Hello Lessons in Meme Culture! there's a small part that needs correction in this video COLORs was made by Studio WIT as a part of Toho's 10th year anniversary celebration, Toho is reffered to as the producer because they're the ones who paid the money but all of the creative desicions and actual creation happened at studio WIT (which is the same studio behind Attack on Titan S1-3 and Vinland Saga S1), you can find Studio WIT and other staff members credited in the descreption of the music video. It's the same case for Your Name and Weathering with you, both were created by CoMix Wave Films, Toho just invested in the projects and published the films but they had nothing to do with their actual hands on creation and creative process

THE GENDER MYSTERY SOLVED the girl is an undercover agent cross dressing as a boy. As you can see the music video show the girl was talking to someone with brown haired in a cafe with a serious look, then it cut to the introduction of the boy(girl) to the class of the admirer. This is further back up in the end of the music video when the pink haired girl walk to a big ass drone with the same brown haired man waiting for her

At this point, I don't click the video for the memes. I click them for the beautiful animation and catchy song.

To be honest (and you can believe whatever you want as the MV is somewhat interpretive) the theory of her just being a girl crossdressing has much more backing than her being trans

The plot of the music video is wild. Most of it is the dark haired girl looking at the pink haired girl. It seems common enough to see your crush somewhere out in public, but it happens so many times it implies stalking. Then also she is aware the boy and pink haired girl are the same, and she clearly likes that. There are also scenes implied to be just the imagination of the dark haired girl, including the dancing scene and the transformation scene itself (is the boy and girl really the same person or is the dark haired girl just imagining it???). Then suddenly the town is attacked, and she can only confess her love when everyone is dying around her. We never see the enemy, but I guess dark haired girl doesn't care, so... The tank fires a shell that turns into a butterfly, which seems like a metaphor, except that in the end they cannot be together because the war is not just a metaphor (except that one tank shell).

After watching the meme a ton from people posting it, I started to listen to the song and now I listen to the artist, I like how many artists names and songs are spread around that you don't normally come across normally through things like Spotify. If anybody confused about what is this means it is actually from a music video named colors people say about this as gay actually this part of music video 19 seconds is highly misunderstood. The girl who actually turns from boy to girl is actually is a girl only when you see the entire music video you will understand that she is an undercover officer disguised as a school boy for a mission because of her natural beauty a girl in her class falls in love with her (the school girl doesn't know that who she loves as a boy is actually a girl) and later the school girl finds out that she is an undercover officer who disguised as a boy but still loved her that's why it became from a love to lesbian.

The studio that animates the Shinkai films is CoMix Wave Films with Toho as the producer, not Toho Animation owned by Toho, though they did animate for Suzume. Colors was part of a Toho Animation produced collaboration. The video description credits WIT as the animation studio.

I feel like it needs to be mention as the beauty of the character itself are very much Yoneyamai-Sensei's artstyle.

I love this meme. The music video is beautiful and the song fits really well. Unfortunately it does have that algorithm spike effect.. I can't help but draw similarities with the instagram art community who feel like they get fcked over by the platform over and over so they have to participate in silly trends that halt their creativity.
