 dollars. The only drawback is the tank valve can be a little tricky on some so you need a slow fill foster fitting or a regulator. But if you do the math with the moisture and dangers of acid from filter media yada yada yada.
@cecilledbetter3286
@cecilledbetter3286 6 лет назад
I considered going with the nitrogen to fill my air rifles and talked with several gas supply stores in my area. They were very helpful to start with and was going to deliver the bottle. However when I told them I was going to use in in air guns that all changed. All of a sudden they would not deliver anymore and the paper work they wanted me to fill out was unbelievable, you would have thought I was applying for an FFL. Needless to say I went another route. I bought a SCBA tank and for a while was getting it filled at the fire station. Then that stopped so I bought one of these Yong Heng compressors. No problem at first, but recently the compressor popped and leaked air badly. I changed the burst disk several times before finding that the air fill hose had stopped up apparently collapsed inside. Everything is ok for now but I am out of burst disk, waiting on an order to be shipped

I want to say you have a good video very thorough . I own the same air compressor that you do . I will eventually get the Diablo filter from airguns of Arizona . I do the same thing as you do to help with the water moisture . It's made in China just like the air Venturi is. It's a lot of the same component parts it just has one piston not two like the air Venturi . I have the big 98 CC carbon fiber tank from Air Venturi , when I feel it from 3500 PSI to 4700 PSI it takes around 25 minutes. For anyone that's looking and easy way to fill their tanks at an affordable price this is the way to go .

Question - is the valve between the little black Yong Heng filter and the gold Tuxing filter NECESSARY? Like is that something you MUST do in order for it to be safe? What about the valve between the gold Tuxing filter and the scba tank, is that absolutely necessary also?

I wouldn't recommend using ice in the water bucket to help with cooling. Here is my reasoning for why: As I am sure you are aware metal will expand and contract when the temperature is changed and if the change is too aggressive it can even crack like putting a hot glass in cold water. When pumping ice cold water through the cylinder head the cold water is going to cause the metal to want to contract. The piston on the other hand is going to be generating a lot of heat due to friction and want to expand. If the cylinder contracts or gets smaller and the piston expands or gets larger this is going to create more friction on the cylinder walls and possibly cause compression issues down the road. Although the pump does run hot it really shouldn't be an issue as long as the water flow continues. If you are concerned about the water temperature just use a larger source of water but I would definitely avoid sudden temperature changes in the middle of a pumping cycle. Just a perspective to consider. Thanks for taking the time to make a review video!
@AirVelocitySport
@AirVelocitySport 5 лет назад
Thank you Anthony. That makes sense to me. Before starting my pump I run cold water for a few minutes while I set things up then drop a block of ice about a square foot into a 5 gallon bucket and start the pump immediately. As the temp of the top cylinder trys to rise it's gradually offset by the metaling ice my temp stays around 35 to 45C. What do thing about using coolant? Many people have asked me.
@Technie87
@Technie87 Год назад
Just let the pump with ice run for 5 seconds then start the compressor. It'll offset any contraction/expansion

temp sensor is just sitting in the block aluminum (or stainless steal if it's not aluminum). I guess it could thread into the block instead of just resting in there, but it's not all that strange that it just sits in there loose like that. It's detecting the temperature of the compression body material, once it overheats, it will cut off the power most likely saving the life of your compressor for another day.

i recently welded a compartment on the side and added a resovior and i used a radiator for a water cooled cpu and ran 2 120 mm fans putting out the side of the box and used a inline pump (also for a water cooled computer) and all the fittings and lines have been redone with 1/4 hydraulic hose with crimped an fittings so everything is more reliable. if you want to do this basically just look up how to water cool a pc and pretend the cylinder on your compressor is the cpu block. also alot of napa auto parts can crimp you hydraulic hoses if you decide to go that route but just regular line and clamps work to

Yes you are correct about your selected tanks. My concern is for the well being of the public unawares of using SCUBA tanks as you mentioned having a dive shop filling your tank. Also, if the dive shop is honest and they are checking the tanks for certification and your tank does not have one - no fill. Be safe and do not try shortcuts.

Now, I know they are good lil' fill whips and well worth the $40-$50 bucks... *HOWEVER, Im just wanting to know... Are they REAL "Micro-Bore" hoses??? Or are they just "REGULAR" fill hoses??? ...Cause see i was thinking of buying just one of the 36" hoses by itself for something i need a "Micro-Bore" hose specifically for, and i would love to save the money by buying one of theirs but id hate to get it, only to find its not really a true "small ID Micro-Bore" and then still have to go and buy another one. Lol They say it is when i ask but i have the feeling whomever i was talking to didnt even really know what a Micro-Bore hose really was lol So i thought id better ask you first since you have one. I agree with huntjunky1, I use the same method, I have a similar compressor for over a year now, one thing, if starts not filling up to the desire pressure or not passing above certain pressure, it is just the second stage "brown rings" that have to be changed, sure you see on the spare parts sent with it, also you can buy for very cheap a packet of 10 for replacement in the future. That only happened to my after lots of hours of use, after a year. I suggest o put a extra water trap/desiccant to avoid getting on your gun/bottle. These compressor are very easy to maintain, repair, once you learn how they works, very simple and plenty parts available for cheap. Nice review!!

