Are you using Driftmotion's Digital CPS sensor? I was considering getting one since my research is suggesting the symptoms I'm experiencing with crank and no start conditions indicates a degrading cps sensor. For reference, my Supra is stock.

What year is your supra? I have one from 1990 and it uses a distributor, another question, do you have or where can I see a video on the calibration of the valves? I don't know much about the 7MGE but I'm guessing after the head gasket broke.
I just checked the timing on my Stock 7M-GTE... The timing is set (with E1 TE1 clipped) to 10 but there are times that I see it dropped to around 8. Without the clip, its right at 12 with a random drop to 10. The drop I am talking about its like a 5 blink to 1 (5:1) when it drops 2 degrees then goes back to normal. Is this Ok?
Hi. Great videos! Maybe you can help me. On an 86 Supra 3.0 liter I'm having a problem. I did a head gasket. It ran before taken apart. After put back together no start. Missing a spark. Anything I could have missed? A ground, a connector? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
I know the grounds are connected. I don't know how to get the codes out of it. I don't have an ODB1 reader.. By any chance do you know how to test the oms from the pickup coil? How do I know if a pickup coil is good? Or the igniter? What kind of signal or power do I look for in the igniter? Thanks for getting back to me.
I think at the point ignition timing is causing smoke, you'd have trouble keeping the engine running at all. If you have smoke, I would first suspect poor sealing pistons, valve stem seals, or turbo seals.
755hp In short, yes. Any significant advance in timing will make you more prone to knock. Whether you'd actually have problems with knock or not? I can't say. I've never messed with advancing timing significantly on the 7M. In a turbo motor there are lots of other things you can safely tweak to get a little more power.
hi i have 7mgte do i first reset the codes with the fuse then jump tei and ei turn on ignition start the engine and adjust the cps with a timing light thanks.
+Martin Castillo If you can, you should try to fix the root problem of your codes first. Some codes indicate problems that will make timing difficult. I dont think the codes themselves are going to be a problem so much as the actual problems causing the codes. In other words: I don't think clearing codes makes much difference when setting the timing.
+Martin Castillo The best way to pass emissions is to have a good running motor, first. Beyond that, "emissions" is a big topic with lots of potential solutions. I'd need a lot more info to even make an educated guess on your issue. Catalytic Converter is probably the biggest component, but there are lots of things that could cause various high emissions.
Never 0. Around 10 btdc with clip, an extra couple degrees (so 10-12) with clip removed. A couple degrees on either side of that should be fine. Doesn't have to be absolutely perfect.
YotaMD what clip is it you guys talking about , it my first 7mge not the turbo , I put everything at top dead and it started but rough af , adjusted the distributor and it got a bit better , took the distributor out and adjusted those marking on it now the bitch won’t turn on even with everything on tdc
