For those looking for what it does. The feature helps in sampling the multiple lights and scene more efficiently. In simple terms, turning it on will result in reduced noise in cost of higher render times. If the scene is indoor and feature multiple lights, then leave it on.

Also when rendering don’t forget to close the shaded preview mode in the viewport. I use the « rendering » tab to be sure to have a clean setup for efficient rendering.

I didn't find much time difference between light tree on or off but if I used CPU and GPU it was much quicker

@@AnilKumarThota I've tried this method out and it has sped up my render times! Thanks for making this video, honestly JZK. The only thing which I haven't done was turn on the noise threshold. As I'm using OptiX as the denoiser there's this...splotchy-ness in my renders making it look odd when I enable it. So, to get better results I've turned off the noise threshold and there isn't any splotchy-ness in my animations. But I have followed everything else you've showed and defo I see a difference in my render times!

Interesting, checking off the CPU render really boosts the render time, wonder why? I thought checking both on makes it take advantage of cpu and gpu together.

set the default scene and setting by clicking file>set default scene(I forgot the specific name) … Then after opening blender you’ll be set. But make sure to make the viewport and all view is what you prefer.

I checked it on my character scene I'm working on, it looks like as if an "AO" effect was turned off in a game at the edges of the room/furniture, it looks a bit more fake and lighter with slightly less shadows. I don't aim for photorealism so this will probably have it's place for me for animations, for photos I don't mind the 15-20% more render times for better results so far with this setting left on defaults.

Try to enable tiles 1024 and use CPU as well, maybe it will be even faster, also you can try to decrease Samples even more and disable denoise for important objects and materials with ID Mask.