I am a multi college degree manufacturing expert, (tons of machining exp in the field), who has been pissed off about communist products since the 80's, and have yet to find any product from china that holds up to good quality and engineering standards, unless it is as simple as a broomstick. If you fill two big bottles a week, my money says this thing does not last 6 months. It is too complicated and too cheap, (not just price). If anybody has one, uses it weekly, and working fine after 6 months, you should win a million dollars from the commie company. That is the lottery you are playing, as we fill up our land fills 4 times as fast with junk. Do I sound too opinionated? 30 plus years of junk will do that to a man. :)
@AirVelocitySport
@AirVelocitySport 5 лет назад
Yes, i agree that these compressors are not built to the higher standard that we Americans do. That being said it comes down to first to safety and then cost. At this point my Cooper union biochemical engineer friend has assured me that the components that retain the high pressure will be safe to 2x the working pressure of 300bar or 4250 psi. For me at least, it comes down to cost and maintenance. I ran my pump for a year and 3 months before the upper Piston failed. I fill on average one bottle a week from 3000psi to 4250psi. It starts off taking 11 minutes to top off and toward the end of the high pressure Piston orings life it will take 20 minutes. Clearly the rings have worn too much. The solution is $55 for a replacement of the upper Piston andnhousing. I also clean the oil out if the high side aluminum block and change check valve orings. That's still way cheaper and cost effective than spending $1300 to $5000 for ammuch better compressor that still needs maintenance. I basically get the job done at 1/3 of the cost?

Turning the tank upside down and opening the valve does not evacuate water. There is a tube inside under the valve so unless you have a ton of water it will become trapped behind the tube when turned upside down.

alot people are claiming that in appox 5 years we will start seeing carbon HPA tanks start to fail because people are using crappy air filtration, oil & water separators. since so many people can fill from home... I had my two carbon fiber tanks visually inspected at year two with no signs of pitting on the aluminum inner tanks. I was worried about water. My scuba shop said that he would not fill my tanks because of the smell of hydraulic oil which could possibly backup into his very expense compressor and filter system even with his check valves he would not take a chance since divers air quality has to be top notch. I will take it back to him next year as that will be the 4 year I have had my two tanks for a visual.

Water is from humidity in the air being compressed. Oil would be from a bad O ring on your first stage piston. Or the wrong oil. Not all hydraulic oil is the same. Make sure you are using good 4600 hydraulic oil. Not hydraulic oil for hydrostatic drives, power steering, or brakes. 4600 hydraulic oil has the highest flash point, and is designed for extreme high pressure use.

They were selling for $282 free shipping so I offered $275 and they accepted. When it showed up I unpacked it to find out that it was a Young Heng...I was pleased and it works great. My only problem I had was with putting the CGA347 fill adapter together. I bought Parts from Amazon and ebay only to find out I didn't pay attention to the Threads. So going from 3300 PSI down to whatever PSI it's at after 60 regulated shots, and then fill up again to 3300 PSI? I'm completely new to PCPs and I don't plan to use a hand pump to fill 230 bar of pressure. Thank you for any input.

Rogue-Spear I don't know but from my experience I will venture to guess that a 90ci 4500psi buddy bottle will top off a fx streamline from 2100 psi to 3300psi anywhere from 4 to 7 times. The streamline is 190cc or 11.6 ci . I fill 13ci Ninja bottle often so that what I'm basing it on.I would be curious to know myself as I'm thinking about getting one of those 90ci to carry around. .

I ordered the same SCBA Fill Station off of eBay from China but haven't received it yet. However, my question to you is this: Can you simply use a Quick Disconnect Double Male fitting between the compressor hose and the SCBA Fill Station hose to connect the two together when filling the tank as opposed to changing to the CGA347 fittings that you made? With the exception of the longer travel for the air to move through the two hoses is there any other reason or issues you were trying to address? Does the SCBA Fill Station from China have some kind of check valve or other restriction to prevent air from flowing in reverse to fill the tank? Thanks in advance.

Dollar Projects not sure if it's meant to run that long but I would recommend running it 30 minutes with a 15 minute cool down. I'm more concerned with the bearing-less crank that the rings on the piston. If it had a ball bearing ring on the crank arm I think it could run longer. But metal on metal even with the #46 hydrolic oil will eventually wear.

My first went for over two years before I broke the top Piston. Not the fault of the Yong Heng but it was my fault. I used it very often. It would be a safe to say I used it at least once every other week. Each time I used it was to top off my two 88cu ft tanks from 3000 to 4200 psi about 12 minutes for each tank. My second compressor is going strong almost a year now. I very happy with this compressor but it's not trouble free. Just minor issues like orings and small leak in the hose. Fixed easily.

