Unboxing and detailed install video of the Yoshimura Alpha 3/4 exhaust system on my 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R bike. New camera is the Sony a6400 with Sigma 16mm 1.4 prime lens
Yeah dude this is a awesome video. Haters will say its boring. I think step by step video and not cutting out the video every couple seconds is so awesome to see. I can now do this swap myself. I appreciate the video
Thanks for recording your install. Really sped things up here. I almost fell over when I revved it. It sounds so good! Video doesn't do it justice. Much respect.
I love the way mine sounds, I have the exact bike and put the same exhaust on. Fell in love with it instantly especially on the highway, good video bro hope you enjoyed yours.
great video, helped me out alot... I installed the Alpha exhaust today on my 2020 zx6r... its so much louder than i thought! (maybe too loud, i might install the baffle) at some point the servo swiveled, so the mechnism wasnt able to turn.. which triggered the check engine light... get a servo buddy!
thank you, I ordered a two brothers black series and I have the same bike I have to install it on. I'll definitely be using this video as a guide to do so.
I didn't scroll through all the comments but I wanted to offer a bit of info. The muffler installs behind the rear peg mount, not in front of it. it looks as though you installed it on the outside of the passenger peg instead of behind it. Just an FYI to the viewers. I can say even after installation of the servo plates mine threw a code anyway. Also just an FYI. I ordered a servo buddy. Otherwise, great video and thank you for posting!
Another great video! Just curious why you didn't go with Akrapovic? I like the look and sound of the Yoshi, but I wanted to know if you had other reasons, maybe something I didn't know about?
I've got the same bike, same color and exhaust. I'll never sell it. Such an amazing 636cc machine. The only other bike I want is a s1000rr and a Ducati Monster or Diavel. Anyways, the Yoshimura is one hell of a pipe. I looked at all of them...Graves, M4 Street Slayer, Akrapovic, Austin Racing, SC Project, two brothers etc... but I wanted a classic Japanese exhaust for this beast of a bike. It didn't turn as gold/bronze as I had hoped but it still looks great after 1400 miles with this exhaust. The carbon fiber is excellent quality and finish. The heat hasn't warped it at all. All in all a very fine exhaust system, muffler and mid pipe. I recommend a ServoBuddy so you can pull the servo motor and cables out of the seat area, it's unnecessary and the included servo mod is kind of janky
Spy vs. Spy Just curious, in your experience how common would you say warping/degrading issues are for exhaust cans with carbon fiber? I have a 2019 zx6r also but the base model all black bike. I’ve been considering a few different exhausts and pretty much have it narrowed down to either this Yoshi exhaust or the Austin Racing GP2, probably in titanium/carbon fiber. I emailed them a few times with some questions and asked if that was an issue with their carbon options. They said the GP2 is just a carbon fiber sleeve over titanium and has no issues with heat.
@@screennamenottaken2 The carbon fiber is very high quality. The best i've seen on an exhaust. Very durable and it has a nice tough gloss finish. I also looked at many other exhausts but I am very happy I chose the Yoshimura. Its very solid and high quality, its worth the price. In my opinion it's also the best sounding exhaust i've heard on the 2019 636
Followed this vid step by step. Thanks, this was amazing! I had an issue though, my servo motor wont stop turning after installing the servo blanking plate. No check engine light, exhaust was installed properly. I ordered a servo eliminator already but eta is 3 weeks. Any temporary recommendations?
Great video but to give you some extra room and less dead weight you can remove the entire servo unit. All you need to order is a very tiny part called a ServoBuddy that tricks the FI system in thinking a servo exist.
does installing only the muffler at the end simpler? i know it wont give the same result but i saw a couple of videos where people only remove the 2 spring and swap the end of the exhaust( the yoshi and carbon fiber end) and i was just wondering if you could of done that with that exhaust on this bike??
i have done the same thing to my zx6r 2019 but i also have cat delete the sound is so great and you can look at my video how its sound on dyno. have fun with the new yosi on your bick
I have a 2020 r3 and that servo motor shit is interesting lol.. glad I didn't have that. But I am trying to upgrade to a 2019 z6r so I imagine I'll fuck with it soon
just installed my yoshimura on my 636 and sounds great ! everything went smooth only question is , the stock gasket you re-used was it still attached when removed the old unit? i didn't see one when i took off.. just slid the piping through , explains maybe why it smoked a little when first turned it on? didn't after a second, third time. haven't ran the bike sounds good waiting on some fenders wraps if could please let me knw if install was done correctly! thanks bro
Question: I’m installing a M4 GP19 slip-on onto my 2021 ZX-6r and I’ll be eliminating the cat-converter along with adding the servo buddy. With that being said, is a flash needed? Does it ruin the bike in any way if I go without doing this? Lmk! Appreciate it!
If all you're doing is adding the exhaust, you don't need a flash or Power Commander V or something similar but it will help get the most out of your exhaust. You won't do any damage though - exhaust alone won't lean out the mixture enough to make a difference.
Two years later it’s 2021LOL I just bought actually got as a present the same bike as you and the same exhaust as you I followed your video step-by-step it worked out perfect I want to thank you for your detailed video however my check engine light is on and I’m curious to know why would set that off and what might fix that
Congrats on the bike! You installed the mechanism that tricks the servo to think the stock exhaust butterfly valve is still there? Have you put some miles on the bike to see if the code clears? If you did install correctly and have put some miles on the bike, easiest solution is to throw a servo buddy on there, I did a video on that too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5XwX5_wipOw.html good luck!
@@eastcoastish thank you so very much for getting back to me I do have a question can I still ride the bike with the light on until I get that item shipped to me?
@@AvaSara10 yes, shouldn't be a problem and honestly the code may clear on its own. Some of the codes just require x miles of non-code throwing to clear itself. Ride safe!
