The incredible thing is, is that Clive Lloyd’s West Indies cricket side after the Packer World Series from 1979 to 1985 would beat any international team today. In a fantasy world that team would need just a few months to adjust to modern cricket. They would win the 20/20, 50 over cricket and absolutely walk Test Cricket. Best cricket team of all time.

They wouldn't have beaten Australia with Shane Warne , McGrath, Lee and Gillespie .

@@TheVanguard333 you clearly never saw them play because if you had you would know that they would. Trust me they were incredible. They had Viv Richards at his peak and the fastest bowling attack of all time.

@vantheman1238 I'm 57 yrs old I clearly saw them play more than you brah. No one could handle Shane Warne nor Glenn McGrath stop living in a fantasy. Look at their batting ave they weren't all that impressive. Haynes ave 42 , Greenidge ave 44 , Gomes 39 , Lloyd 46, Dujon ave 31. They were nothing with out their bowlers. Warne , McGrath, Lee and Gillespie would have ripped them apart.

@@vantheman1238 Langer ave 46 , Hayden 51 , Ponting 53 , Hussey 51 , Gilchrist 47 , S Waugh 51 facing the Pakistan quicks and the South African quicks. That WI team would have been smashed by this Australian team.

Hm I’m not sure v The Oz side of the early to mid Noughties. Just because of the Warne factor.

Thank you Clive Hubert Lloyd. Just today I was thinking how lucky I was growing up in the Caribbean in the 70s with Clive Lloyd and the team representing and inspiring me. (Along with Bob Marley and Muhammad Ali, of course).

Please accept my respect, Sir Clive Lloyd. I grew up watching you bat and was inspired by how carried out on the field. I never thought I could find you on the RU-vid. Truly, I'm blessed and great to see you again!

*I met him in 1980 during WI to tour to Pakistan and hold and lift his bat. The handle had perhaps 5 or more grips on. And when I shook his hand, I realized that his hands were SO BIG that 5 grips were perhaps not enough. This guy was a BEAST !!*

Clive Lloyd was one of the main reasons for the Windies success. His quiet but resolute competitiveness. His strong, dependable and calm nature. His great understanding of the game and his player's individual talents. His brilliance with the bat and in the field. His huge presence and impressive moustache.

Hard for youngsters today to realize how terrifying this West Indies team was for cricket lovers in all other countries.

I worked at Gray-Nicolls back in the day, and I remember Clive had a very heavy bat, over 3lb and 3 grips... A big bat back in those days.., especially if you compare it with Javed Miandad, his bat was just 2lb 6oz / 2lb 7oz, very, very light...

I wish Inshan Ali was still alive, then he could continue to tell us how much of a dog Clive Lloyd is. I read it in the newspapers years ago that Inshan Ali said while he(Inshan)was on the West Indies team captained by Lloyd as a leg spin bowler at a bowling change Lloyd wanted him to bowl but instead of taking the ball to him or throwing the ball to him like a captain would normally do Lloyd flung the ball at Inshan and told him "they send you here to bowl, well bowl!" That is the aggressive attitude a team captain displayed towards one of his subordinates. And I'm willing to bet if Inshan Ali was Guyanese like Lloyd, that never would have happened. Ever since I read that...PUBLISHED IN A DAILY NEWSPAPER...I lost all respect for Clive Lloyd.

When the West Indies were great WORLD Cricket was great, I miss those day's. Unfortunately now the West Indies has all but disappeared in world cricket. Player's these day's ONLY play for the money. Back in the day players were under rated & under paid, the "establishment" made all the money. There were great cricket games back then with great players. Cricket today is good but not GREAT. I may be be old & grumpy but I'm ok with that.
