oh wow Creeer World! I just watched a video by InterndotGif - his first time playing, so odd to watch someone *not* drop cannons into creepe, *not* build all the mines at once. Made me want to watch some Angory Tom, see how it's supposed to be done. And here it is! awesome!
That would be quite lovely. Although, there's a new version of the LPAC-Vampire mod that I released today. Hopefully he plays the newer map rather than the original. Lots of little bugfixes, tweaks, and improvements based on community feedback. However, both versions of the mod are a lot of fun.
watching the upgrade points just get really high because tom refuses to upgrade stuff is the funniest part of this video. never change tom, never change
Oh wow, just when I think that modders have reached the peak of what this game can offer someone comes in swinging with super cool ideas! Hope they continue working on this pack, it rules
Yeah, I found the CPG was quite weak in terms of pull speed, it definitely works but it's a bit underwhelming, then again it does help and the play as creep version is way too strong. Strength was very important on it though, like super important, radius was good at iirc like 2-3 upgrades honestly but strength needed lots for it to feel ok.
0:40 When choosing between two upgrade factors, the best pick is the one that increases the greatest %. So for example, reducing the creep spawn interval from 2.0 to 1.8 is a 10% reduction, meaning that 600 spawns 10% faster, while increasing the creep amount from 600 to 625 is only a 4% increase in quantity. So over 10 seconds, the first makes 600*(10/1.8)=3,333 creep, but 625*(10/2)=3,125. The second interval upgrade he bought at 0:55 reduced the interval by .17 seconds, so over 10 seconds we're now at 600*(10/1.63)=3,681 creep. If he had taken the 25 amount instead, it'd be 625*(10/1.8)=3,472. So the interval was again the right choice at that time. Whoever designated these upgrade amounts didn't do very tight math, because if one upgrade is always better then you messed up.
@@DaniRadriendil The balance problem is fixed amount vs pct. If the increase is a fixed amount (like amt of creep per interval, 25 per increase) it becomes less effective the more you buy it. So 300+25 (8.3% increase) would become 325+25 (7.6%) then 350+25 (7.1%) and less and less each time. It starts below 10% and never gets better, so the 10% speed increase will always produce more creep.
I haven't played the map so I don't know for certain, but if there's a cap on both upgrades then it doesn't really matter as you're gonna end up at the maximum possible upgrade at some point anyway.
I think the issue with the spores is that the ammount of creep they suck up is probably dependent on the height of the creep, the range you upgraded them to and I would guess the density of the creep as well(like is there mesh). That being said, idk if mesh makes creep more dense or if it just makes it go higher
What mesh does is try to keep the same depth across all of it. So it's good for moving creep from distant emitters to the front. Or, you can do what I do: punt the strategy, just paint mesh EVERYWHERE so the cannons have more to shoot at.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1563 OOOO Creeper World :D, damn it has been a while, good to see it back :D And back with a really fun and cool gamemode/map too, I do hope this person does indeed create more and work on it as I would love to see more
For the longest time I've gotten into the Creeper World band wagon, but I got a little gassed out from too much to digest. Now having a bit of a break and coming back. It's nice to see the try and true still holding up to come back and enjoy more of. Love the vibes Tom, keep it up and I'll keep loving it from the land down under 🤙
I think tom is my favorite person to play creeper world. Yeah he doesnt always make great, or varied, choices, but hes fun while he does it. And he has silly voices.
CW4 has a programming language called 4RPL, which can be used to mod (mod = modify) the game. You can search Colonies for the tag "4RPL" to find all kinds of stuff people have done from FPS (First-Person Shooter) to PAC (Play As Creeper) to CSM (I'm not sure what that's short for) to one-offs like Minesweeper where you solve a classic Minesweeper puzzle while fighting the creeper.
Look for the Colonies section at the main menu and look up the tag PAC (play as creep). All of these are player made maps and some have custom game modes like PAC.
With the AC Spores - I've never modded Creeper World specifically, but surely if you're already spawning spores with custom payload amounts, you can add something like "if (spore.payload > 2147) {spore.payload = 2147}"? Like sure the dev has left comments saying the mod isn't finished, but I feel like just giving it a maximum cap to make it playable should have been quicker than writing the explanation of why it's broken... If the modding API makes this more difficult than it sounds, fair enough, but that sounds like a pretty basic functionality to me.