The smell is from the hydraulic oil. Oil blow by will reduce after break in. Do not use regular air compressor oil, not even the synthetic. Under these high pressures it can ignite, causing an explosion! Smell can be reduced and wear on internal O rings by adding a drop of pure 100% silicone oil to the air intake on the compressor. This will cause the cotton filter to get wet and dirty quicker too. Do change the hydraulic oil frequently. It is not as good of a lubircant as oil, but oil will explode. 100% silicone oil would work better, but figure $18.00/oz. And you still need to change it just as often to remove dirt and metal particles from wear. I use a water trap, fallowed by a cotton filter/desiccant filter, then the whip. I put a female fitting on the filter where the whip came, and a female fitting on the end of the whip. Now I can use the little cotton filter that came with the pump when I fill from the compressor, or from tank to gun, and with my Hill hand pump. Cotton filters not only catch dirt. They absorb water, oil (silicone, or hydraulic). A drop of silicone oil (only 100% pure silicone oil) in the fill port on your gun will help prevent O rings from drying out, and lubes internal parts. Most of the time it can fix slow leak downs too.

Yes it can. It's a good idea to run this compressor for no more than 20 minutes at a time. If you have a good cooling source that can keep the temperature below 49C then you can run it longer. I use a solid block of ice in my 5 gallon bucket which keeps the water cold for about 30 minutes.

Hi , Thank you for the video. When I used to take my Tank to the gun shop to get it filled,,He used to put the AIR TANK in a large tank of water.?.. He has since retired and sold the shop and all his stock,So getting my tank filled,it would probably have to go to a Dive shop,or,, People who deal with fire extinguishers.. Colin.UK.
@AirVelocitySport
@AirVelocitySport 3 года назад
No my tank does not get hot especially when you're topping off from 3,000 to 4000 very slowly. It is possible that he tops it off very quickly which will create heat in the tank but I also suspect that he places it in water in the event of a rupture. it probably serves two purposes one to keep the tank cool and the second is in case of catastrophe. Because you will be feeling very slowly you do not need to worry about heat buildup.

Great video. As someone who has pumped high pressure air for over twenty years for Scuba diving, I thought I would inform you of a few things. - The second valve you didn't know what it does is probably a water separator dump valve. - Your SCBA tank valve probably has a "dip tube" or "snorkel tube", so holding the tank upside down may not remove all the water. I would highly recomend a descicant filter to absorb water. - You should be very careful of high pressure air hoses, they can move at super sonic speeds if they fail. Just trying to be helpful.
@AirVelocitySport
@AirVelocitySport 7 лет назад
Glenn McFland thank you for the insight. Usually open both bleed valves after filling. I have noticed a few drops of water from that second lower bleed valve. Thanks. How can we protect ourselves from those hoses that may fail and move at supersonic speeds? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@GlennMcFarland
@GlennMcFarland 7 лет назад
Air Velocity Sport I would open the water trap valve first to allow the air to push the water out. On larger systems, a water trap would be opened several times during the pumping process. As far as the hose, distance is your friend. Keeping the hose short is a good idea. There are "tethered" or "sheilded" hoses, but they are really expensive. You seem to be well informed and my goal is to add to your knowledge base and keep people safe.. Open the water trap valve first and see if you can add some descicant inside that little filter. This might work to control water vapor. Allowing water into the cylinder isn't good. High pressure air is deceptively dangerous, please stress that to your viewers.
@RoundTripSpirit
@RoundTripSpirit 7 лет назад
@ Air Velocity Sport - I've tried a couple of methods to help protect myself from the potential death-blow of an air hose. One method I've tried is to use an old sock or two as a protective tube covering the quick connect fittings and then use a zip tie on each end of the sock. In this manner the sock prevents the hose from whipping around too much if something gives. Although it can still jump around to some minor degree. Another method I've tried is to use velcro straps in conjunction with a small stationary square of plywood with pre-drilled holes to secure the hoses just behind the hose connection fittings on both sides (or ends). This method is by far more secure but is a little more cumbersome.
@GlennMcFarland
@GlennMcFarland 7 лет назад
The important thing to remember is that not all hoses and fittings are created equal. Think hydraulic, not plumbing. Fittings from Home Depot won't work. Companies like Parker, Swadgelock, and Western Safety are good resources.

I wanted to share this with you in case you or others had not seen it, and if so if you had any opinon or information on its quality. You are probably aware, but I just saw it today and thought you might find it usefull, and thought I would take a chance that there might be one thing you don't know about airguns. :-) This is a 12V 300 BAR, portable, vehicle mounted compressor. This compressor does not require oil, and even better, it does not require water. From what I gather they can do this because they use a high-pressure piston ring made out of high grade aluminum, rather than rubber, which is what the water cooled compressors use to my understanding. They also have a cooling jacket 360 degrees around all the cylinders, which combats the heat. They basically took the cooling system of a combustion engine and made a bore bridge between the first and second cylinders which runs the circumfrence of all the cylinders. It's pretty ingenious. Although it can pump to 300 BAR, they recommend stopping at 250 BAR to prolong the piston ring cylinder and seals. Anyway, appreciate any input you folks might have about this compressor. www.1ct1c.com/product/no-4-generation-vehicle-mounted-12v-300bar-compressor/