@@eastcoastish I just wanted to thank you so very much for all your help and advice I ordered the server buddy installed it and after about 100 miles the engine light went off it was kind of weird it didn’t work at first I was really upset but after about 100 miles it went off and has not come on again
I have the same exact bike, which model Yoshimura is this, sorry but I don't know much about it. Also I looked on ebay but it only shows the muffler, whereas you remove both sections, the muffler and the pipe under the bike, so I'm a little confused as to what I need to buy exactly. I loved your video though as I wanna do the exact same thing. Also is changing the servo a must?
You can buy it directly from Yoshimura: www.yoshimura-rd.com/products/kawasaki-zx-6r-2019-street-series-exhaust-14642cp520 This is the "three-quarter" exhaust as opposed to the "slip-on" which is just the muffler portion. You must either use the servo bracket that comes in the Yoshimura kit, or do the Servo Buddy which was much easier and cleaner: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5XwX5_wipOw.html
Did you take off the servo cables or did you leave them on?? If you took them off were they hard to take off and if you ended up going back to stock were the cables hard to put back on?
hey dude, i have not done the first service on my bike. do i need to wait for the first service before installinf the pipe? or can i just install it? thanks
eastcoastish thanks bro for your tutorial video i sucesfullu install my pipe, but i did not know the gasket is so soft so i crack mine when tightning the clamp.
Yes, I installed a Power Commander V and had it dyno tuned. It's not required but definitely gets the most out of the exhaust and helps shape the power curve.
What did you do with the Servo Cable? or the cable at the bottom where it was connected to the factory exhaust? Did you connect it to Yoshimura Alpha 3/4 exhaust? Did you get rid of it all together? It feels like that part was edited out. Thanks, great video. I appreciate this.
Hey I was wondering is it a yoshimura alpha t slip on? Is it the regular or the race one cause they have like 3 different ones and idk what’s different wise
eastcoastish oof thanks for the quick response I greatly appreciate it! And I’m most likely to get it real soon! But in the purchase order it did say yoshimura alpha t works slip on?
I just bought my Yoshi, besides the servo, is there anything else I will need to adj? My buddy is saying I will need a power command block or something like that. Basically it will be throwing codes if I don't get it.
The metal pieces that fool the ECU into thinking the exhaust valve is still there (which is included in the kit) is all you need. You won't be throwing any codes. I do recommend a power commander if you're looking to tune the bike, but everything should run fine without one.
You mean the pieces that came with the Yoshi kit? I've since switched to the Servo Buddy so I'm not using those pieces anymore. Drop me a line at kent@eastcoastish.com...
I’ve just ordered mine! Seen this video a few times so just rewatching to familiarise myself! With the servo cables did you just pull them out? Or hide behind the fairings
I live in Florida, am getting a brand new 2021 zx6r and I want to install this exhaust, do you think it’s way to loud ? Or if am going to have any loud noise ticket or problem or I should be good ????
Is the Yoshimura exhaust ridiculously loud or just a deeper grunt? This morning I put the M4 GP on my ZX6R and I feel it is way too loud, it screams even at idle. I even thought the stock exhaust was loud, but I mainly wanted the weight savingfs.
@@eastcoastish The same rpm, this is my first 600cc so maybe Im new to the loudness. But still, it is LOUD. Great sound, but just loud. Im somewhat concerned about my neighbors getting pissed but I guess I shouldn't care. Lol
eastcoastish after I saw your other video with the servo buddy I’m just gonna get that. Especially if I’m not going to need the servo once I change exhaust out.
There may be a problem with servo mechanism not opening /closing the valve correctly. Have you driven it around for a few miles to see if it goes away? I never got a check engine light, but I did end up installing a servo buddy which may solve your problem: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5XwX5_wipOw.html
I had installed same exhaust a year ago I thought everything sounded normal no power lagging no check engine light nth but I stopped by a local motorcycle shop they said am running on only 3 cylinder because of the exhaust and recommended me a power commander and new spark plugs. What are your thoughts on that?
@@eastcoastish umm that what I thought but the mechanic said that any recommendations what should I do now because scared to ride don’t wanna ruin my engine.
@@shashwotmotovlogssf4646 you need to find out why that one cylinder isn’t firing. New plugs are cheap, if it’s not the plugs you need to check compression and fuel injector. The exhaust is not the problem.
@@eastcoastish the mechanism that came with the kit. I think when I took the T25 bolt off I think the mechanism moved a little so when I put it on it wasn't lined up right?
No, if you put in the servo mechanism in the kit it tricks the ECM to think it still has the working valve. You can also use a Servo Buddy which I eventually switched to as well.
Whenever you twist on the throttle, that little valve motor under the passenger seat initially opens/closes the valve in the stock exhaust. Now that you have removed it and bypassed it, I'm curious to how it works every time you twist the throttle since now it looks like it's forcing itself to one side. Can you check it out and let me know if it looks like it will break down eventually??? Thanks in advanced!!
I only had the mechanical bypass on for a while, but I did not notice any issue with it at all - everything felt the same as before. I've since installed the Servo Buddy and have removed the motor and cabling - but again, from the throttle perspective, it all feels the same.
@@eastcoastish Ohh okay! And just realized they sell a servo buddy lol bet it gave you a ton of needed space underneath the backseat. Also, did you add a power commander after installing the slip on? If not, did you notice any loss of power in the low or mid range RPM's? Or any back fire at all?
How did you get the bolts of the pre chamber loose? Those bolts are very hard to unscrew. You made it look so easy. That's very misleading. If your going to make a how to install video, be honest and thorough with the details and challenges. Don't be misleading.
My bike was brand new so it could be that yours were harder to remove from the heat cycles it's gone through or something; mine weren't particularly hard to remove.
